I'm the president of our school's anime club (I was VP last year and earned it through inheritance).
These are the reasons why I am resigning:
1. I hate the people that attend. They do not respect me as president or an upperclassmen. They talk constantly, especially when I'm trying to speak (btw if a teacher tells you to be quiet, listen because it's really rude and irritating if you are speaking in front of people and they are talking about something else. I know how teachers must feel now)
2. I hate the advisor even more. We have a different advisor now because the previous advisor, the Japanese teacher, took a leave of absense this year so we have a new Japanese teacher, and a new advisor. Our previous advisor was really lax, he would usually watch the anime with us, even when club fell on a day where conferences would be going on that evening, he would still have anime club and eat his dinner there. The new advisor, however, is always doing work that requires her computer, so we can't use the computer connected to the projector due to the fact that there is only one jack that she ABSOLUTELY needs rolleyes and we need the computer because the DVD player on the cart doesn't like my discs and they only play on Media Player Classic.
She also has it in her head that we run the club by ourselves, which is partially true but her job isn't just to babysit us. This week we were trying to get my disc to work on the exchange teacher's computer (we have a Japanese teacher here for this year) so his comp is in Japanese, meaning I can't read it. So while he's trying to get my discs to work I am trying to organize a party (we have parties every once in a while). She yells at me because the exchange teacher is doing all the work to get my disc to work on his comp, which is in Japanese I may remind you, and how the club is supposed to be student run and I'm not doing my job. Well, I'm sorry, but last time I checked, I wasn't a native Japanese speaker!!! scream
Not only that, but today a friend of mine who has Japanese 3 with her said that she called me a slacker because I didn't meet with her about anime club!! She not only talked about me to her class, but I didn't even know she wanted to meet with me! If she wants to talk to me then she needs to meet with me. It could be partially my fault for not communicating effectively, but I have no opportunity to meet with her during the day.
That alone makes me want to just stop coming, but I'm coming this week to give a speech, but after that I'm never coming again. If this club fails, fine. I really don't give a damn anymore. At first when I started feeling this way I was just going to keep on being president regardless because I didn't want to let the previous president down. But now I think she would understand. I don't have the kind of authority that she had as a senior, being a junior and just barely older than the members. I don't think I'm authoritative enough to run the club, and maybe it's for the best if I quit. That, or it will crash and burn. The current VP and Secretary are completely useless so I won't be surprised if the club ends up getting dissolved. Like I said, I don't give a damn anymore, so if the anime club fails, at least it won't be on me. Well, it will be partially because I was the one who left it to die. It's just disappointing to see it go after only 2 years.

The wrong thing about clubs (I've never been into one myself, not the school kind, since schools in my country work different than in the north, in many aspects, if not all,) is that you're expecting everyone to join them because they, you know, actually like the stuff.

I haven't bothered enlightening anyone about how good manga or anime are for quite a long time. And know why? Because I got tired of assholes laughing all my reasoning in my face and responding with 'smart' stuff like "you like that stupid porn, good for you."

exactly. I yelled at this kid today when I resigned because I said how band was really important to me and he was like, "it's not that important." I almost yelled "******** you!! It's more important to me than this stupid club!" but I still yelled at him, just not that violently. I've been in a good mood all day XD I feel almost liberated

Just like anything else mainstream, I just talk to my friends about it, never join clubs for it. They cause a lot of problems, as you have already experience.

Outside of school clubs are better, cause they really don't interfere with your school life, unless its homework and stuff.

But good for you leaving the place when you saw the best chance too.
