They are very cute. I have never owned one myself but I always though they would be a fun and loving pet to have. My favorite rodent and animal are rats. I don't know if a ferret is a rodent or not. They may be more related to a weasel but they are cute non the less ^_^

A ferret isn't a rodent! They're Mustelids, also known as the weasel family. A rodent is characterized by their continually growing incisors which must be worn down through gnawing habits. A ferret does not have these incisors, but a carnivorous jaw structure complete with fangs. They're actually a natural predator of rodents such as mice and rats!
Regardless, they're wonderful animals - I haven't had any personally, but I lived with a couple for a short time and they're great fun.

I must complement you on your knowledge of animals...But as it stands ferrets and weasels are both rodents, Rats on acasion may eat meet and ferrets (such as mine) loves banana and lettuce and he really loves our guinia pig. Although those fangs of his you can feel when petting his chin!

Opossumbly Yeah, they're both omnivores, but the weasel family aren't rodents. The bulk of the mustelidae family and rodent families are omnivores (meaning that they eat fruits/veggies and meat), but the mustelidae family consists of the weasels and animals such as otters and badgers. I was under the impression ferrets should be obligate carnivores.

Ferrets are carnivores.
Their bodies don't digest fiber well at all and ingesting too much fiber can cause blockages and other health related issues. That is why it's best to keep your fuzzy on a meat based diet at all times, even in the treats you give them.
