The dilemma:
I have long thick blonde hair that falls just below my shoulder blades, but I want to cosplay Light from death note. I have the wig, but I can't figure out how to fit my hair under it with out having a bunch sticking out randomly. Any suggestions?

I second the wig cap. They're cheap, easy to use, readily available, and come in packs with multiples in it. Check at your local hair care supply store (I get mine at a local Sally's outlet).

It's best used by putting your hair up into a good, tight braid with a band at only the bottom of the braid. Pin it up on the top of your head in as flat a bun as you can, right around the crown, using bobby pins. Then, pull the wig cap on over your head and all the way down to your chin, making sure you get as much of the small tails of your hair as you can (yes, for a moment you will look like "hi, I am a cosplayer and I am here to rob you," but it's momentary and totally worth it). Then, pull the edge of the wig cap up to the top of your head. The rest of your hair will then be neatly pulled up under the band of your wig cap. You can then put on your wig.

This is also good as a precursor to putting on a latex bald cap.
