I was coming home from the movies and saw police and ambulance at a hotel. I looked it up later and found this:
Toxic odor forces evacuation of local Marriott hotelNovember 28, 2008TOWN OF WALLKILL -- A mystery odor forced the evacuation of the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on Crystal Run Crossing in Mechanicstown Friday night after hotel patrons began coughing and choking.
The hotel was evacuated just after 9 p.m. Friday and firefighters were investigating the cause of the odor, which patrons described as an irritant to their eyes and skin.
Ambulances were also dispatched to the scene, which is just off Exit 122 of Route 17, but it was not clear if there were any serious problems being suffered by hotel patrons. One hotel guest was expected to be transported to a local hospital for observation. About 28 others were affected by the toxic odor, but were likely to be treated at the scene, authorities said.
Firefighters requested additional manpower and equipment, including a haz-mat unit, to the scene.
About a dozen hotel patrons were milling about outside the hotel in the chilling night air.
