~Getting Started~

~What to do and where to do it before you can start RPing~

The Sereitei Bleach RP Guild welcomes all newcomers!!!

You must be a little confused after seeing so many sub-forums and threads in this guild, so I'll help you getting started!!!

As the title says, this thread is designed to give advice to new members of the Guild... Here, you will find information about what you need to do and in which thread you do it before you can start RPing as your bleach character...

~Guild Rules and Conduct~

First of you must start by reading the Guild Rules thread located here. After that, it would be a nice idea to visit the threads called Welcome and Promote the Guild. There you can pick some cool banners for your sig to advertise this guild to everyone! You can also post your own banners there!

Keep in mind that the threads I just mentioned above can all be found in the Guild Main Forum. They are stickied, so they're always at the top of the page. You should check this and other announcements at the Main Forum, everyday. Keep in mind that if you don't do this you may be banned later on!!!

I know that the thread with the Guild Rules is a bit long, but ignorance is not tolerated in this Guild. Everyone gets a second chance, but failure to comply with the rules a second time and you’re banned baby!!!

You may also want to stop by the thread called Whos Who where there is a list of those people in the guild you should know, the Captains and Vice Captains and even the enemies.

~Literacy and RP~

Here in Seireitei good grammar and spelling is a biggie. Please try to be literate, and while it's alright to have a few typos, misspell every other word and there's going to be a problem. Also, don't use run on sentences. There are some things called periods and commas. Use them.
A few basic guidelines for how to post:

While in OOC (out of character), please use double parentheses ((<-- like these --> wink ) unless the thread is an OOC thread.

Please, be descriptive. When you post vague attacks, like "Such-and-such swings his sword at So-and-so", the target has no idea what direction, speed, or power your attack has, or even where your character is. So-and-so can say, "Such-and -such attacked, but I was on the other side of the room, so it didn't matter. Looked like a wimpy shot, too." So, DESCRIBE EVERYTHING.

One-Liners, posts containing little text and consequently little content, are a big no-no. We can understand only having a small amount to say, but there's no excuse to have only one line in any situation. One-Liners show a lack of effort to those around you, and are generally discouraged.

When fighting, DO NOT USE MOVES THEN EDIT THEM INTO YOUR PROFILE. This is a BANNABLE OFFENSE. Stick to the moves you created until you learn a move through training from someone authorized to teach you.

Always listen to Captains and Vice-Captains for important information regarding Squad or Guild-wide plots, as well as in normal situations. Unless your Captain or VC tells you to do something that is blatantly wrong (against rules, since the order might be a part of a plot, in which case you will be told in OOC or by PM), listen to them, and respect their authority.

~Creating a Profile for your character~

Now that you know all the guild rules and policies, and have solemnly sworn to obey them, you have to create your character before you can start RPing...

After coming up with your character profile you must post it in The Grand Library. This is mandatory! You cannot RP without having your character profile in that thread!

The profile is basically the place where all the information regarding your character can be found, including his or her name, physical description, personality, biography, etc. Don’t forget to put how your character died! Also, it's the place where you must state your zanpakuto's name, description and abilities (including shikai, and bankai, if you've already thought about it). Notice that you do not start with your ‘true’ zanpakuto, and do not automatically attain shikai or bankai with it. So, if you put those descriptions on you profile, be sure to also add -- Not yet accomplished -- in large red letters, in front of it.

Your skills and other abilities that you have attained also go in your profile (like Hadous, Bakudous, shunpo, etc.)... Once again, you need to have obtained them in order to add them to your profile...

~RPing your character training~

You are now a shinigami who has just graduated from the Soul Society's Shinigami Academy and you now have a Saatchi - a basic zanpakuto without a spirit to it, similar to any normal katana. It is simply forged metal infused with spirit particles so it can kill hollows.

When you join a squad that will still be your standard zanpakuto. You will have to go on either a "quest" or training regimen to find your unique zanpakuto and to make it out of your own spirit energy. With THIS zanpakuto you will be able to find Shikai and possibly Bankai at some point (rules on who can obtain Bankai are in the Rules thread).

There is a forum where shinigami can trains with their zanpakutos and improve their Kidous in the Training Grounds.

All roleplay threads should be labeled in the title as RP or PRP (Roleplay or Private RolePlay if no one else is allowed to post in it). This is simple courtesy so others can know where they can play their characters and where they don't have to. Most of the threads in the main forum are OOC threads.

~Rules on shikai~

Once you have obtained your personal zanpakuto, you must still have 2 months of straight role-playing before you can be trained to obtain shikai. We all know that 2 months can seem pretty long, but please bear with us. This guild is meant to be as realistic as possible. And we all assure you, it can be quite fun if you just have patience.

After obtaining Shikai, please remember to create it accordingly to the rules. If you are not a seated member of a squad (which will be explained shortly) you may only have up to 2 abilities in your shikai. Reaching a seat, you may add more and more abilities. There is no complete hierarchy for this yet, so please bear with us. This is assumed that these are skills you learn as you practice with your Shikai. They should all relate to the base power of your zanpakto.

~Joining a squad~

To join a squad, simply post an application within that squad's 'Joining' thread. All squads should have one and in it should be a form that you can follow in case you've never filled one out before. EVEN IF YOU HAVE FILLED OUT A JOIN REQUEST IN ANOTHER GUILD, PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FILLED OUT THE PROPER INFORMATION BY THE CAPTAIN’S STANDARDS. Sometimes the thread will be named something else, but it will be something referring to joining the squad.

Once you have filled out your application, simply wait a few hours to a day, depending on the captain's activeness, until you have received approval. This approval can come in PM form or the captain may post an approval in the thread.

If you are already in a squad but want to join another, you must first PM your current captain, and request a transfer as well as the captain of the squad you are trying to transfer to. Once both captains agree, you may post an application in that squad and wait for an approval. This practice is called "Squad Hopping" and is frowned upon. If there is a good reason, it will be approved. But it is assumed by joining a squad that you are willing to commit to that squad. Please think about which squad you want to be part of before you have to transfer.

Also in every way that matters, your Squad Captain is the same as God. He (or she) has the power to discipline you in any way they see fit, and they can overrule the Guild Captains and Guild Vice Captains on matters that are only affecting their squad. So remember this and be respectful of them.

~For Those Not Wishing to Join the Gotei 13~

If you do not wish to join the Gotei 13, that’s okay. You may join the side of Arrancar, Vizard, Quincy or Bount if you wish. To become a Vizard, you must first join the Gotei 13 and obtain your own zanpakuto and be able to use shikai. Once you have done that, simply PM an existing Vizard and ask if he/she will train you to become a Vizard.

It is even possible to be a "detached" member of a squad. There are cases where a shinigami is a member of a squad but for one reason or another they are off on some other duty. This is considered an extraordinary circumstance and you still have to be a member of a squad, even though you will be posting nothing but solitary roleplays.

~Squad Descriptions~

You will find a thread with complete descriptions of the various squads and groups you can join listed in this thread. The descriptions are in the thread called Squad Profiles. It lists the various groups and the Captains of those groups at the time they were posted. It is a way to get a good feel for each group and what they do and how a member of that squad is supposed to act. To go take a look through there.

How to Join the Vizards

The Vizards, also known as Las Máscaras De Muerte (The Masks of Death), are a very exclusive group and operate independantly of Soul Society. While the group is not aligned to any particular side, most Vizards act according to whatever the individual feels is right. The group has a loose organization, with only a de-facto leader and second-in-commmand, but joining the ranks is a greuling process that most ordinary Shinigami could never hope to survive through.

In order to be considered for membership, a potential applicant must have achived Bankai and held at least a Vice-Captain's position in the Sereitei. This is to ensure that the roleplayers in the group can maintain an elite level of grammar, suiting their position. After being approved for training, the applicant must go to the Human World and complete the required training to control their inner Hollow. When this step is completed, the character can move in with the Vizard group. Be warned that undergoing Vizard training will mark your character as a traitor to the Sereitei, forcing you to give up any previous positions and power.

How to Join the Quincys

It is generally believed that the Ishidas are the last of the Quincys, but this is not necessarily true. Should you decide to make your character a Quincy, there are some general guidelines to keep in mind.

Since the Quincys have no connection to the Sereitei, they will be restricted to the Earth subforum. This does not mean that you should post in each and every thread there; this will be seen as spamming and looked at by the crew on a case-by-case basis.

A beginner Quincy character will not be able to instantly use all the powers known to us by the Bleach canon. They will be restricted to using their basic Quincy Cross and have to train for the higher stages of the Quincy power heiracrhy in the same way the Shinigami must train for their Shikai and Bankai. Overpowered charcters will result in the roleplayer being contacted by a crew member for profile revision.

As there are so few Quincys on Earth, they will not have a true leader unless a considerable number of Quincy characters decide on one. Should this happen, the GVCs and GC will decide whether they want to approve the appointment. Should the deciscion be positive, the Quincy leader will join the crew in helping to make executive choices for the good of the entire guild.

How to Join the Bount

In much the same way as the Quincys, there are such a small number of remaining Bount that any new Bount characters will be under the same rules as the Quincys. Bount will be restricted to roleplaying on Earth, have no advanced powers, and have no specific leader unless one is chosen and approved by the Guild leaders.

Power restrictions on the Bount will be defined as such: A beginner Bount character will only have access to a basic Doll, with no extraordinary abilities. Since Bount Dolls do not have "higher stages" like Quincys and Shinigami, their eqivalent to Shikai and Bankai will be a further understanding and usage of their basic abilities.

A good example would be Kariya Jin's basic wind Doll. During much of the Bount arc, Kariya does not use his Doll, but later on, he can create a blade out of wind and then electricity. The basic ability would be using wind to attack in basic ways or to push oneself into the air, etc. The Shikai equivalent would be using the wind as a blade extension of one's body, and the Bankai equivalent would be the pushing of the boundaries of wind by converting it to electricity.

In the end, it wll be up to the roleplayer's common sense and good judgement to come up with a basic ability and train from there. Any overpowered Dolls will come under moderator scrutiny, and if changes need to be made, the roleplayer in question will be contacted.
