So, the competitions lately have really gotten me thinking about all the wacky traditions we have within our band.
arrow My freshman year, (before boom-boxes were banned on the bus) it was a tradition for those of us who sat in the back of the bus to dance around the back of the bus singing "Because I got High" followed by "I like Big Butts". We were all very upset when they banned our sound from the bus because the songs were like calmers before the competition, but the tradition lives on through syncornized MP3 players ^^.
arrow Since before I even entered the guard, it's been a tradition to have a guard circle before we march on the field. We all put our hands in and shout something to the nature of "GO GUARD", "DEL-SEA", or my personal favorite "GUARD OWNS!" Afterwards, we'll line up in our formation and while our drum major is calling us to attention, our instructor will run through the band and touch all of our flags for good luck.
arrow After being called to attention, our band has a traditional "chant" that's a call and response between us and the drum major. DM: How are your feet? Band: TOGETHER! DM: Stomach? Band: IN! DM: Chest? Band: OUT! DM: Shoulders? Band: BACK! DM: Elbows? Band: FROZEN! DM: Chin? Band: UP! DM: How are your eyes? Band: WITH PRIDE! (Repeat the "eyes" lines x3 with a lot of emphasis on the third verse) DM: How is your attitude? Band: IN YOUR FACE!!
That last one is my favorite. Anybody else have weird traditions like us?

Hehe...
arrow Boob stickers. Yes, this applies to guys, too. It's not really on the boobs, either, but the chest under the uniform. Preeetty stickers. So yeah. Sticker. On skin. Woo.
arrow "Suck on this mint so you don't suck on the field." We have this ritual with a tic tac (or similar) and we all eat it together. Another lame, awesome thing.
arrow CHI! We all make our "chi shape" with our hands and... yeah. Say chi.
arrow Kisses & Butt Pinching! The coach, this year at least, has gone down the line kissing our cheeks and come back up pinching our butts. Teh awesome.
arrow Poking. We have cut outs in the back of our uniforms so we poke the person in front of us in the hole.
All I can think of right now.

We have boob stickers, kisses, butt-pinching, and poking in our guard as well. We also have our stuffed animeals "Reginal Bear" and "WGI Bunny".
Another tradition is secret buddy gifts. Each guardie has a secret buddy and has to buy them a present everytime we go to a big compeition. At BOA Grand Nat's we give each other an extra-special gift and reveal ourselves to our secret buddies. heart

Well we have several.
- To get us ready to compete we all put the end tips of our flags in a circle. We then chant " F L A G S, flags are the very best HUH! while weslam our flags in the opposite direction. It is so dumb, but everyone enjoys it.
- For luck we give everyone 2 kisses on opposite cheeks
- For more luck we snap the top part of our uniform along with the Drum majors.
- Along with the general butt slapping xD

We have guard circles too if I forgot to mention it O.o and as for the "General butt slapping"... can I just say that the "GO TEAM!"ing in our band extends waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond just the guard XD

Well we have our things for guard we have the secret pal. where you buy them a gift. and then before we go on the field we do the "I Believe Chant." For the band they do thier little talks and then they do their sectional chants. Like, " High Brass Kicks Shhhh..." or EGGOOOOO WAFFFLLEESSS" for saxes. and then the whole band does this thing where you and another person take your pinkies wrap them and then kiss your thumb and press your thumbs together. And then out BD usally toches our equipment for luck.

On the way to our last competition of the year, the guard captains make up a story with every guard girl's name in it and in accordance to a random theme. This year the theme was a grocery store, and i was the "special nuts" that some guy needed for an ice cream sunday. We usually read it just after the awards ceremony.
we also do secret pals and have a few *ahem* interesting stretches....i don't think it's possible to even describe them....
ya, there're a few other things but i'm lazy x3

If we got 1st it would be alyered 3nodding We only got cake once, though, cause he was lazy.)
