I figured I would do this topic. How many hear are thinking of going to Culinary School if so which one. If you went to Culinary School which one and would you recommend it.

I went to Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island. I would only recommend going if you have Culinary experience and just want to learn a few more things.

I know this is old, but I hope people will read it.

I went to a community college accredited by the ACF (American Culinary Federation) for Culinary Arts. It was great, but they promised to help network for a job. I took the initiative to try, but have not been helped one bit.

The chef world is spontaneous. Not for those trying to spend time with their children.

I'm at the Illinois Institute of Art: Chicago and it has been nothing but amazing for me. Sure, the administration kind of sucks, but the administration will suck at ANY college. The chefs are amazing, personable (except for one...) and will work to make you the best you possibly can be.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

There is an awesome online cooking school called Rouxbe.com. I absolutely love it. The video lessons are so easy to understand as well as their very well organized recipes. I recommend it to all home chefs that can't make enough time to go to a cooking school.

I Graduated from Center of Culinary Arts, Manila (CCA,Manila); Philippines and my experience in college is fun and fulfilling. I could say that I highly recommend that particular school because they have good instructors and they have good syllabus in teaching different skills and theoretical lessons about food. biggrin

I think that being in a culinary school helps a lot but the most important thing is how you develop your self in this field. biggrin

I live in an area where there isn't much in culinary schooling, but I figured I could get some initial training by trying the associates program my local community college offers. They also have a baking and pastry certificate program that looks very appealing to me. It's no Culinary Harvard, but getting my feet wet isn't such a bad thing, I think.

You know they make gloves that you can wear for things like that. I have a friend that won't use her mandolin slicer without putting her gloves on first. They are called cut resistant gloves, you can find them anywhere.
