Here is my plan for the docks and I want to see what others would think. Remember way back about two years ago we all thought of the idea of condensing our docking by deleting unused ships and having the characters find an abandoned, oddly named British ship. We would rename it "The Spirit of Provoka."

This idea should finally come to fruition. The thing is, we no longer have subforums under the Age of Sail, so we have to do some extreme condensation. I propose before we even unveil the guild, we make a thread called "Docks - The Spirit of Provoka". Inside, the first post will be the story of how Captain Kurisutofa found the ship and renamed it. Months of reconstruction on the ship and tah-dah! We have the Spirit of Provoka. Second Post details the ships crew. Now here is why my idea makes things easier. We will only have this ship! Rather than making certain people be allowed to apply for docking rights and ship ownership, we should have just this one ship. Kurisutofa knows more about ships of all people and from what I've seen of his knowledge, it takes a TON of people to run a ship in reality. How about everyone in the guild is allowed to apply to be a crew member of this ship! If the guild gets much bigger, we start to control a fleet, still all controlled by Kurisutofa, but he can have second-in-commands ruling each ship of his fleet... with the Spirit of Provoka as his flagship.

Flattery gets you everywhere, Mr. Ardrick. Thank you for your kind words.

Generally, I like it - and not because he fed my vanity, though it does help. The reason the old system failed was because there were too many Chiefs Captains and not enough Engines Able Seamen. With the one ship to begin with, things will run smoothly.

The only thing that we will have to change is the name. Spirit of Provoka is nice, but it sounds like we're running a cruiseship. Now, we could try to shorten it or name it after a Provokan Figure.

For Example: "Fred" or "Enola's Gay" <~~~~ {Joking, kind of.}

Haha, wow. Well, here is a list of names I can think of:

The Sea Fox (reference to Jack London: "The Sea Wolf")
The Treachery
The Sea Foam
The Lady Provoka
The Lady Proca
The Grand Atabey

My favorite is: The Grand Atabey. The Shamen Atabey could find the ship and show it to us, because she doesn't need it. But she requires it be in honor of her. So we name it thus.

Also, are we going to use the "Indefagitable" as the name the British gave the ship before? And also, we can use this as part of the storyline, where the British Corporal Collingwood and Edward Mason were men sent by the British to search this island for pirates, because there were rumors of us throughout England. But when their incompetence made them completely forget to even anchor the ship or leave lookouts. The ship floated nearer to our side of the island and we found it, renamed it and fixed it up to be our own. Then later in the story, the british in the mountains can see their ship at our docks and are pissed. They could also have been living off the forest for months.

Give the Royal Navy some credit, Mr. Ardrick. They did rule the Worlds Oceans for nearly 400 years. A Captain of the Royal Navy and his Marine Corporal wouldn't be negligent enough to forget to anchor their ship. No, far from it. Instead what I was thinking was that their ship:

HMS 'Rose' (changed for future reference) foundered due to a combination of sudden foul weather and their being too close into a leeshore during a gun drill.

They were taken aback when a squall from the Western Caribbean rolled ashore: a freak wind and the weight of her run out guns brought her upon her broadside, exposing her open ports to thousands of gallons of seawater and in the course, a loud rending crack is heard and is assumed to have been the ships keel, the spine of the vessel. Fearing his ship to be a complete loss, Captain Mason orders his men to row all stores and supplies they could easily access ashore and then to abandon ship.

The supplies and rations ashore, Mason, His Officers, Collingwood & the rest of the Rose's Company set up basecamp just beyond the beachhead. After waiting until the weather subsides, they try to salvage anything else they can. Not finding much success, Mason packs up camp and moves inshore to avoid any further heavy weather. It's at this time that the Procans come across the so called 'wreck'.

This sidestory being the foundation for the ships salvage, let's try to go with your 'Grand Atabey' idea, but instead of herself, she wants it named for one of their heathen Gods.

Haha, true, I guess they aren't the blundering fools I imagine as characters. Alright, I like that. But what is the heathen God's name?

Good Question. Any names on file in the Lorebook? If not, we'll make something up.
Something... Heathenistic & Proca-ish.

I dug through it and couldn't find a god's name.

Well then, damn it.. we'll make one up. Something female with lots of wrath and hatred when angered. Imagine a woman on her cycle. That kind of god... or rather Goddess.
