No one can remember when this great building was last used, or who by, or what for (though most accurately guess as to the last, since it's quite obviously a clerical building in nature), but this piece of history is everything an old, creepy building should be. It's built of stone, covered tastefully in ivy, features ridiculous architectural features such as buttresses and gargoyles, and is a great place, the local kids agree, for a game of Manhunt (or any of the other such hide-and-go seek type games which the children of small towns are so good with). Yes indeed, this place is at once terrifying and intriguing, dangerous and irresistible, empty and full of antiquated things.
Somewhere, far away, a wizened man in a dark robe has just opened a looming file cabinet, removed an old document, and blown the dust off the deed to this particular old, creepy building.

There was activity at the old Monastery--activity that did not involve children playing games, that is--for the first time in anyone's recent memory. Well, anyone but Old Man Starbuck, but no one listens to him anyway. Crazy old coot that he is.
But activity. Outside, attended entirely by women between the ages of 20 and 30, moving vehicles dropped of endless crates of equipment at the old carriage house's surprisingly modern loading dock. Inside the old halls echoed with the bustle of a field team setting up operations. These were all women too, in similar age groups to those outside. These were the Mothers, an order of elite assassins employed by the Catholic church. The scourge of the schism, the retribution for the reformation, the lethal litany. If the Jesuits are the foot soldiers of the pope, these are his commandos. Here are the most dreaded of the Militant Christians, and they are here to end a war.

User ImageMother Catherine Elizabeth Flavius had her assignment from the Delmor Mother Superior, whose name was Agnes Moore. Moore's most trusted Mother, Flavius was the chief undercover agent in the Monastery's investigation of the local Episcopal church's minister. As such she was cleaning out the rest of her equipment, in order to move to a downtown Delmor apartment rented under by the magazine Paranormal and Metaphysical Monthly (formerly known as Paranormal and Metaphysical Standard, which resulted in the worst acronym-related public relations fiasco since the Super Human Institute built their eponymous Tower in the Capital), a front organization for the Mothers' undercover operatives. She took with her a laptop with access to the Mother's archival servers, doctored credentials, clothing and a sniffer.
The sniffer was a ingenious piece of technology created by the R and D department in Rome, it was a tool for the measurement of meaning, which RnD had discovered all objects have and in measurable amounts. It measured the particular meaning of objects and people in Butterflies (BF), named for the Butterfly Effect. It would be central to her investigation of one Father Robert Covington Blood IV and the general citizenry of Delmor. With just these things she left the Monastery on undercover assignment, and would never return to it as it stood.
