Do you read his books?
If so, what's your favorite? smile
Also, which do you prefer: his writing as Stephen King or as Richard Bachman?
My favorite is The Dark Tower series- it's bizarre, creepy, and it's amazing how the series manages to go in the same direction it started in, but still has quite a few unexpected twists in it.
Personally, I don't know which I prefer. I'd have to take a look at which books were written under which name. I'm pretty sure The Dark Tower series was written under both, since it was started about 30 years ago, from what I remember reading (Correct me if I'm wrong, please)

The only book of his that I've actually read is Eye of the Dragon. It wasn't bad, and the image of the prince using the dollhouse loom to weave a rope still lingers with me over 2 decades later.

I read his books. I just finished his newest collection Just After Sunset last week. I mostly like his older writings, and the only book that I believe I've read under Richard Bachman is The Regulators.
I didn't like the Dark Tower books once I got to Wolves of the Calla. I probably would have stopped reading, but I'm such a masochist that I needed to know how it ended. However, I did end up liking Mordred. Yay for the spider psycho, right?
I've been wanting to reread The Shining and Salem's Lot lately...

It is a companion piece to the Regulators, and uses the same characters in both (though in extremely different situations). I think it was written under the Bachman name, but I'm not sure.

Is there a style different between the Bachman and King books?

The Dark Tower series is ok, but I generally find myself unimpressed by his work.

...birds creep over tin roofs, like criminals with tap shoes... .::Ive read a few of his books::. but for a while it felt like every single book had some divine entity that saved those who prayed to it. Kinda felt like quitting the King there :b
But i started up with Liseys story when i found it on sale, and then i started the dark tower series, where im currently stuck on the fourth book, it just got to cute, blech! Xb I want to get back to the main story.

I'm a fairly big fan of Stephen King. I started watching the movies based on his novels before I was able to read them. I don't think he's perfect but, in my opinion, he is a great asset to the horror genre. My favorite book by King himself is either IT or Pet Semetary(Ugh how I hate that he spelled it wrong on purpose), but he did a collaboration with Peter Straub called The Talisman that I absolutely adore. It has a sequel too, but I haven't gotten to it yet.

I've only read a few so far, and out of those I would have to say Bag of Bones was my favourite. Even if it did take me a month to finish. sweatdrop

Has anyone tackled Under the Dome yet? That thing looks like a monster, and there's really no description on the book jacket.

...stain the glass with windows, extortionate and cold stare... Oh no! I'm on the fourth too. Actually, my friend gave me her copy but I'm so lost. I'll have to read the others. I agree, it's a little too cute. Another reason why I'm lost. 'Stephen King's books are freakin' creepy, you would love them!' Err..not what I'm reading now... _______________________________________________ Say Wha-? Mister Silly Sign Here! It's Silas!

Here's what I've read by King so far:
Misery- I read this because after watching the movie I had no other choice. If the movie was this good than the book must even be better. Which was true in the end. heart
Cujo- Ugh. Horrible. Too much swearing and scenes that weren't to my liking. The story was SUPER slow as well. I mean, I can take slow stories but this was preposterous!
Carrie- Meh. Alright. I think this was his first story and I can really tell with the novice writing. This was a BIG step down from Misery.
Overall, I think he's an excellent author it's just that some of his books are more to my liking than others. I know when I have the chance I'm going to get to The Shining. The movie was so good!

pakki Overall, I think he's an excellent author it's just that some of his books are more to my liking than others. I agree with you there. I'd say that I'm a big fan of King, but sometimes reading his books is slow-going and it really affects how I feel about the story overall. If you really want to feel torn about his writing, pick up a collection of some of his short stories- some will take five minutes to read, the next an hour- and they'll both be the same number of pages XD
