Welcome to Alexandria's first subforum.
While yesterday the name for this subforum was crystal clear, by the time the function existed, I had completely forgotten eek gonk xp
So, I'm asking everyone to post in this sticky, their ideas as to what should be the form, of our first subforum.
Once the suggestions have been made and discussed, we will do a poll and based upon the poll, the final results will be displayed. heart
My own thoughts included:
Roleplaying Subforum (public) High Council of Guild Leaders (crew only) Debate/Argument/General Discussion (public) Religion & Philosophy (public) Archives (crew only, or public view, all locked) Memorable thrreads Such as Tournaments (similar to archives) Character profiles/Private Information (crew only) School/Education/How to thread (public) Private lessons (discussions between crew about philosophy/magic/religion)
ideas welcome.
We also ask, please do not create a thread in this subforum until after we have figured out what the subforum is. You may feel free to reply here with your thoughts. 3nodding

yes, roleplaying does sound like a good idea. The question is, would anyone bother to roleplay in there?
obviously a character profile system would work well, but whatever we do for the Crew only fields, will apply to all crew threads, so having more than one of them (private subforums) may be pointless.

I don't think we would be needing a whole subforum for an RP. But then again, same goes for profiles, all can be done in 1 thread. (:
So maybe an archive could be better, so you could clean the main forum for a bit.

Aldo I don't think we would be needing a whole subforum for an RP. But then again, same goes for profiles, all can be done in 1 thread. (: So maybe an archive could be better, so you could clean the main forum for a bit. yes, it is not so much a matter of cost in our case, but whether or not people will use the sub forums. most definitely it can be assured that if this option were available 9 months ago, we would have extracted more use out of it back then, but the metaphosis of Gaia has invalidated the motivation for a sub forum at this time. if nothing else, we could let each co captain construct a a subforum to which they are given district leadership over, and then a team of Crew over them. If the Co Captains do well, we can give them their own GGN as a gift, and within each of these gift GGNs, wil be sufficient funds for the generation of 1 subforum, if not more. This will begin to be important about the time the text version of Guilds becomes more like visual buildings and territories. so, effectively the order of promotion would go Non member --> member --> Crew of Sub forum --> General Crew --> Co Captain Over Subforum --> Knight (in possession of your own guild with a Fief & Endowment) For those of you who are confused at why this term is being used, please be aware of the Feudal Origins of Nobility, and its connection to Alexandria. Also be aware of Charlamagne; a person who built a second "Alexandria" for France. It is, as the movie "Arthur" illustrates, the Roman conquest of the northwestern parts of Europe which generated the first knights, and Charlamagne, who invented the Paladins. This does, infact seem the most logical way of doing things. I have not yet decided if the gift guilds will transfer captainship or Co captainship, but we will start with Co Captainship at least until a particular territory proves itself successful (active members, happy citizens, well populated, etc.) I must state here and now that if the gift guild captains should find themselves banned, the guilds will be returned to Control of Alexandria, until another worthy person can be found; however, there is a high probability that existing crew within that new guild will be promoted to the new position. As for arranging these guilds, do not worry, there are plenty in possession already, and depending on how things turn out, we may expect to have two dozen GGNs ready for the taking.

Sounds as /the/ way for me to start a Dune Guild (there are NONE on gaia eek ) without having to invest another 20k. XD anyway, this will cost quite a few subforums and I have no idea what other features will cost funds to create. Because I would rather have a gaia towns copy of Alexandria (same size as the RL version. razz ) than a gigantic network of guilds and subguilds, while most (if not all) will be abandoned soon anyways. confused I mean, the only active guilds I am in that are of reasonable size are A.G.E. and the Weed supporters guild. sweatdrop all others are either abandoned, small or just some people chattering.

My objective is to create a fortress/citadel of lands connected by guilds. We have the resources, and hopeful, if certain key sponsors are successful, we will continue to have the resources to expand. There are tasks which we are working on right now including alliances and funds, but before i tap further into the half million in our account, i want to see if the subforums work. If one fails, certainly having 30, much less dozens, would be silly. As our plans are going to grow more complex and advanced, It will be in our best interests if we create a hidden subforum as soon as possible (its a clicky option in every subforum) I might even use one of the other guilds in hidden forum and invite every crew member of alexandria, and promote/demote according to the needs at the time for private conferences. In this way, their promotion/demotion in those areas would only serve the purpose of small conversations, alternatively, at that scale, we can simply use PMs or AIM conferences. 3nodding

This sounds fine to me but my primary concern is the lack of activity lately on gaia, like myself for instince i only logon during the weekend because of school or i get on when i dont have home work and the many people who use l33t and get upset when you tell them to use proper english! We would have to set up ground rules based on everyones diffrent abilities such as kids that are under 13 who play on here, some of the wording may confuse them and such. Also we would have to accomadate every persons fighting style! Auto hitting, T1, T2, Etc! Do you understand were im coming from?

Lorielia Fujibaiyashi This place is big enough to have politics? Alexandria is actually a central meeting place for leaders of several Guilds & threads, totalling an excess of 3000 people. It is difficult to have jurrisdiction over thousands of people without politics. It is highly likely we will be adding another thousand or so members to the greater whole in the next 30 days. Unofficially we currently represent a body in the negihborhood of 4000-5000 people, to be specific.

How about this for an idea: Me and perhaps some other members get some gold together, we buy some more sub-forums, and take sevaral of those topics...? ^^ My ideas were as such:
General Fiction and Art Subforum: Roleplaying, Profiles, Story-writing, Art-postings; Anything creative goes here. Discussions: I'd say leave that in the main forum, but you could concider a subforum for it anyway... Politics: Crew discussions and stuff about the management of the guild itself. Education: Should stay in the main forum, like the discussions because it's pretty much linked, but can also be classified in an extra subforum because of the private lessons... ^^ Archive: Valuable threads with important information... I mean, stickying them in the main forum would after a while become impossible... ^^ Also a nice way of keeping a process-log of development in this guild... ^^
