Bloody hell. I was just looking around, trying to understand the Twilight hate, so I went to see topics in the Anti-Twilight guild. And this is what I have to say, while still being nice; they are just a bunch of whiny babies that are nothing more than the stereotypical hater for things that have become popular for the masses. They can diss the books if they have supporting arguements, but threatening the characters and the author (you should see what they said about Steph), that is low.
They go on about "real" books, something like Dracula. (I've read Dracula, it was boring as ******** to me, but do I carry on like a gollywog?) But all I ever hear haters say is that it's at least about real vampires instead of stupid shiny gay ones. (Going off topic as of now) Well if I could say this. VAMPIRES ARE MYTHS! WHO'S TO SAY WHAT'S REAL AND WHAT'S NOT WHEN DEALING WITH MYTHS! I APPLAUD MEYER FOR HAVING THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE MYTHS WE SO BELIEVE. And I ask you this question, would you throw apples at the director of Sesame Street for creating a character like, the Count.
This is just a little rant.

Honest to God, I'm a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE Twilight fan.
However, I refuse to use the term "Twilighter", or be one of those stereo-typical Twilight fan-girls. When I went to the premier, there was this 6 year old girl jumping up and down screaming "OMG! Edward Cullen is so sexy!"
WTF? Does she even know what that means?
I refuse to be like that. I admit publicly that I'm in love with the storyline, the characters, and the books overall... But I also admit its faults... Or tiny details that I think should have gone a different way. Before I read New Moon, I didn't like the Twilight series.
I'm sure that the "Anti-Twilighters" are either people who think vampires are dumb, think the books were too sappy and/or whiny (those that actually bothered to read them before bashing them...), or think they're non-conformists... The third option, while ludicrous, is an unfortunate truth about people. Whatever.
OR the final option, they're sick of all of the screaming, whiny, fan-girls. Just as I am. I think that those fan-girls are almost ruining the magic that the books had before they were so popular.
Well, that's my stance. Kind of. I mean, my feelings toward Twilight are difficult to explain... It's hard for me to translate my thoughts into words. They never come out just right.
So, don't... Even for an instant, think that I dislike Twilight for any reason... I just refuse to be a part of the mass of "Twilighters"... Which, in some ways makes me a non-conformist just like the people I was bashing earlier... But in a different way. I'm not the dumb non-conformist that has to be a Closet Twilight Fan. Haha. I'm out of the closet. I love Twilight.
Haha, all of us know that those people all love it too, their just "too tough" to admit it. Stupid "Closet Twilighters."

But... don't hate me for saying that I love Anne Rice's vampires... All vampires should have fangs. Hahaha...
And the sparkling is a little weird.
I can handle the granite, and being ice cold.
Those are the only things I don't like about the Twilight vamps. And now that I've been open and honest with you, I feel a lot better. biggrin

Alice, I do agree with you on some points.
- The stereotypical fan girls are annoying as hell. And yes they are a reason for a lot of the hate. - I am a Twilighter. I see a difference between a Twilighter and fan girl. Twilighter's can make a coherent sentence, where fan girls scream and cry EDWARDDDD! - I to will admit faults with the book, always starting with Renessme. - Anti-twilighters can be right at times.

I also see a difference between a Twilighter and a fan girl. Twilighters are people who love the book, but will acknowledge other characters besides Edward. Twilighters tend to love the book for other reasons than Edward.
Fan girls are usually girls who obsess over Edward, and don't realize anything else in the books.
And I agree with both of you, stereotypical fangirls are truly annoying. Was there really a six year old shouting that Edward was sexy? I wonder if she should be reading the Twilight series... being six years old.

I think the parents of that 6 year old should think twice before letting them read a book meant for teenagers.

[massive rant] Ugh. I hate fangirls!! The only reason they read the books is for Edward. Forget him!! He's not the whole book!!! Sure, he's a big part of it, but not the whole entire thing!! My cousin is one of the fangirls, and on thanksgiving her and my mamaw were talking about twilight (this is all what my dad told me). My mamaw has a reason for not understanding it, she didn't read the books. But my cousin read the first book. So when my dad started talking about Jacob, my cousin said, "Who's Jacob?" WHAT THE HECK?!? How can you read Twilight and not know who Jacob is?!? He's the climax of the book, for heavens sake!! This just proves that she read the book just for Edward. She also didn't understand any of their powers. - Don't even get me started on those anti-twilight people! My two best friends are anti-twilight people. They haven't read the books, and they say they hate it. Now, they don't go whining on and on about it, but when I bring it up, they point out the main turnoff for them, it's a love story. I don't know how to explain this without seeming weird, but me and my friends don't like love stories, or anything with guys in it. I'm not exactly sure how this developed, but it did. This may also seem weird, but anything with it we call AIDS...yes AIDS. xd . So anyway, when I first told them about it, one of them hadn't even heard of it...but my other friend did. She hated it first because it was popular, had aids, and the whole plot of the story was "OH SHE SMELLS GOOD I'M GONNA EAT HER". Why she thinks this is because of Wikipedia. The thing about wikipedia is...ANYONE CAN EDIT IT. OH THANK YOU FAN GIRLS, YOU HAVE TURNED MY BEST FRIENDS AWAY FROM THE BEST STORY EVER BECAUSE OF YOUR STUPID OBSESSION WITH EDWARD!! All in all, it comes back to the STUPID FAN GIRLS. I just keep finding more and more reasons to hate them!! scream - Another thing that gets to me is that people only read the books for the movie. Sure, it's a way to get more readers of the series, but yet again, this brings me back to the fan girls. They always end up ruining everything! Most of the people who read the series just for the movie end up being fan girls. It's annoying, really. They only read it to keep up with the current popular thing. [/massive rant]

And she was telling everyone jacob was stupid*I'm kinda a wolf fan* So yeah....she got some weird looks...

Renesmee, I agree. I hate the fan girls that just sit there and scream about how hot Edward is. I'm not even really a big Edward fan. I point out faults all the time, on both the movie and the book. That doesn't mean I don't love the book, it's actually my favorite book, but I refuse to call myself a fangirl. I don't care how obsessed I am, I will not sit there and yell about how hot I might think Edward is. Especially if I was six, that's just a bit creepy, and very messed up. And then all of the fangirls say how much they hate Jacob just because he likes Bella. I mean really, would you judge somebody in real life if they liked someone who was already dating? Jake had every right to like her. the vampire with a beating heart
