New here? Introduce yourself! Old members can welcome the new ones. biggrin

I'm Solar... or Zoe, whichever you prefer. I'm 19 and a first year student at the University of Maine. I'm majoring in English. I've known of Yazawa Ai for a few years, but I only started reading her manga this past spring. She's quickly become one of my favorite mangaka. My favorite series by her is Nana... it is so addictive. @.@

Hi~~ ^^

I'm Mel. Just turned 18~~ >.<... am waiting for my university to start (yay for long holidays). Yazawa Ai's manga is probably one of the first one I've read (besides Akazukin Cha Cha), I'm not sure of the english name of the manga (it's called xia xuan zhi yue in chinese). Although I wasn't a Yazawa Ai fan until I started reading Nana~~ ^^;; which was probably around 2 years ago... I mean, you just can't not like the series~~ sweatdrop

Yay, welcome! What was this manga about? Someone can probably identify it if you give a short plot summary. biggrin

thats the thing... I don't really remember... sweatdrop I read it... 6 or 7 years ago...? I think it's made into a movie... moonchild...? O_O... although I'm not too sure about that, since I haven't watched the movie... just... if I'm not wrong... it has something to do with a spirit of a boy in this huge old mansion...? O_Olll ... er...

*thinks hard*...*sprials into absolute confusion*... /_... I'll probably have to find the manga to reread it again... ^^;;

Oooh, was it Kagen no Tsuki? (The English title is something like Last Quarter...) It was a kind of confusing story, I would like to reread it because it was interesting, but I didn't fully understand it.

okay, hi. i will try to remember to use appostraphes ok?? ahem. you can call me rin. i am 16, a junior, and studying abroad in japan currently. i return to the states november 22 and the following monday go back to torturous hell of my insane high school.

i discovered nana while here in japan. i saw the movie first of anything else, bought the art book soon after, and then started to collect the manga. i am glad that it is coming to the US... but i do not look forward to the rage of fans that will most likely invade once volume one or two have been released.

the art is lovely. i have heard of paradise kiss, but i don't think i am going to buy it, because of its price.

well, i hope i have sufficiently introduced myself. ^ ^

Hey all! Name's pinkmonkey. I'm 19 and I'm a sophomore at Florida State. I'm majoring in Psychology.

I've been a Yazawa Ai fan for about 5 years. I read Parakiss first and LOVED it, then a few years later I read Nana and loved it even more. I haven't read her other works yet, but I plan to soon. I'm a big fan of her drawing style.

Apostrophes are not a big deal... I just hate when people use run on sentences with lots of spelling mistakes, so that's what that rule was about. sweatdrop

Have fun with the rest of your stay in Japan! biggrin

Hola, I'm PrinceElly, formerly EllytoFei (a remnant of my fangirl days), and will answer to Elly. I'm a freshman in high school. A year or two ago, I picked up the first volume of Paradise Kiss, read it, and quickly forgot about it. In the meantime, I began reading Gokinjo Monogatari. When my friends got into manga, one borrowed it, then another. One of my friends ended up giving me the second volume for Christmas, and from then on, I was hooked. After a relatively recent bit of self reflection, I realized that I was madly in love with Yazawa Ai's works.

rin is what you may call me, but pronounce it as lynn please.

paradise kiss in japan is maybe ¥600 yen a piece. i need to salvage my money because i am starting to buy my presents for people when i go home and i already have three other manga series i have. i have seen some of its chapters though!! it looks interesting... i just havent picked it up.

and run on sentences. i HATE them. grammar is something i work very hard on... so yeah. if my grammar is all gross one day, well, i am obviously exhausted, not thinking straight, or overly stressed. ^ ^
