If it involves the exchange of money for goods I'm afraid I won't be able to. D:

From what I could tell its mainly holiday/seasonal items - eg Christmas trees and decorations.
Its only 40 items, so I guess it all depends on how much it is before I shell out the cash for it. It would be more beneficial if it was 100+

i think, if this is what they were talking about in their survery about "booster packs" then i think the price is around $15-20 i'm not sure about that though. But yeah the objects are things like garland and wreaths and christmas lawn ornaments, a nut cracker, some fireplace stockings... they mentioned being able to see santa or mrs. clause... and there being a family holiday meal, and fireworks for new years. i think there is also gonna be some chaunaka and kwanza objects.

Hmm a new expansion pack could be interesting. I guess thats the only thing about the sims that I love and hate. I mean just when you have the latest expansion pack they are either working on a new one or its already out. And who doesnt want the newest one with all its wonderful new and exciting new objects and what not.
But most likely I will be compelled to buy it.

Yeah, but the chaunaka and kwanza items are already in the exchange. There are 40+ items comming out and we already have 17 of them (If you've downloaded from the exchange).

Grr... the Holiday Pack. I'd definitely like some of those items, HOWEVER...
Thus far the supposed holiday interactions are: 1) serving a holiday feast 2) dressing up as santa 3) a new year's eve party
Not enough or variable enough to draw me in yet.
As for the objects, it's a total of 40 supposedly. Approximately 10 of those (though I'm thinking possibly 12 depending on which ones they're considering holiday) are and have been available as free downloads for quite some time. Another 12 were made for the Holiday Giveaway. That means that they're only actually making 18 objects for the Holiday Pack. $15 when an entire expansion containing numerous interactions about 100 objects sells for $30. I'll happily play along with my thousands of free fabulous usermade downloads until that pack is available more cheaply. Definitely.

i just realized...
how often would you use these items in, let's say, june? i probably wouldn't care one way or another about putting a ton of christmas items in a sim's house. i rarely use the christmas items (from last year) as it is. people getting wrapped up in the materialness of the christmas season will probably think this is a good buy, but i can't see myself using it in 11 out of 12 months of the year.
i think i've decided that this simply isn't one of the things i'm going to freak out and get immediately (which is what i've been doing for all the sims 2 stuff released thus far sweatdrop ). i might wait and find out exactly what's what and decide then if it's worth it or not.

yeah, i don't know that i'm gonna rush right out and buy it either. like you guys have said, i'm a little dissappointed that they don't have more NEW objects that we haven't already been able to dl from the exchange. (But I only saw 8 holiday items on the exchange though... not 12-14) besides that, i have christmas at random intervals throughout the year cause my sims don't typically live for a whole human year. but i'll probably still wait to buy it... either that or put it on my christmas wish list, just in case santa wants to get it for me! wink

Hmmm. I might put it on my Christmas wishlist, and pray that I'll get it. This sounds like a small expansion though. I'd rather get Sims 2 Nightlife, I think that's worth the money more.

The expansion is set at november 17 for 14.99... or, for the first time, you can purchase on the release date and have it downloaded right onto your pc. i don't think this pack will be as expansive as a whole expansion pack. This pack will mostly have items, and a few skins. There won't be extra jobs or new housing utilities. It's just everything you need to get ready for your sims holiday.
