User Image Trudging through the snow, Mitternacht kept his pace steady as he neared a frozen stream. It didn't take him long to break through the ice, dipping his muzzle into the water for a small drink. Lifting his head, he shook the small droplets from his fur, picking up his paws to clear the stream and land quite ungracefully in a rather large snow drift.

Flailing a moment before getting to his feet and regaining his composure, the priestly kage's eyes glanced about him, double-checking that no one else had noticed his embarassing fall. His dark fur stuck out against the white surroundings, and it wouldn't have surprised him if someone had merely seen the large form go down...

It was a beautiful winter morning, and no better time to go for a leisurely walk with her companion still snuggled up on his bed in dreamland. It was peaceful, all was quiet save for the lilting notes of song birds and the gentle crunch of snow beneath her feet as she strolled along and simply admired the view.

As time passed by the priest soon found herself thirsty and adjusted her course, faintly remembering a small frozen stream they had passed by the previous day. It had been buried by snowfall and she'd accidentally stepped into it, resulting in soaked and freezing paws for the remainder of their trek.

She came to a pause for a moment, eyes surveying the frozen over landscape as she tried to recall just where the stream had been. Perhaps the higher ground would serve her purposes. Making her way over to a large snowdrift nearby she began to climb, however her feet sunk quickly in the soft snow and she found herself buried up to her chest at the halfway point.

Drawing herself up to her full height she took another step, which resembled a hop more than anything. She took another, then another, resembling a huge mutant rabbit as she finally crested the mound of snow. While her initial reaction was to gaze outward she soon found her eyes drawn down to the foot of the small hill. Her eyes caught sight of the dark figure below, absently noting that her original destination was here as well, and was very much a witness as the other kage jumped the stream and landed himself in another snow drift for his efforts.

She manage to resist the urge to laugh at the sight, but couldn't fight the smile. Adjusting her footing for balance she was quick to call down to the other priest. "Good morning, sir! I do hope you didn't hurt yourself~" She moved to take a step, her leg sinking deeper into the snow than she expected and was sent tumbling down the incline, head over heels.

It took a moment for the world to stop spinning, and when it did she was quick to right herself, shaking the snow from her pelt. "Well, I guess that was easier than the journey up...I suppose."

Right as he thought he had managed a cool and collected, recovery, Mitternacht jumped in surprise as the other called to him. Lifting his eyes from the ground, he qruicked a brow and fought back a small peal of laughter as she, too, tumbled down the hill. Lifting his limber legs from the snow, he made teh same hop-like maneuver she had moments before, making his way a little closer to her so he didn't have to shout.

"Hello~" he laughed, "I'm quite fine, mine was just a small trip. You, however, had a little bit more of a tumble." He offered her a smile, ears flicking to get the last little bit of snow out of them. He eyed the trail that had been made up the hill by her fall, the snow either packed more or pushed out of the way.

"It seems you've opened up a new path, though." he added, "My name is Mitternacht, by the way- who might you be?"

By the time the other kage had approached her, she'd managed to shake most of the snow from her fur. With her composure regained she quirked her head at the others arrival, amusement shining in her eyes. "Not too good at traversing in this snow, are we?" Raising a forelimb she pawed at her ears, freeing the bits of snow wedged in between as a means of emphasis. "At least it's as useful as it is a hindrance, it does wonders for cushioning falls."

With a casual glance she followed his line of sight, only to duck her head in embarrassment at his words, a smile still present. "A pleasure to be of service, intentional or otherwise." She spoke, ducking her head further in semblance of a bow, her tail giving a twitch.

"I'm glad to have tumbled into you," she managed to cut her laugh off quickly. "I'm Lin'sivitria, though if it tangles your tongue like many before you, Lin is also a popular choice."

She found herself settling into a sitting position as she hummed quietly in thought. "If you don't mind my curiosity, what brings you out here~?" Her tail twitched and swished behind her curiously, as she took the moment to take a good look at the other kage.

His maw curled into a roguish grin. "No, apparently not," he replied, "Though you make a good point; I'm sure both our falls would have hurt much more had it been spring or summer. But... I'm sure neither of us would have fallen had it been less slippery out here."

His head also fell in a miniature bow, a soft laugh rumbling gently in the back of his throat. "Lin'sivi..." he trailed off, shaking his head with a snort of laughter at his attempt. "Close but not quite. Lin it is, then." He mimicked her sitting position, tail curling about his haunches and settling against the snow. His ears swiveled towards her, listening as she posed her question.

"Oh, I don't mind at all," he replied, "My comrade took this morning as a time to sleep in, so I decided to go for a stroll through the woods. I've seen this forest in the summer, it's absolutely gorgeous; the trees are so thick with leaves it's almost like night in here." He nodded as he spoke, shaking his head as a plop of snow fell from a branch above him onto his nose. "The same for you, then; what brings you out to these woods?"

"Aha...I'm afraid you may be speaking only for yourself there." A sheepish look made it's way onto her face that she quickly twisted into a small grin. "Let's just say I'm far from being the most graceful creature around, snow or no snow."

The grin ceased to fade at his attempt, in fact it only grew wider. "A valiant attempt my friend, but worry not as you're not the first to fall prey to my parents' humor. A clever sort they were, but few were spared from their wit, myself included."

The first thing that came to mind as he spoke was the parallels of their situations. "Humans are a sleepy bunch, aren't they?" She commented softly to herself as her thoughts drifted back to her own companion. All the while her gaze drifted upwards, starring at the sky through the tree branches and envisioning a canopy of leaves above as he spoke of such.

"Our situations are rather similar. We stumbled upon a small house belonging to an elderly couple last night. They allowed us to spend the night, but I ventured out early this morning. They didn't mind my presence but I could tell I unsettled them a bit. My companion seemed rather comfortable, it's not very often that travelers such as us find ourselves with a warm bed to sleep in." Not that she'd stayed in the bed long. She'd just curled up at the foot of the bed, humming until the young man had fallen asleep before venturing out into the living room. No, beds were not for her, but the beautiful bear skin rug in front of the fireplace was certainly more her style.

Her face crinkled in amusement as another laugh threatened to break out as the dollop of snow found the other kage's snout. "I believe..." She paused for a moment to regain her composure. "I believe the trees are trying to tell us not to dawdle." She rose from her spot, taking a second to shake the snow off that clung to her back side. She glanced at Mitternacht briefly before gesturing with her head back up to the hill, the way she came.

"Walk with me~?"
