the light from the torches on the wall sputtered through the smokey air as people shifted on their rough wooden seats, downing ail that was just as rough and making rough conversation. this inn was a place where the rough workers of the world could come after a hard day and spend their meager wages on strong ail and companionship. the counter is worked by a tall buff man in a much-stained apron while skinny boys deliver stew and hard bread to paying customers. those with a horse and the money to stable it would know that the stable, though not rich, is well maintained and worked by two girls and one older man. the only horse in the stable is a tall red gelding, he stands proudly in his meager stall and watches all around him. his skin bears the scars of many fights. his gear is stored within the stall with him. Some might say that is an open invitation to having things stolen, but the truly smart would notice that four very dangerous hooves stand between a would-be thief and the tack. the owner of the horse and tack sits at a corner table inside the inn. hood of the cloak pulled up, not much can be seen of the owner except one small curl of red hair that escapes the darkness. the cloak hides a longsword and armor of fine make from the view of any onlookers. the warrior's eyes seem to watch the crowd, perhaps looking for anyone who might have information worth selling...

Ryan darted through the twisted back allies of the city making objects fall as he passed in an effort to slow his pursuers. His latest thefts had not gone as smoothly as he had planned and now he was being chased by at least 3 police men ((Idk if that would be the proper term....)). Just another day in the life of a thief.

Ryan glanced over his shoulder only to see that, though they were a little further behind, they were still following. He cursed to himself and kept running. Soon the street let out into one of the busy streets of the town. Perfect... He crouched down a bit and darted through the masses of people looking for a place to hide. He could see the men were scanning through the crowd looking for him, so he quietly snuck onto a wagon full of supplies and going the opposite direction and he hid himself.

He waited in the back of the wagon until he they were on the outskirts of town. He then slipped off and looked around. Spotting an Inn he headed to it, needing a drink after the days events. As he walked in he spotted a particularly drunk man who's wallet was practically falling out of his pocket. Ryan passed a few feet behind the man using his powers to make the wallet fly into his hand. He opened the wallet and looked through it. There wasn't much money left but it was enough for a drink or two. So he sat down at the bar and ordered and ail.

Jayne kept an eye on the crowd in the inn just in case they decided to get combative. She'd been here three days and each day there had been a large brawl at some time during the day. She sighed and rubbed her forehead. she was at a dead end and didn't know where to go from here. rolling her head to stretch her tired neck she caught sight of the door opening and a new patron walking through the door. He didn't look like much. in fact, if her old instincts were correct he probably was... yes! there it was. She watched him with more interest as the newcomer ordered a drink with the money he'd stolen from the man a few seats down from him. back in the day when Rupert had been on the thrown she would have arrested the thief, but with the Baron on the thrown and herself in hiding she didn't want to draw too much attention to herself. besides, she'd watched the man the newcomer'd stolen from and he wasn't exactly a great specimen of honor. she debated with herself what she should do. the saying "honor among thieves" had a little bit of truth to it, but she'd been out of the business several years now and was rusty on all the protocol. even so, maybe the thief could be useful. they were very observant, you never know when something a thief saw could be sold. making her decision, Jayne signaled the serving boy and ordered one of the nicer ails to be served to the thief, on her tab. then she hunkered back in her chair and waited.

Ryan had just finished his first ail when the serving boy brought him another ail that was much nicer than the one he had been drinking. He looked confused at the boy and told him he had not ordered it and had no intention of paying for it. The boy pointed to a woman in the back hidden in a cloaks and explained that she had bought it for him. Ryan grinned smugly to himself. This may not be such a bad day after all.

Taking a long drink of the ail he stood up, drink in hand, and headed over to the woman. He pulled up a seat close to hers and smiled at her his blue eyes gleaming. "Hello my lady." He said in an attempt to sound charming. "I thank you kindly for the drink, but if you wanted me a drink was not necessary. Allow me to introduce myself I am Ryan Kohl."

Jayne chuckled at him. "call me Jayne." she replied shaking his hand. her rough calluses scraping against his. She liked the look of his blue eyes, very charming. "I see goodman Jenkin's money served you well." she laughed softly. she continued before he could get frightened "it's nice to see a brother who's so good at the trade." she took a chance and pulled her hood back just enough that he could see inside it. she didn't want to many people to know what she looked like. "perhaps you could help me out my brother?" she asked. She waited for his answer, her body deceptively relaxed, her hand poised on her dagger sheath.

Ryan looked at her slightly suspicious, wondering why she had been watching so closely and just how much she had seen. He would have to be careful until he knew exactly what she wanted. "I don't know if you would call it a trade really. Things just come to me... like a magnet." He said and finished off the last of his ail. "As to the help, what kind of help will you be needing?"

"knowledge." she signaled the waiter to refill his ail. "I've been searching for someone and it seems i've reached a dead end. I'm hoping you will be able to help me." she grew quiet and thought for a few moments. picking up her ail she took a swig and continued speaking, watching him all the while. "I swear on my luck." she wiggled her fingers and produced a coin, seemingly from thin air. It was a street magicians trick but it came in handy in the thieving world, usually in reverse, "i swear that i mean you no harm brother. i merely seek to trade if you have information i can use in my search." she laid the coin down between them. it wasn't the largest denomination but it would get him two pints of the cheapest ail in the inn.

Ryan looked at the coin that she had laid down on the table. It was a nice little sum. He looked up at her and made the coin slide along the table to his side, making sure not to let it show on his face. It could look like simple trick. "Well I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I'll try... well depending on how large this trade is that is...."

The chill night air blew briefly into the inn as a cloaked figured entered the building. The door swayed back to its originally resting place as the newcomer nodded to the proprietor and took a seat to the side of the room, close to the middle.

Elain had been wandering the wilderness for sometime now. It was time for her to catch up on recent events. Lately there had been whispers on the wind of a usurper and a missing prince.

Nearby, an exchange was going on between what looked like a warrior and a theif. On a whim she decided to focus in on this conversation, keeping her head down.

Jayne raised an eyebrow as the coin moved along the table. neat trick that was. "I'm searching for a man about twenty-six years of age. very tall, with shoulder-length wavy brown hair. well, it was last time i saw him." she sighed "his eyes are a an interesting shade of grey and he is proficient with almost any weapon. He carries himself with pride and dignity" not like he could do anything else, he's a prince, he's never had to act before. she thought to herself. "there's not much else i could really tell you that would help in any way." she rubbed her forehead "he probably rides a black warhorse, but i'm not certain about that." she made a frustrated sound. "any thing else you might need to know to keep an eye out for him? He's a runaway son of a Northern nobleman and i've been charged to bring him back. so far he's eluding me." She watched his face and posture, trying to determine his mood. She'd learned alot while in the court of the neighboring country.

Ryan looked at her rather curiously. He leaned back in his seat and picked up the coin flipping it around in his fingers. "I can't say I've seen such a man miss, but I must wonder why you are after this man and why he is running from you. What makes him so important? And if he his so important, why should I turn him in to you? I know nothing about you. For all I know you could be the bad guy in this whole matter and helping you find him could lead to this poor young man's death. I can't have that on my conscience now can I?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 11, 2008 10:44 pm

Her face grew stony and hard "I would never harm him I swear to you on all i hold dear." she took a deep breath "he's not running from me, he doesn't know i'm looking for him. I want to help him." she declined to answer his other questions, having been seriously insulted by the idea she might hurt her prince. she glared across the table and took a deep swig of her ail.

"Hey now," He said still calm. He as actually rather enjoying annoying her. "I don't know you. You can swear on all you want missy, but it still means nothing. If you want my help I'm gonna need a good reason or a lot of money.... the later would be preferable." He said and took a drink of the ail that the boy had refilled.
