So...here's an OOC thread.
But not an ordinary one >D
The goal in this thread is to reach one thousand posts.
I'll try to have...like a prize or something for whomever posts here the most o_O;...or something.
Edit 1.30.10:
This is now the Five Thousand Post Thread (credit of idea to Erratic Rhapsody).
Once the board reaches five thousand posts, every member that has posted at least ten times in it or has been active in a role play will receive five thousand gold as a prize.
Good luck!

So...for a starter conversation...
I've been looking for some good animes to watch in my downtime o.o; Not that I'll have any once school starts again Dx Any suggestions?
Some of my favorites are: Escaflowne, Ranma 1/2. . .um...xD; Wow. I really don't watch much anime. I guess, SaiYuki, Gundam Wing, Peacemaker Kurogane...watched some of Bleach o_O OH! And Yuugiou xD
Animes I dislike?: InuYasha, Rourouni Kenshin...and most girly animes o_O Like...Chobits, but that may be because I only read the manga.

Hee hee, you really don't watch much anime, do you?
Well, there's Samurai Champloo, and I've never seen the anime, but the manga for Samurai Deeper Kyo is pretty good. I don't think either of those counts as girly. Then there's Flame of Recca, which I've only ever read, but it's pretty good if I remember correctly and there's Yu yu Hakiusho, which is fun.
The manga for Chrno Crusade is pretty good, though I'm not as fond of the anime, but that might be a bit girly; it's hard to say since I'm a girl and all...
Actually, what exactly constitutes a "girly" manga/anime?

Naw, I don't. I try...but I lose interest in animes pretty quickly >>;
I watched like...one episode of Samurai Deeper Kyo and I really liked it o.o I'll probably look it up sometime soon.
Eeeh...not a fan of Chrono Crusade. Rose, (the leading female?), bothers me somehow. Though it might just be the anime version. -Shrug-
Girly...I guess things like Absolute Boyfriend, Oh My Goddess...Wedding Peach?...Anything that has a girl crossdressing or a girl with awesome powers she uses to fight crime...or things revolving around romance. Although good for some, it's not my cup of tea Dx
Flame of Recca o.o I saw the manga for that once. Wanted to read it. Thanks for your suggestions xD

So then... DNAngel would be considered girly, and most the mangas I have would be considered girly... Well, that's okay... though I don't really like being considered girly...
Let's see, what have i recommended and what else could I recommend... considering the new information... My lil bro likes King of Hell, though I think it's kind of pointless since there's not too much plot so far as I can see. It's really just a fighting thing... I think. Then there's IDentity which is also known as Eureka in French. I don't really know what it's about though since I only ever tried reading it in french... which was not easy since I took one year of french in elementary school and never took it again. Um... So anyways, some people like Cowboy Bebop, and others hate it, depends really, and I don't suggest you watch the rest of the Gundams. They're all pretty bad...
So yeah, that's pretty much it. I think. There's ROD otherwise known as Read or Die, but all the main characters are girls and it might seem a little too sentimental to you. I suggest you stay away from Angelic Layer, cause its really really girly, and Neon Genesis Evangelion was my least favorite anime of all time. There was too much adam and eve stuff and it was really really weird.
And now, we really need a new topic since I think I've pretty much entrusted all my Japanese animation knowledge to you.
Hm... I'll try teaching you mah jong over the computer, how about that?

Yeah...DNAngel is pretty girly xD
Just because you like "feminine" animes doesn't mean you are girly. Just your taste in stories. Nothing wrong with that.
Cowboy Bebop xD I only watched the ending and didn't understand it...maybe I'll get around to watching the beginning o_O
Thanks for bestowing your knowledge on me.
...
... ...
O_O I think, I would love you if you taught me how to play mah jong.

Ooookay then. First though, you have to tell me what you know about mahjong. The tiles and the rules of the game.
Also, do you use the standard pinyin? Cause I can't type in chinese on my compy, so pinyin makes things easier.

This is going to sound lame...but I actually know absolutely nothing about mahjong.
Pinyin? If that's just Chinese written with the English alphabet...then yeah, I can understand that xD;; -Lame-

That's okay, it's not really lame. After all, if your parents never taught you anything, then it makes it kind of hard to learn. I learned from my parents after all.
And yes, it is, I just wanted to make sure you'd understand if I started typing Chinese in english.. cause my dad can't understand it at all. It takes him hours to decipher when I write in pinyin.
So then... Do you have tiles at home?

That's okay. Enmy doesn't know anything about the game either, so you can learn with... her, I guess since you guys can learn together irl.
It's a chinese gambling game and it's really fun when you get the hang of it.

Mah-jong, is that game that's similar to Chess right? And I want to comment on the Anime. I love ROD, it's one of my favorites. I have the whole series and the 3 part ova on DVD. I also have all of the manga of it. XD

um... no, it's kind of more like poker... except that there's really no english equivalent...
But there's chinese chess and Go, which are kind of more like chess. Well chinese chess is almost the same thing, and Go is just... weird... and extremely hard.
I know! ROD is awesome! I have all the anime, but I never got around to the manga since I kind of ran out of money. Is it good?

Oh pish, since you're not answering, enmy, I'll take that as a no. So anyways, I'll start with the tiles. There are 144 tiles in a set. These are the normal tiles, except for the "dragon set" cause this was a picture from a game site. Oh, and ignore the point values as well. Now you can replace the "dragon set" with the "dragon set" below, but it's kind of odd since I don't think it's called the dragon set in chinese. Oh, and you speak mandarin, yeah? Cause I don't know cantonese.
