Intro:
"Remember me, for I am your brother always. I go now to my death, of this I am aware, but weep not for me, for I will live on forever." The angel paused to tap on his brother's chest, over the boy's heart; the boy merely looked on in confusion, far too young to understand. "I fight this battle now for you, so that in time, when you grow older, you may set things right. Father has seen it in you, brother, and I believe in you. But now I must bid you farewell." The angel's eyes were filled with tears as he turned, and the young boy, though not knowing why, cried out to him, but it was too late - his brother was gone.
Shaking violently, a young man woke startled from this nightmare. For the past six days this scene had haunted him, plaguing his sleep, and he grew more and more restless with each passing hour. It was as if he were there, playing the part of the boy, witnessing in agonizing detail as his loved one marched to war. And the fear that the dream brought, it was terrible, not a night since had he gotten any rest, nor could he wake himself, once he was under its spell. He had gone to priests, and healers, and sages, but none found any wrongs, and had sent him on his way. For a while he accepted their assurance, though soon he could bear it no longer, and began to demand of them. He had already come to suspect that it was no mere dream, as no mere dream could do this.
Not more than a night later did news of a mortal reach his ears, a mage of unparalleled wisdom and power in his realm. And hoping that perhaps at last someone could aid him, he took his sword in hand and went to his priest, who quickly agreed - as they could do no more for him - and whisked him away with a powerful spell to the nearest city above the ground from where he may make his journey. As it were, it was but a short trip, the tower being easy to reach and the mage more than willing, though they spoke only briefly. . . .
The young man entered the mage's study to a rather . . . interesting reception. It also seemed that he had been expected, though perhaps this was not so surprising. "Ah, welcome to the great city, I have been expecting you for some time now. Come, take a seat, have a drink, and let us speak of Rouvenor's Staff," the mage invited, with a wave of his hand towards an oversized cushion sitting upon the floor by his fireplace. "You know of Rouvenor, yes?" "I prefer to stand, and for you to spare me your pleasantries if you will. And yes, I know of Rouvenor. An ancient hero, though some would have called him mad. I am not here to speak of his staff." "Of course you are not, but it has been of interest to me for quite some time. It may have no enchantments and be of little combat value, but it is of great historical significance and I must confess that I find it to have rather an attractive design. I would like to gain posession of it. "Now I do know that you are here for this," the mage said as he took a vial of liquid from his desk. "This will give you a full night's rest, no dreams attached, though it is good for only one dose. I will mix more, and give you what aid I can, for I am bound to the same oath as you. But now is not the time to ask of such things. I will help you if you perform a small favor for me, and retrieve Rouvenor's staff. This should be a simple task for one such as yourself. I'm sure some in the museum will be of help. Once you have it for me, we will speak further of these dreams. You are not obliged of course, but bear in mind that I am the only one who can truly help you - you are free to seek it elsewhere, but I guarantee that you will find none. Be on your way now, and we will speak again later," the mage said, cold as the demon's regard for him.
With that the mage disappeared, teleported away to a higher level of his tower. His words rang true, however, and it seemed that seeking out Rouvenor's Staff was really the only option. . . .

Story:
A demon has been having strange enrapturing dreams about two brother angels, as one goes off to battle. It has been disturbing to him as he cannot understand why he has them, no one can seem to stop them, and they are preventing him from sleeping. Furthermore, the dreams seem deeper than mere dreams, as they affect him greatly, and he can exert no control over them. So he has met a human mage who claims he can help him make these dreams stop, but the poor demon has no idea what he has gotten himself into - not realizing the true meaning of these visions, what he must do, and that he is not the only one.
Setting:
The main city is named after the great ancient hero Rouvenor, and is a fair sized city with buildings of white stone and granite, arranged in two roughly concentric circles around the massive mage's tower in the center of the city. The commercial district, which is the inner ring, houses everything from clothiers, to weaponsmiths, to booksellers and traders and grociers and inns, and all manner of services imaginable. Most of these are on the east, south, and west sides of the commercial district. On the north side, just behind the mage's tower, is the arena. The outer ring is the residential district, with smaller houses on the inside of the ring and the manors and larger homes on the outside. Large main roads connect the different districts and quarter the city, and smaller streets run just about to anywhere, making everything easily accessible. The city is well policed and high security, and is entirely surrounded by a great wall.
Rules:
The rules are pretty basic - don't be an asshat OOC, post at least a few times a week, and semi-literacy is required (that is, no asterisks for action and minimum one paragraph a post).

To Join: Just PM a basic character profile consisiting of: your name, character name / age / sex / race, a short bio, and appearance. For simplicity, I ask for a max of two characters per person. You can play as an angel or a demon. I do need someone to take on the role of the demon in the intro (male or female, 'he' just sounds better than 'it,' and I'll certainly change it all to 'she' if you prefer). For the bio, I ask that it in some way relates to the RP. If you're not sure how to do that, listing a few things that your character is interested in or a personality trait that would lead them to join the quest should suffice. Since the RP starts on the mortal plane, adding how and why you got / are there would be a good start. If your character is experiencing the strange dreams, you must include this in the bio. Accepted: Username: AlthIndor Character Name: Malaken Age: 156 Sex: Male Race: Human Bio: Malaken's expertise in sorcery began as pyromancy stemming back to pyromania as a child. Remarkably adept with magic, he mastered fire quickly and moved on to bigger, better things - as he would put it - until he had gleaned the path to alter the very fabric of his own being and mortality. Many great wizards which had reached this point before him had all gone mad with power and driven themselves to their destruction, but Malaken, determined to use this knowledge only for good, resisted its temptations and worked miracles which had him heralded as the greatest power of the era. The Mage's Tower in the great city Rouvenor was gifted to him, and he since has resided there aiding any who sought him out and were in need. Appearance: [X]Username: ngster007 Character Name: Tsukasa Age: 28 Sex: Male Race: Demon Bio: Tsukasa was originally a hired assassin before he came to Rouvenor. He has the power to manipulate metal to do what he pleases, which is why he currently works as a weaponsmith in the city. Nobody knows of his powers except, of course, himself because he uses them to create masterful weapons. However, such a quiet life has caused him to yearn to kill once more. He has secretly been practicing his skills with a scythe on his spare time. Appearance: Tsukasa is thin and wiry, with long black hair down to his eyes. He covers his left eye with a black eyepatch due to a past injury. He dresses professionally in a black dress shirt and pants, with a black trenchcoat. He has wings that he occasionally brings out but mostly keeps them inside of himself. He carries around a black handled scythe with a silver edge. Username: Iaruk Character Name: Kurai Age: ??? Sex: Male Race: Demon Bio: Kurai is a demon who was born on the mortal plane and lived there all his life. Several of his parents' emotions imprinted on him at birth and governed him more than those emotions they displayed afterward. Those that preside most over Kurai are love, care, calm, anger, insanity, and occasionally lust - though he has not succumbed to it yet. As time has passed the desire to help others has risen inside him; his demonic nature keeps trying to squelch this, but is not succeeding. Appearance: Kurai is about 6'2" tall, has dark blue hair and wears wraps and various scraps of armor under it, his sandles are brown and his sword is forged from folded adamantite. KuraiUsername: Crimson_Pegasus Character name: Tsubaki Aina Sex: Female Race: Angel Bio: Tsubaki is a serene individual, mostly calm and collected. In the realm of the Angels, she is known to be proficient in the art of healing and white magic. She was born in a noble family, but found it to be overbearing, and so she wandered away from her family, and ended up in Rouvenor. She has a sympathic nature, and often worries about others. Appearence: As an Angel, her attire consists of mostly white. Her wings are somewhat large, enough to support her in flight. She carries a silver staff, which she uses to harnass her power. Note: Image is general overview only. TsubakiUsername: spoiled2theCore Character name: Xiao Qiao Age: 87 Sex: Female Race: Demon Bio: Was born and raised in the streets of Rouvenor. She is depicted as having something of a Yin and Yang personality related to the Qiao's traditional personality: She is usually calm, placid, and otherwise an all-around nice girl, but can be goaded into "stampeding," a state in which she is edgy and mean. They call it 'Black Xiao'. She also has a very bad sense of direction, and once was lost for three days in another town while looking for the bathroom. She likes to tease Angels in a dead-pan way. She is usually shown wearing various accessories, which she makes herself such as her hat and long jet black scarf. Appearance: XiaoUsername: Kiko the Raven Character Name: Kiko Gender: Female Race: Raven Demon Bio: Kiko is a raven demon who wanders among the human's world. She is a solitary person, keeping to herself most of the time. She hides her claws and wings, in order to stay out of trouble with the humans and some of the more righteous angels who would attack her. She is a long lived being, and life can get a little boring when you know you'll exist for that long, so she is constantly on the look out for things that are happening, and will join in if it looks interesting. She can manipulate the light in the air to do things like create illusions, and turn herself invisible. Appearance: [x]
