Madison of Slytherin

What do you think of Narcissa? I hear a lot of people say that she is the weaker of the Black sisters, that she is an obedient wife, that she is a whiner, that she is spoiled, that she is full of herself, etc etc, on and on with the insults.
Well, the thing is, I love Narcissa. I think that she goes above and beyond the duties of a mother time and time again. She may not be everyone's favorite woman, and she may be with the Death Eaters, but she loves her son like none other.
I find myself absolutely astounded in books six and seven with the things that Narcissa does and the lengths she will go to protect Draco. Disobeying her master's orders (in book six when she goes to talk to Snape and makes the unbreakable vow) and lying to Voldemort (in book seven about Harry's death).
A lot of the choices that Narcissa makes could easily end in her own death, but she seems to care about nothing more than Draco's well being. And I consider that incredibly admirable.
Other times I hear that she is weak because of the way that Lucius is. Does he control her? Is he is the boss? Is she the well-behaved, obedient stay at home mother? No, I don't think so. How many times in the end of the series do we find Narcissa squeezing Lucius' hand in a warning to shut up and behave himself? Or stepping up to be the boss herself? She is not the "in the shadows" woman that so many people see her as. And I would have loved to learn more about her.
All in all I think that Narcissa is a much misunderstood and underappreciated character and I would love to hear other people's thoughts on her.
So if you have anything to say about Narcissa (Black) Malfoy, say it here!
