In the courtyard on the grounds of the Naosho School of Magic stands a gathering place. It is a stone paved circle as big as a large room, surrounded by tall stone pillars. There are six pillars in total, each carved with what looks to be a spirit, representing an element. Within that circle of pillars is the goddess Kira, who stands before all who come to her, dressed in her long purple gown.

Since the departure of Minty, it is Kira who has taken up the task of gifting and teaching Seconds their magic. She smiles softly at the newcomers, and her voice as she speaks is soft and melodic.

“Welcome to the new location of Naosho’s magic school, I hope you do not mind that I decided to hold these lessons outdoors,” she giggles. “Do not worry: the weather will not affect anything within the boundaries set by these pillars.”

She smiles a bit more, but then looks thoughtful. She reaches into the air and out of nowhere appears a scroll, which she grabs and gives to you.

“Unfortunately some changes to the ‘Gifting’ had to be made, to prevent abuse among the Second Yous. I implore you to read the entire front page, lest you not learn any magic at all.”

{:The Learning Process:}

The learning process is simple, and comes in four stages. All these stages must be complete in order for you to master your spell.

The Asking

The first step is the easiest: you must ask me to teach you a spell, and you may choose (almost) any spell. There are two reasons for this: one, so that I may teach you; and two, there are spells that are very difficult or forbidden, and I might not be able to teach you.

The Confirming

The second step is easy, but if you tend to not remember things so well, you might want to write it down in your journal (profile) or somewhere similar. This is where I tell you what I am to teach you, this is more or less repeating or confirming what it is you want to learn. It is also a chance for me to tell you if there are any restrictions on that magic.

The Learning

This is the hardest step out of the learning process; here is where you will “learn” the spell. A spell can never be mastered on first try, which means there will be errors. You must have at least two learning attempts. Your first will be with me after I teach you the spell. Your second attempt to learn the spell may happen here, if you wish (on the later date not all at once), or you may learn somewhere else. If you wish you can keep track of your Learning Stage in your journal.

The Mastering

Finally, you’ve done it, and you have mastered your spell. You may role play your Second mastering his or her spell here in the school, or again it may be somewhere else. Once you have mastered your spell it will be made official in your Second’s profile page.

{:Restrictions:}

To prevent magical abuse among Seconds there are certain restrictions. For students who have learnt under Minty, please also read carefully through the FAQ, for this will clear up any misunderstanding. If you have a question, ask Kara.

One --> Until a spell is mastered the Second may not use said magic/ability/etc in role play within the guild or shop. Unless however, it is a spell that does not work. If it does not work it is considered part of the learning process.

Two --> Restrictions on individual spells (if any) are to be followed.

Three --> Each Second may learn only one spell per (active) stage, totaling in four spells per Second.

Four --> You may not use these spells to kill or force any Second to do anything against their will.

{:FAQ:}

Why is there now a “learning process”? We didn’t have that before!

The changes made to the school are to prevent ‘abuse’ as stated in the introduction. This is to make sure you understand the spell you are learning to prevent godmoding, accidental or otherwise.

Why can we only learn four spells?

Again this is to prevent godmoding. We (being the owners) had found people were abusing the ability to learn any spell, and kept learning one after the other quickly, making their Seconds easy to abuse if they used magic in role play.

But when I was learning with Minty I learned more than four spells!

In the rare case that you have had learned more than four spells under Minty you get to keep all of your spells: however, it will mean you cannot learn any more spells. To figure out where everyone stands, Kara has set up a thread for older owners who had been students to list which spells their Seconds had learnt under Minty. [Here]

What if I didn’t teach my Second a spell during their previous stages?

It doesn’t affect them, if you chose not to teach your Second magic until teen stage for example, it means there are three spells they can learn, like wise if they were Child, there would be only two spells they could learn. So if you wish to hold off their magic learning that is perfectly fine.

What sort of restrictions on the spell? It was kind of vague.

It was vague because we don’t know yet what sort of spells we’ll get, for example say you wanted your Second the ability to transform, it might be requested you pick one or two forms to transform into.

How will we get a hold of you when we want to learn?

Best bet is to simply post in this thread and then post in the shop thread that you’re in the school, this way I get to see it. If I miss it and we’re both online, just feel free to tell me, or remind me if we’re in the middle of it.

Is there any point to this?

Besides the fun factor in actually having Seconds that can cast magic, this would be a good time to remind you that learning the spell in all its bits and pieces will, if done with full effort, count towards your roleplay growth requirement. There are in fact with each spell three chances to fulfill your requirement, so if you’re stuck this is a good place to start.

I notice you don’t give out magical phases, just commands: why?

Uhm… Kara sucks at magical phrases, she really does, and finds commands easier. That’s why she doesn’t do them, but feel free to continue using yours if you have one.

For the third time that day, Niki InuTaisho wondered how in the heck his son had talked him into this. Much less how his relatives and the Winters had convinced him that it was a good idea.

The first they had convinced him to do was let Blake go to the Seconds World.
Then they had crumpled his defenses about learning Magic.

Magic was a good skill to have, it taught one patience among things, but wasn't Blake just a little young for this? He didn't learn his first magicks until he was much older-- though his little brother's argument to that had been there hadn't been anyone to teach him until that time . . .

"Faster, Daddy, faster! Faster!" Blake yelled excitedly from his father's shoulder as they neared the school.

"If I do you'll fall off,"

"Then carry me!"

"We're here . . . hello?"

"Yay!" Blake threw up his arms in childish exuberance before cupping his hands around his mouth and yelling, "Huuuulloooooooooooooooo!"

Niki's hearing was never quite the same after that.

She appeared as if out of thin air, or it was quite possible she did appear out of thin air after all she was a goddess. One who didn't have much work for her except to watch, and when Blake called out to her it was like hearing a bell chime to her.

She was eager to have a student.

"No need to yell," she called out from the other side of the circle, stepping lightly towards them, "What can I help you two with today?"

"Ah, hello," Niki smiled at her, "As I assume that you know, this is Blake InuTaisho and I'm his father--"

"I wanna learn magic!" Blake cried, bouncing a little on Niki's shoulder.

"What do we say?" Niki's glare was only half-hearted, but the warning was still there. If Blake wouldn't be polite, then they would go straight back the way they came. No amount of whining, begging, or pleading would have brought them back to this place.

"Please! Please? Pretty please?"

Kira could not help but giggle it seemed to her that Niki was not ready for the fatherhood of what they called the Seconds. Though Blake was being just adorable.

"Alright then," she had to look up since Blake was on Niki's shoulder, "What is it that you would like to learn?"

She wondered what the boy would choose.

Niki knew that he was going to regret this greatly, even before the words came out of Blake's mouth.

"Fireworks!" the little boy said with absolutely no hesitation. "I wanna make fireworks!" really, what the little boy was thinking of was sparklers, something he had watched one of his cousins do recently.

Niki was torn, it would be very interesting to see how that could or would be, done with the purposes of magic. On the other hand, that was far to dangerous! He could set himself or somebody else! He looked at the Goddess and wondered if it could even be done.
"Hmmm . . ." he nibbled at his lip thoughtfully, might as well . . . this would probably gone in the books as something that he would regret so much.

"With sparkles and fizzing and fwooosh!" Blake held up a pair of jazz hands.

The goddess couldn't help but giggle at that, she thought it was adorable, even though she knew that there would be trouble with this magic, but surely he would be okay.

He was only a child after all, it wasn't like he could do anything too bad with it for now.

"So you want the ability to make fireworks," she repeated carefully, "To make things sparkle and fizzing as they travel."

She looked thoughtful, a more responsible goddess might have said no, but then again she believed the children should learn.

"Alright then!" she clapped her hands together as she then touched Blake on the head.

Seconds were granted their abilities though they had to taught.

"You will have the ability to make fireworks, but you must listen carefully and use it with care."

And hope that he didn't accidentally set anything on fire, which was why they worked out here among nature and stones.

When Kira touched his head, he felt a tingling sensation run through his entire body. It felt like there were little ants crawling through his veins, more ticklish then unpleasant. Then he felt the crackle of a tiny flame liquefy in his body, just enough heat to be uncomfortable, but not enough to burn.
The strange heated tingle ended and crawled around his fingers and toes for a moment, before he got used to the sensation and promptly forgot about it.

He shivered and giggled, hugging himself, he liked that sensation apparently.

"Okay! I'll listen really good! Promise!" Blake drew a cross over his heart with his pinky-finger.

Niki had a bad feeling about this, "Should I put him down?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:45 pm

Kira wondered how over protective Niki was mainly because it was unusual for a parent to be here, but she also wondered how much he knew about magic. She smiled softly and nodded.

"That would be wise," she paused and then added, "Trust me."

It would be a bad idea otherwise....

Niki took the giggling and very happy little boy off of his shoulder and placed him gently on the ground, all the while handling Blake he were made of the thinnest glass. Which was probably an accurate comparative description.
He grinned warmly at his happy-go-lucky little kid.

"Okay! I'm ready!" Blake was bouncing on his toes, staring up at the woman with big innocent eyes. He held up his hands in the 'jazz' position and grinned, not really sure what to except, but could hardly wait for whatever it was too happen!
