I'm not really much of a poem person, as in I can't write them, but I enjoy reading Emily Dickinson. I know about Edgar Allen Poe. But I'd like to get an opinion about what other poets there are.

Cool, I wish I could write poetry, I just don't have that rhyming capability, I'm more of a story writer, all the poems that I tried to write came out with a pointless ending, and they didn't sound good either.

Hm... I love writing poetry. <3 But I don't know much about poets, other than I really like Edgar Allen Poe. Woot.

Drooly_Cheese_Monkey Cool, I wish I could write poetry, I just don't have that rhyming capability, I'm more of a story writer, all the poems that I tried to write came out with a pointless ending, and they didn't sound good either. Not all poetry has to rhyme. Often poetry has no rhyming words, but simply a certain structure or a rhythm. But anywho, Emily Dickinson definately is a lovely poet. I enjoy her stuff, as well. I actually don't read a lot of poetry, but Robert Frost is usually a pretty good example of awesome poetry. His imagery is beautiful. I tend to write more poetry than I read, actually, but that's beside the point. smile I recommend Frost if you're looking for other poets to read.

Wow, there are so many poets, and so many styles of poetry. If you look for poetry on the internet, I'm sure you'll find some good pieces.

Try searching for Nobel prizes in literature winners. They have some really awesome poetry. And about the rhyming and rhythms - I am a publishing writer and I know nothing about rhyme and rhythm. Better learn a couple of thins about oxymorons, enumerations and other poetic tools if you wanna give it a try.

Robert Frost would be my pick. But I dont really read much poetry stressed
And poetry is not about rhyme. Or even rhythme.
Its expression.
The more you write it. The easier it feels. Try it sometime.
Who knows.. maybe its easier then you first thought. 3nodding

I'm a big fan of John Donne.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning writes awesome sonnets. She wrote the sonnet where the line "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways," comes from.
Robert Frost, of course, is a classic. ^.~
George Meredith has some very interesting sonnets.
