Quote:
Wide Plains - A large field of tall grass and few trees, this is a place made for both frolicking and hunting. The occasional junked car or decaying house interrupts the sea of grass and makes for a fun (albeit rather unsafe) hide away for fawns to play, and the lake to the west is a great place for fishing or swimming.

Today was a fairly sunny day, partly cloudy to be exact. The smell of rain was on the horizon but to a certain Herla that didn't much matter. Rain was just another toy of which he could play in as he continued his exploration of the Wide Plains. He had been told plenty of times not to wander too far from the Delta least he get lost; and that was an understatement at best. Every time he went to explore he'd get lost, ever single time.

So why was it no different now then the other times? "I think it was this way?" The Pearl spoke to himself nuzzling at a bush to try and sniff out his scent. That wasn't hard to do considering he'd been frolicking about the whole area with little care in the world. Now he couldn't tell which way he had come from and without another Herla with a better sense of tracking he was stuck.

He had made a few attempts only to circle back around and find himself once more in the glen. With a huff he kicked at a rock, reaching to his back to situated his lace wrap more comfortably on his back. "I'm lost?"] He finally breathed, a pout forming on his lip. Even as he tried to scan the area for a way back home he didn't know. Left or right, up or down, North or South it was all the same to him. If he just walked straight he'd end up some place else but he was for certain it wouldn't lead home. Flopping down he lay his head on the earth sighing to himself, ears flat against his head. "I'm lost...again."

A wanderer and a curious creature by nature, the ghostly Herla often found himself drawn here to the open place, which was studded with many interesting things to play or hide amongst. However, this time he had followed the bright Pearl here, who stood out brilliantly amidst the sea of bright green grass -- it was as if a ray of sun in the cloudy sky clung to the iridescent creature where he lay.

Never one to let something that interested him go without prodding it consideringly, Valle stepped into the deep grass with delicate hooves that would not make a sound. He had become skilled in the art of mischief, after all; he had had plenty time to practice.

Pitching his velvety voice low and hiding himself behind a rusty heap of scrap, the ghostly Herla called out: "Little lost pearl, are you all alone?" He pitched it as eerily as he could, wickedly curious to see how he would react.

The Pearl Herla jumped up with a start skittering slightly away at the eerie voice. Looking around he saw nothing in sight and wondered for a moment if his ears were playing tricks on him. He took a moment to settle his thumping heart eyes skittering left to right but still nothing.

"W-who's there?" He called moving back to a part of the area where a run down home once lay. His hind quarters hit the ground with a thumb as his front end remained standing. He thought for a moment then called out, "Oh are you my guardian's voice?" He wondered. Often he'd been told that he'd hear a voice when his guardian was ready to reveal his or herself to him. Maybe this was his guardian's voice finally come to introduce their self. "I'm.. my name is Iris. What is yours?"

There was a moment's stillness, and then Valle moved, soundless even in the high grass, except for a soft sound like the blowing of wind. Then, after a moment, there was a returning murmur -- soft like the brushing of leaves. "Valle. I can see you, little Iris," taunted the ghostly Herla with laughter in his velvet tone. "Can you see me?"

Again he moved, light and swift, springing to a new hiding place behind a stand of thick grass.

"No... I can't see you." Iris pouted his fear ebbing away into annoyance. He wanted to know what was going on. Was it his guardian or something else. "I don't like this game any more, Valle." He called out dipping low to huddle near the run down home. He jumped lightly at the brushing of wind, it dancing in his long hair sent a shiver up his spine. Turning skittish blue eyes this way and that he could hear leaves and grass move about but still no sight his guardian? Or so his mind had assumed. If this is how a guardian acted he didn't like it one bit.

"I'm leaving..." he called out quickly getting to his feet he trotted past the run down home stopping short when a rock decided he was not allowed to leave. Losing his balance he flopped a few times in his step before catching himself. "Ow..." Turning he glared at the rock giving it a swift kick of his hoof before examine any possible damage. Nothing amiss he tried once more to leave but stopped again, realizing he was stuck here because he was lost. Another pout and he sat down laying his head to the earth hoping to hide himself among the tall grass.

"Iris is a fawn, to be afraid of what he cannot see," Valle taunted softly, but even he knew when a game stopped being fun -- when Iris was no longer willing to play along. Delicately he picked his way through the tall grass. Somewhere in all the fun, he had lost sight of the bright little pearl.

"I'm coming out now, Iris. Are you that afraid?" he called softly, gentling his voice deceptively.

Iris was shivering from the wind or perhaps his being scared he couldn't tell. He remained hidden in the high grass hoping whoever or whatever was out there would be nice. When he heard Valle's voice again he jumped lightly a soft squeak giving away his general location. After a while he poked his blond head from the grass, "I don't like being teased." He finally spoke looking for the figure. Soon he came into view to which Iris sat up slightly his eyes fixed on the Herla. "Pretty!" He exclaimed jumping up to prance about the Ghost Herla. "So shiny!" Forgotten was the teasing not moment before, his mind always on one track at a time.
