Lycans were created by the moon goddess in order to protect humans, though there was nothing to protect them from. The Lycans soon began dying off because there was no reason to protect them. That was until the bloodsuckers came. It was then that the Lycan race boomed, now having a reason to protect the humans. Bloodsuckers and vampires have been enemies since the very beginning.
There are three type of Lycans. Elders, Blood Born, and Half.
Elders
The Elders are the oldest and wisest of the lycan race. They were born as lycans. They have been alive since the very beginning. They are also the strongest of the lycans. They are best matched when up against purebloods. The elders also have the ability to change humans into lycans. But they only do that when necesary, not just for numbers. The Elders rule the Lycan race and help protect their kind. There are very few Elders around. Maybe only 5 or 6. Only select few are allowed to be elders.
Blood Born
Blood Born were born as lycans, but are not elders. They were born after the bloodsuckers arrived. They can be just as strong as elders at time, but they do not hold the same knowlege, making them weaker. The majority of Lycans are Blood Born.
Half
Half's are lycans that used to be human. They were chosen specially by the elders to become lycans. They are the lowest, weakest, and dullest of the race. They are often used as servants, to follow around the elders and protect them. There are only a couple Half's in the world since the Elders swill not create many. Only elect few are allowed to be halfs.
