So, American Presidential campaigning is over. The United States have a brand new democratic President.

Eh...I usually don't get political, but my first thought was, "America is screwed". But one interesting thing I heard on the radio at work was one of the talkers on the program said Obama only won because when he's talking to whites, he's white, and when he's talking to blacks, he's black.
And before anyone wants to say OMFG Racist! ...I was once engaged to a Hindu boy from Inda (not only different race, but entirely different culture as well!) and I've dated two Chinese boys. And I' don't mean American chinese; I mean Chinese Chinese. Like, again, different race, different culture,different religion- the whole 9 yards).

How could America be any more screwed than it already is?
I think it's a good change; and it's got nothing to do with whatever the ******** race anyone thinks he is.
He's an intelligent, well-spoken man who ran a brilliant, well-executed, campaign that didn't have to rely mainly on gimmicks [-coughPalincough-] to get his point out, and might actually be able to do some good for his country for a change.
(And I really don't want to get into the race issue. It's a very gray area and, quite frankly it's just stupid and has no place in politics; the pundits have already beat it to death, thanks, and I'm sick of it. )

He's a good speaker, I'll give him that. He's too much of a liberalist for my tastes, though, and I disagree with many of his views on issues.

That's understandable; not everyone can agree on everything, after all.
I have fairly liberal views myself, so that's probably where my preference comes from.
I've never agreed with anything that Bush stood for, quite frankly he worried me, and McCain was just too much like Bush for me to stand.
I will have to give him something, though; his concession speech was wonderful and gracious. I was very moved by it, I felt for him then.
Still got nothin' for Palin, though >>

I wasn't overly enthusiastic about either candidate. It's a shame Clinton dropped out; now that would've been very interesting run cuz either way we would've ended up making history with either the first black president or the first woman president.
One thing I have to wonder, though; Obama is 1/2 and 1/2: mom white, dad black. So, if we ever get another black president, one who is all black, will he/she label himself the 2nd black president, or the first "real" black president?

Wow, there's actually someone on the Internet who isn't creaming themselves over Obama.
-shock amazement-
Anyway, I don't have much an opinion for either. I thought Obama was a good speaker, but I felt McCain was more "real". Plus, from the super-small snippets of what I've heard from the election, Obama never really said /what/ he was going to "change!".
