I got a cartilage piercing about 2 months ago and it seemed to be healing fine because it didn't hurt anymore and it looked ok but the other day I noticed that around the whole piercing it's a big swollen bump what could that mean? I was thinking an infecting but there's no pus around it at all....anyone have any ideas of what I should do?
I'll probably go to see the guy who pierced my ear to see what's up just to make sure.

Could be a keloid... But I'm not sure since I still don't have my cartilage pierced. My friend has industrial and she got one of those on one side of her ear.

i got that too, and its not an infection. it went away about 6 months after i took the piercing out. as long as it doesn't hurt, has no pus or discharge, and doesn't get really big, there's nothing to worry about. it might itch though. if it starts to worry you, just go talk to a piercer at a shop or a doctor.

If you put camomile tea on it, that should help it go away. I've never had that problem with my cartilage piercings, but a friend of mine has had that problem and used that treatment, and it worked for her.

I had that on my helix corkscrew, it's likely a hypertrophic scar (reddish bump, but no pus and restricted to right on or next to the pierce) caused by too much movement irritating the pierce.
I took mine back to my piercer, and she told me to apply 2-3 crushed-up aspirin tablets *that's aspirin, not paracetamol etc* with just enough water to make it pasty, once a day until the bump went down. The bump was gone in about five days of that treatment. (the aspirin effectively burns the bump off without doing much damage to the pierce.)

So I've been reading up about piercings - I did mine totally wrong.
I cleaned it with peroxide, I had them done with a piercing gun, and I got them done by a non-professional agency. redface
I'm a total body mod n00b. BUT AT LEAST I DIDN'T GET MRSA FROM A DIRTY TATTOO! HAA!
(My brother's a bigger idiot than me!)
