I was snooping around the subforums here, and saw a very good point raised by Avalonia Rose. If, in your human life, you had tattoos or piercings, when you turned vamp, would they stay there, or would the venom stitch the piercing back together and the tattoo disappear?
Your thoughts.

Hmm, that's interesting. Well, when you turn vamp the venom heals scars, etc. I suppose a piercing might count as a scar, but I'm not sure about a tattoo. One of the many questions that I'd put to Stephenie if I ever got to ask her XD♥ Click it nao.

That is a very good question..... Let's see..
In "True Blood," [a show on HBO] there was a vampire who had tattoos.. I guess it depends on which myth and what the writer wants to do...

I say that it would go away... tattoo's are kinda useless and they would die on a vampires marble skin, so I say no

I'd say the tattoos would probably stay on? Seeing as they're easily washable anyway [those kinds]. But if it was the real real tattoo, well I don't know because I've never had experience with these.
As for the piercings, I'll say they just -- go away? Unless the vampire decides to pierce himself again :l

If they were to pierce themselves again, they'd probably have to use equipment coated with venom, since a normal needle wouldn't pierce the skin. 'Tis one of life's tricky questions 3nodding ♥ Click it nao.

I'm guessing that the tatoos would go away since their skin changes, and the piercings would probably heal.

Thanks for all your help, guys.
Now, if they had the earrings in when they were turned, what would happen?

I raised this question because I have three tattoos and eight peircings, and like so many of us, I would love to really be a vampire, and am createing an OC*. I need to know whether I would get to keep my tattooes and peircings.
That tattoos, I would say would probably fade away over the three days, but I would bet that if there was metal in the peircings, like earrings, they would hold.
I'm actually rather curious to see if any of the actors in the movie have peirced ears (James [insert hiss here]... for example). This might provide some insight.

Perhaps if they have the piercings in when they're changed, the skin would heal around them? Idk...♥ Click it nao.

In my copy of the illustrated movie companion for twilight, There is a picture of James. He has a tattoo, and you can clearly see it...so i don't know that may just be because of the actor though (and it probably is) xd

[Vanny_jae} But that does contribute to the answer, regardless. If it had been a huge deal that vmpires cannot hve and/or lose their tattoos, I'm sure they would have editted it out, using CGI, make-up or dressing him in a way that it didn't show. I'm sure Stephenie Meyer has already seen the whole thing, and would have had them fix it, if it mattered.
