Canterbury Cafe` blinked at her concotion. She paused to sprinkle just a pinch of grass into her concotion, which was boiling over a small match-stick fire. She smiled as the inky black liquid turned a soft pink, while the humans below enjoyed their own tea. She sighed, sitting on her little handkerchief to protect herself from the germs on the roof. She had a small pile of seeds and sipped her tea, sighing.

 Cotton landed noisily next to Cafe, the wind from her flapping wings blowing one or two seeds to fall to the ground. "Oh, sorry!" Cotton said, and was instantly out of sight. Moments later, she was back with the seeds, which she dropped back onto the pile. "Sorry about that," she apologized. "I didn't think that they'd fall. Anyway, you looked like you could use a bit of company. One feather doesn't make a wing, after all!" Cotton laughed, completely oblivious to any ill-feelings Cafe might have.
"I suppose that I was a bit lonely, too," Cotton continued bluntly. "But where are my manners? I'm Cotton. Nice to meet you...?" The coffee pidge trailed off, waiting for Cafe to provide her name.

Cafe had almost choked her tea when the seeds were knocked off and this noisy bird landed, knocking her seeds off. She looked mortified and almost gagged when the dirty talons put the dirty seeds BACK INTO the pile of clean ones. She sniffed with indingence and put her tea down softly.
"I'm Canterbury Cafe...THE Canterbury cafe`, named after this shop, and this is my picnic spot." she said, staring down her beak at Cotton. She was about to shout 'Your manners are with the rest of the gull poop on the dock' but she was far too diginified for that sort of language. "Cotton....what a...unique name. And what flock are you from?" she siddled away a smidge.
(cafe is kinda like cowslip XD)

((I love Cowslip! That is... Until he attacked Pimpernel and Holly and Bluebell. How dare he kill poor Pimpernel! D: ))
Cotton, used to living on the rough side, was completely oblivious to Cafe's discomfort. "I'm from Baker's," she said happily. "It's great to meet you, Cafe. Mind if I call you that?" She gave the other pidge a friendly look. Her smile faded somewhat at the look of Cafe's face. This pidge looked quite rich. Maybe she didn't like the look of Cotton.
The Baker pidge bristled her feathers slightly. She may not have a lot of luxuries, but that didn't mean that she could be looked down upon!

"Canterbury, if you don't mind." she said. "Only my closest friends call me Cafe." she stepped back a little more. "Please, help yourself to some seeds." she said, holding her wing out to the seeds in an offering manner. "They are of the finest quality you can buy."

"Okay, thanks, Cantebury!" Cotton said readily. She leaned forward and plucked a seed at random up in her beak. After expertly shelling it, she ate the seed. "Mmm! That's really good!" Cotton exclaimed. "Where did you find them?"

She sniffed once more at the Pidge. "I get them for free from the sunflowers beside my roost." she said. She sipped some more of her tea, not offering a bit of it to the other. It wasn't that she wasn't hungry anymore...but she wasn't going to eat those spoiled seeds.

"Really?" Cotton said in amazement. "I've found some seeds that were just about as good as these. That's my job-- I'm a scavenger. Also a whisperer. I talk to seagulls! Want to meet my associate? I told him to stay within shouting distance. I'm sure you'll like him; everyone does. What is your profession?" Cotton grinned again, apparently thinking that she had just made a new friend.

Cafe` eyes went wide at the thought of the repulsive seagull being anywhere near her! This pidge was bad enough, scurrying about and gathering things like a pack rat...and talking with such filthy birds. "No...No..its quite alright. I don't care for the company of other species. I'm a tea maker." she said.

"Oh, nonsense! Duffdime is just like a pidge. Well, he's clumsier and not as bright, but he's a charming fellow... Duffidime!" The last word she shouted was not in Pidge, but the squawking call of Laridae. Duffdime came flapping heavily in, a silver fish in his beak. He was still wet and had just gotten out of the water apparently, for his fish was still wriggling and gasping for breath. "Hi, Cotton," she said past the fish. He gulped it down head-first and still alive. Then he shook off, spraying everything with salty water."Duffdime, you idiot!" Cotton moaned. In Pidge, she said, "I'm very sorry, Cant (can I call you that?), he's not usually like that.

Canterbury was appalled and had shrunk away to the other side of the roof, staring with wide eyes. She was covered in salt water and the seagull had ruined her kerchief. She glared at Cotton. "May you enjoy your company with the gulls, you....you...you...BARBARIAN!" she said. "Ohh,,mmy gorgeous wings...." she flapped them to try and clense them of water. "GET THAT THING OUT OF HERE!"

Cotton stared open-mouthed at Canterbury. That was just uncalled for!
"What did she say?" asked Duffdime. "She looks mad..." The seagull pulled in his feathers sadly. Had he done something bad again?
"Never mind, Duffdime," Cotton said to the gull. "She's just overreacting a little... You go on ahead, I'll follow you in a minute." Cotton watched the seagull fly away, then turned to Canterbury again. "It was my mistake," she said, her tone sharp, though her words were polite. "I'll be leaving now; thank you for sharing your seeds and time with me." Cotton threw Canterbury an ugly look, then followed her associate to a less fancy place.
((Sorry about the standstill there. If you want, I can bring a more polite pidge along. xD Maybe U-Turn? Or Watch.))

She flapped her wings, trying to dry herself. She was sobbing. She HATED getting dirty. She had just preened this morning. "And don't come back!" she shouted. She snorted, salt puffing from her nostrils.
