Hi Guild Members. ^.^ I need some advice. A little kitten came up to my house last night, I'd say he's 6 months old? He had no collar, or anything. My initial thought was," Oh we'll take him to the pound in the morning." Having four cats in the house, I wasn't about to bring this one into my home, not knowing if he had any illnesses or not. After talking with my parents on this subject, they agreed. However, we thought about it a while and realized, the pounds here are already over-flowing with cats & kittens, and chances are he'd be euthinized. We have decided that as long as he will stay around, we'll take care of him as an outside cat. Note, we have no neighbors within a mile, so I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a family. However he's very friendly. We gave him some food, water, and set up a pet carrier with an old blanket for him on the front porch. I guess what I'm asking is, has anyone else had a situation like this, and what did you do? Thanks!

Well, Ive never been in that situation before, but I would suggest just keep leaving food out for him/her. and that pet carrier and blanket is a nice thought. But if the kitten does stay around, then maybe you could ask around (friends/family) if they would like a kitten? Do you know anyone who would want to adopt the kitty? razz

crying Unfortunately, with the economy being as bad as it is, a lot of people are abandoning pets, either because they are moving or because they cannot afford them.

Maybe there are rescue groups in your area who could help to place him if you could foster the kitty (take care of him while he is being prepared for placement). They usually pay for vet work and some will also provide food. Then they list him on a website and take him to adoption events.

Good luck!
