"W-wait, Lori!"
She knew this had been a bad idea. The chunky rubber heels squealed as their owner nearly skidded into a display of canned soups, the violet haired woman in the matching purple fishnets and shiny black PVC dress slid to a halt, the hands in similar material arm warmers lifting to dig long fingers into the fluffy black and purple dread falls that were positioned as pigtails behind a pair of large circular goggles.
What had ever made her think bringing a girl who thought everything was food to a super market was a good idea? Lori had taken one look at the packed shelves and Chole (Marlene's name for her second mouth) had begun to almost visibly salivate. They had managed to get through the first few items on the woman's list before something had caught the child's eyes and off she went.
Marlene whimpered, teeth digging into one purple lip before she bolted off again in search of her child.
~*~
"Dahwn," the small girl read as she reached up, grabbing the pink, candy colored bottle, squinting at the label before shrugging and breaking the seal, unscrewing the cap to pop it into her second mouth as she lifted the bottle to her lips, taking a long drink of the viscus fluid and licking her lips.
It was sweet, if sticky, she decided, pausing to frown. "..Doesn't taste much like apples," she decided with a grumble, glancing up to smile sweetly at the woman staring at her before hiccuping - a soap bubble lifting from her lips. "Excuse me~" She offered, grinning and covering her mouth with one hand.
The woman's face drained of color, and she hurriedly snatched what she was there for and fled with her cart. Lori blinked after her before shrugging, wings flexing as she continued down the aisle. Mom had said they were here to restock their fridge - well, there certainly was enough here to do that! She'd never seen some of these foods! She paused to marvel at the colorful packages, giggling softly. This place was awesome~

"Ginny, can I-"
"The answer is still the same, Adhara, you cannot have anything else, alright? You have to choose only two things, because I don't have as much money as your father does," Guinevere replied calmly, much less easy to frustrate than Adhara was. Said little girl frowned and crossed her arms irritably.
"He's not my father," she commented, before running back to replace the toy she'd pulled off the shelf in it's proper place. Already, Guinevere was getting her two other toys, or sorts. One was a Rubik's Cube, which was Ginny's idea, the other was a box of various kinds of puzzles, that both thought might actually occupy the little girl's time, given she did so many things so quickly and easily, and Guinevere's house wasn't yet very child-friendly. Adhara glanced around the toy section once more, then back to her temporary guardian. Guinevere had two kids of her own, now, with long names that Adhara didn't remember, as she didn't much care for either of the little girls. Currently, they'd been dropped off at the childsafe area at the front of the store. Unfortunately, Adhara was too tall to play in that area, and was stuck following Ginny around.
Well, was stuck following her around.
The little girl easily skipped off when the grey-skinned woman was looking at something that they apparently needed, her black, neon-detailed dress swishing a bit around her knees, her legs currently covered by white thigh-high stockings that had two black-ribboned bows at the top of them. Curiously, the girl investigated the large store, looking for something interesting and correcting various little things that she noticed were wrong in the shelving. At one point, she came upon a bottle of dish soap that had been opened and was missing some of the liquid, but the spill that would normally accompany it was... missing. With a quick glance around, she was easily drawn away from this odd thought, as her eyes settled on a pair of white wings remarkably like her own. The girl smiled brightly, wings outstretching a bit, as though trying to compare themselves, before she ran up to the other girl. Niita, the tentacle who'd been trying to reach the back of the shelf or something similar to that, ended up pulling about seven bottles of the liquid soap to the ground, but it wasn't really what Adhi's attention was on right now. She tapped the girl gently on the shoulder when she approached her, and smiled brightly. "Hi! You've got wings like mine, too!"

The wings in question spread, feathers fluffing out before the girl blinked, turning her head from where she had been contentedly helping herself to a package of dishwasher gel packets. The one hanging in her mouth was quickly sucked in, one tooth popping it as Lori turned, studying the girl before smiling brightly.
"You're right," she agreed after a moment of studying the other girl's wings, arms folding over her chest - the short purple jacket stretching slightly as the startled appendages calmed slightly. "You have .. thingies, though," the green girl continued to appraise, ignoring the tongue of her second mouth as it probed at the bottom of the box she held, gurgling softly. Lori dropped the box into its grip, shifting slightly as a few of the gel packets spilled from the side as the moist appendage shifted the box into more optimal a position to nibble at it.
She smiled, leaning closer and moving to examine one of the smooth purple appendages, reaching out to press a finger to one. "I've never seen anyone with these before," she continued, laughing softly. "They're pretty cool. I wonder if they taste like squid..."

Adhara smiled happily when the girl turned; similar to a few of the other hybrids she'd met now, this girl had strange coloured skin, and had hair that was purple, similar to her own, though much lighter. "Thingies?" she questioned, not completely sure what the other meant by that until she poked at the right tentacle. Niita extended toward the poking appendage and gently wrapped around it, tugging a bit, as though curious about whether or not she could pull the half-sibling of Adhara closer - at least, that's what she looked like. Part Polly, again. There were an awful lot of Diligence kids, weren't there?
She laughed a bit, pulling Niita gently off of the other girl's finger and taking a step back, though Niita and now even Reena extended toward her, making a sort of 'grabby hands' gesture in her direction. Adhara pointed toward the green girl's stomach, where the mouth was munching at the box. "But you've got a mouth on your tummy. I don't have one of those," Adhara noted. If she had been wearing a shirt, she probably would have lifted it to poke at her stomach. Since she wasn't, however, she simply poked at the material covering her stomach.
"Dun'no if Reena or Niita taste like squid," she noted. Of course, she would be a bit worried about what would happen if one of the tentacles went anywhere near someone's mouth. The way that it was played out in her head, they would either go crazy with the affection, or they would end up trying to crawl down someone's throat. Neither of those were good.

"Ah, yeah..," she laughed weakly, glancing down and moving to hook her fingers in the corners of the second mouth, pulling it upwards into a smile as it gurgled and growled its disapproval. "I've seen plenty of kids with wings - even one guy with metal wings - and Zuba has a wing for an ear," she continued thoughtfully. "But never anyone with thingies."
Her visible eye lifted, studying the purple appendages as they made grabby hands at her stomach, absently reaching out to touch one once more. "Do they have minds of their own? How cool. What about your wings, can you fly with them?" Her face lit with curiosity as she absently reached behind herself, dislodging another box of dish soap, ripping it open to pop one of the tablets into her mouth as she studied the stranger once more before smiling brightly.
"I'm Lori - er. Chloris," she corrected herself, chuckling weakly. "What's your name?"

"Uww, I know him. That's Duncan, right?" she asked curiously, having met the other boy only recently. Her face brightened happily at the mention of the split child, and her wings fluffed up a bit. "I know 'Zuba, too! I haven't seen her since I was littler, though." Adhi nodded a couple times, and Reena prodded back at the being poked; the once-anti-social tentacle had started becoming more like Niita in recent weeks, and that was... worrying Adhara just a bit.
"Adriel's got tentacles, too. He's one'a Duncan's friends," the hybrid observed, giggling a bit as the mouth on Lori's stomach was stretched into a smile, and making sure that her tentacles didn't have a chance to be tasted by the sharp-fanged mouth. "They have minds of their own, yeah. They sometimes do stuff that I don't want them to, and people get mad at me 'cause of it sometimes. Fly?" the second question came as soon as Lori asked it, and she glanced at her wings. She'd never actually tried to fly, though she did often use her wings to lift herself off the ground.
"Dun'no..." she mumbled, outstretching her wings and flapping them hard in the air, lifting herself about half a foot off the ground. "I never really get higher than that, though. My name's Adhara, or Adhi. S'nice t'meet you, Lori," she said happily, smiling at her new friend, though making a bit of a face as she ate the tablets. "Um... are you sure you should be eating those...?"

The girl nodded, smiling brightly. "Wow~ You've met a lot of people then, Adhi," she continued, looking thoughtful for a moment. "I wonder how many of us there are," she mumbled, absently popping another soap packet into her mouth.
"Woow. You can almost fly, then!" She blinked, smiling brightly and crouching to examine the empty air under her feet, almost in disbelief. The girl paused as she was questioned, glancing at the box of soap before looking up at Adhara again as she stood.
"They're good," she explained patiently, shrugging. "Why shouldn't I be eating them? Do you want one?" She smiled once more, fishing out one of the packets to offer it out to the girl and her appendages.

Adhara nodded once, a bright smile on her face. "Yup! I've met lots'n'lotsa people. Noa- er, my dad takes me out a lot, so I see a lot'ta people, even if I'm not that old yet," she said happily. She let herself drop back to the ground, and fluttered her wings to straighten out the feathers, before folding them up against her back once more. "Really? That's so cool! I can't wait 'til I learn how to fly for real, though. It'd be so fun!" she said happily, though she was kind of talking to herself at the moment. She'd always wanted to be able to fly, knowing that most winged creatures were able to. Of course, she'd never seen any of the winged kids fly any more than she could.
"They are...? But they're soap..." Adhara noted distastefully, looking a little skeptic as the packet was offered to her. She took it warily between two fingers and held it up to her mouth, sniffing at it a bit. "Umm... I don't really want to eat this. I don't like the taste of soap," she commented. She'd tasted it before, simply because it smelt good, and had then decided that it wasn't eatable. Not wanting it for herself, she instead offered it to Lori's stomach mouth, making sure to keep her fingers a decent amount away.

"I've never tried it," she mused, frowning and glancing at her wings before promptly deciding that she was perfectly fine not flying. "Mom takes me places whenever she can, but I usually end up getting in trouble for running off, or.. she has to run her shop," she mused, tapping a finger against her lip before shrugging.
"I like soap," she announced a moment later, smiling brightly. "Not as much as other things, but I like it. It reminds me of mom." She gave another shrug, glancing down as the soap was snatched happily from the girl's fingers, the pink tongue brushing across her fingers before being tucked away.
"So, what do you like to eat?" She prompted, one brow arching as she turned to place the half emptied box of soap packets down on the shelf.

Adhara giggled when the tongue brushed across her fingers. It was strange: normally, being licked was uncomfortable and unsanitary from Adhara's point-of-view, but that was always muted by whatever it was being either a pet or, apparently, a stomach-mouth. It was sort of like a pet, though, wasn't it? Reena and Niita could be seen in the same light, and the mouth seemed to have a mind of it's own as well, just as the girl's tentacles did.
"You... like soap...?" Adhara questioned, perplexed. She'd never before met someone who liked eating something like soap, no matter how good it tasted. When asked what she liked to eat, the girl was forced to pause for a moment of thought. "I like... pizza. And pepperoni. And spaghetti, and macaroni, and sandwiches, and other stuff like that. What sort of things do you like to eat? I mean, besides... soap."

Adhara tasted kind of like soap - though a sweeter, more floral tasting soap than the kind her mother offered. The girl stayed silent, deciding not to voice this matter. "It likes you," she prompted, smiling and lightly patting her stomach once more before her ears perked to listen to the girl speak.
They were all common food items - things her mom ate. The green girl shifted uncertainly, biting her lip thoughtfully. She really was strange, she decided, glancing down at the green tint to her skin before looking up again to smile brightly.
"Everything," she expressed honestly. "Most of the stuff I really like is weird, though... Glass and metal, and the stuff they make dishes out of."

Adhara smiled happily, especially at hearing that the mouth liked her. "Really?" she asked happily, digging through her pockets before finding a small candy that she'd gotten from the last shop that they'd been in. It was a little gummy-fruit-thing that Guinevere seemed to fancy, and she'd taken a couple to know what they tasted like. She unwrapped it and shoved the wrapper back into her pocket, offering the candy to the mouth, and fishing another one out, giving the still-wrapped one to Lori, herself.
"Everything?" Adhara questioned, eyebrows knitting in confusion as she tilted her head to the side just a bit. Niita nuzzled against one of Lori's hands happily, while Reena kept a close watch on that stomach mouth, not really wanting to be tasted, and never having been all that grabby with anyone or anything, especially compared to the other tentacle. She smiled a bit at the short list that the other girl told her. "It's a little bit weird, I guess, but lots of people have weird things like that," Adhara said, smiling and nodding a couple times. "I like the taste of metal, though. 'Cept I can't bite it or I hurt my teeth. Noah says that I talk too much and that my tentacles are too grabby. He also says that I clean too much and that I'm going to 'waste my childhood cleaning'. I like cleaning, though. It's fun and makes time go faster, or somethin'."

"Ooh..," the green girl purred happily as the candy was offered, lips stretching into a wide grin. Without hesitation, she unwrapped the one she was given to pop it into her mouth happily, eyes closing contently as she munched on it and listened to the girl.
"Too grabby?" She repeated finally, glancing first at the tentacle that was avoiding her near completely, and then to the one she was petting like a familiar pet. "I don't think they're too grabby. And what's wrong with cleaning?" She continued, frowning slightly as her wings fluffed. "I mean, it's nice to live somewhere clean, so you'd think he'd be happy about it, right?" She continued, absently munching on the wrapper she'd taken off of the candy as she mulled the idea over.

Adhara laughed a bit at the idea that her tentacles weren't too grabby, and she gently pet Reena, who wasn't anywhere near prepared to poke at the Gluttony spawn, and instead stuck close to Adhara, knitting between her fingers contentedly. "Well, usually they're more grabby than this, but I think that Reena's afraid of your tummy-mouth," Adhi commented with a small nod, smiling at the odd appendage that the other girl possessed. "Does your other mouth have a name?" she asked curiously, much in the style that Wynni had asked her, being just as curious as the other girl.
"Actually, he doesn't mind too much, but he kinda freaks out when I clean places that are up high or that are dangerous for me to play around close to. And when I rearrange the house when he's gone. I do that, too, sometimes, but I can't really move a lot more than the tables..." Adhara rambled, watching the other girl consume the candy wrapper. "...does that really taste good?"

"Ah.. no," Lori replied swiftly, offering a quick smile. It stung a bit, to think that the other girl was afraid of any part of her, though she shook the thought quickly and offered a quick smile. "I've never really thought to name it... It's just.. belly mouth," she mused, glancing down at the orifice curiously.
Her ears perked as the girl continued to speak, nodding quickly and smiling faintly at the admittance. "That's silly. You have wings, and your th- .. tentacles to catch yourself with if you fall anyways," she mused, nodding before pausing, reflecting for a moment on the taste.
"Mm... Not really," she admitted sheepishly. "It kind of tastes like the candy, but..."
