uh...riiight.
Anyways, I guess you want some big names then?
Just off the top of my head for mainstream Jrock I'd say:
Dir en grey Pierrot Malice Mizer Janne Da Arc Nightmare Kaggra Gackt Miyavi
and if you consider B'z and L'arc as Jrock, you can try them too.
Hope that helps.

THE BACK HORN ZAZEN BOYS Going Steady / Ging Nang BOYZ (if you like punk) BRAHMAN Acidman Fujifabric / Super Butter Dog (these two are funk-ish)
Vk:
Cali gari Metronome Guniw Tools Merry Plastic Tree (but watch out, I hear they've been releasing some pretty out of character stuff lately)

They've been releasing stuff pretty much continuously since the 80s, as far as I know.

I know, just most of what I listen to by them sounds pretty 80s-ish, so don't quote me on what I mostly say about them sweatdrop

It really depends on what kinda stuff you want to listen to... I mean, if you want straight rock I'd personally suggest staying the frick away from bands like Moi Dix Mois and some Dir en Grey stuff because it's just not what you're going to like. I'd also say that some people are listing stuff that would be rather hard to get a hold of if we're talking accidentally finding MP3s on the internet here.
I think it would help if you listed what you've already listened to and liked and probably some western bands you like too.
I'll try to cover a number of generes and specify some albums if there's a distinction in style.
Straight/mildly alternative rock:
x L'arc en Ciel x Some Dir en Grey (Macabre, Vulgar) x Some Plastc Tree (don't have a clue what albums they've released) x Aucifer (see above comment) x Pierrot x Gazette x Some Gackt (Mars) x hide x X-Japan (80s alert) x Psycho le Cemu x Hyde x Luna Sea x Penicillin
Medium to Heavily alternative rock:
x Some Miyavi (Gagaku, Galyuu, Miyavism) x Malice Mizer (pop/dance/neobaroque) x Dir en Grey x Kagrra (Japanese traditional themed) x MUCC (heavy rock) x Sugizo (does some jazz/funk stuff) x Rest of Plastic Tree
Poprock:
x Rest of Miyavi (individual songs) x Gackt x Janne da Arc x Iceman (dance/rock) x TM Revolution x Kinya Kotani

Kaidan Needs less visual/visual relations. D= Sowwy. My collection of accidental internet findings is mostly visual because that's what I was interested in when I started accidentally finding MP3s. Don't know why, but I've weaned myself off accidentally finding MP3s - I must like the feel of buying CDs and adoring my CD collection. Anyway. Visual stuff can be just as good as other stuff and if you suggest mostly non-visual I don't see why I can't suggest mostly visual. It would help if this person let us know whaat they're looking for, though.
