NOT REALLY! DON'T LYNCH ME JUST YET! What would you do if Drizzt died? I know I'd probably end up in hysterics. Then I would hunt some people down and make them bring him back to life, possibly using Wulfgar as a sacrifice depending on my mood. Either that or join the mob that would be stalking Salvatore to demand why, or ordering him to bring Drizzt back...

You know the book Captains Courageous? Well I've been told that, in that book, a super well loved character was killed off- in the first print.... The audience was so pissed the author ended up rewriting the entire end and republishing it. (I haven't looked it up so I'm not sure if that's entirely true...)
(either way)
I think, Salvatore would find himself in the same position... unless of course Drizzt was brought back to life later on.
(Although, elves don't live forever.... and well people don't either... so, hmm.)

Real people die, main characters in one of the most beloved fantasy sagas of all time do not die without major repercussions in the real world....

Well...what would I do... First I would possibly cry... And then, depending on how&why he died maybe write to Salvatore too.
But there is another side of Drizzt dieying...someday all of his stories are told and oly this left...and well I think nobody of us would like to see him die of old age. That would fit a warrior and ranger like him.

Or Salvatore could die before he ended the series and we'd all be left to stumble blindly in the darkness. There would be no way to ease our addiction if that were to happen *Petrified by the thought* eek

depends on how he dies. If his death is logical and fitting for him then I wouldn't be mad at all. After all his legacy has to end SOMEWHERE. And lets face it, you can't just keep going on the same char forever, eventually you just end up HURTING the character and peoples like for it.
However if he made him die stupidly by tripping on a rock and falling face first onto a randomly placed sharp stick cursed by Lolth to trap his soul forever so he couldn't be resurrected... Then I'd probably find Salvatore wherever he is and slap him in the face with the smelliest fish I could find. Then burn his house down.
