Well Mandarin is a language I am very interested in learning and have been practicing but...need help with that. Anyways, I have several books and tapes...not sure how much help I can be but I can try to help some people learn and in the process learn more myself.
Well if anyone is interested then Xie Xie. ((Thank you, pronounced Shi Shi.))
Also something interesting about the Chinese language, or in this case Mandarin is that every word has a different meaning with how you say it. Also the written language is in symbols like the Japanese. So I will show both if possible. Also the way the symbol is written is also important. I will try to add onto this as much as possible...or if someone wants to help me then please do ^.^.

I know a bit of Mandarin. Like, I started learning mandarin before English (cause my family's Chinese) but I ended up being so fluent in English but can barely be in a simple everyday conversation in Chinese. The way the characters are written don't matter much to me, as long as it looked the same. ninja Not so with how words are spoken though. Anyway... Ni hao, da jia. Wo jiao Luna, jin nian shi qi shui, shi hao ren. 3nodding And that's like, pretty much most of my Chinese vocab.
The difference with Japanese is, Japanese has Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. And Kanji is the one with most similarities with Chinese characters.

You know, I'm currently taking a Mandarin Chinese course at the university I'm attending. I've only taken one year, but I believe, if you had questions, I might be able to assist you. It's quite an interesting language.

You think so? I don't like it. scream Otherwise, I'd have gotten as good at it as I have with my English. I mean, I don't exactly have the best English skills, but I can talk with people... stare

I was sort of home schooled in Chinese and then when my parents took me back to China every year to visit relatives, I didn't have a choice but start speaking Mandarin. I'm fluent in speaking Mandarin and can read and write Chinese moderately well.
