The Chimera CorpsAlso known as the Ace Pilot Corps, Zeon's Chimera Corps was established by Kycilia Zabi, head of Mobile Assault Forces. Many believe she created this corps, along with the 300th Independent Corps (aka Char's Newtype Corps), in order to gain an advantage over her main political opponent, Gihren Zabi. There are two rumors regarding the exact time when this corps was created. The first is that is was created four weeks before the end of the war; the second, immediately after the Battle of Solomon.
Named after the Zanzibar Class ship, Chimera, it was made up of that ship and several Musai Class cruisers. There were a total of 31 pilots, hand-picked by their patroness, with 24 MS-14 Gelgoog units. Only three of the pilot's full names were known: Johnny Ridden, the Battalion commander; Gerald Sakai, and Thomas Krutz. Two further pilots, referred to as Manson and Brooks, are seen in the final battle for A Baoa Qu. The rest of the pilots remain unknown...
