(Note: these instructions are how to install and update YVD from scratch. If you already have an older version of YVD then you will need to fallow the instructions on www.xerocreative.com to upgrade to the newest version, or completely uninstall it and start from scratch fallowing these instructions.)

(Note: The instructions may be slightly out of date due to new webpage structure at any of the sites given. Keep this in mind)


Installing YVD And Updating The Card Sets

1. Go to www.xerocreative.com then under Downloads to the left of the page, click on Yugioh Virtual Desktop. Find the newest listing for YVD and download it. I forget if you have to register to the site or not, tho I do remember its free.

2. After you have it downloaded and saved, find the .exe file and install it. Its fairly straight forward.

3. Next will be updating the card sets for it. Test run the program to make sure its working before continuing.

4. www.scrollrack.com is your next stop. Once there, click on the bottom that says "Sets Page" and then beside "Complete Sets File (for YVD 8.6^)" click on "Download".

5. Once the Zip file is done downloading. Unzip it and then find the main file for YVD. Its most likely in Local Disk(C: ), then Program Files folder, then your YVD folder.

6. Drag and drop the yvd.set file that you unziped, into the YVD folder. It will ask you if you wish to replace a file by the same name, click yes.

7. Now run YVD agin and do a search for the card Cyber Dragon and if it finds it then you have just successfully updated YVD to have all the new cards. You are now ready to duel over YVD. The next hard part is learning how to use it. wink


Instaling Image Sets

1. First instal YVD and the Card Sets, and checked that everything is working properly.

2. Go to www.scrollrack.com and then click on the the "Images Page" botten near the top of the page.

3. Download the "Full Images Pack File". If your on dileup, this will take awhile.

4. Unzip the file. After you unzip it, dubble click it and it should try to install the image files to the corect places by defalt. If it dosn't or if you keep geting an error messige. You will have to select all the image folders and copy and past / move them into the YVD images folder manualy. Its normaly located at " C:/Program Files/YVD/Image ". Copy over any old image files that you might have in there.

5. Now test run YVD and see if the images are in there. Look for Cyber Dragon. If it has a pic to it, more then likely you'v just updateing the images corectly. ^_^


Createing a Deck

As soon as the program starts. The first that that will happen is it will bring up the "Deck Shop" box. This will let you form up the deck of your likeing, with any card in the game. If you know the card you whould like to use. Simply type in the name (make sure to spell it correctly) in the emptiy box with "Name Contains" beside it and click the "Search" botten. The card should pop up in the section underneath "Card Name". Then select the card and click on the "<--Add" botten underneath "deck". Presto! Its now in your virtual deck. ^_^ Its all vary strate forword and you shoudn't have any problims with it if you take your time and read the options given. It is also a grate way to research cards that have a spicif card effect. For instance, if you wished to know all the cards that whould let you discard from your hand when played. You could simply type in "discard" in the emptie box beside "Desc Contains" and searching. Also if you just wanted say... the Trap cards that let you do this. You whould just need to uncheck the boxs next to where it says "monsters" and "spells" only leaveing traps being searched.


Starting a Duel Over YVD

1. After Makeing your deck and haveing it ready and saved and all. Click on the "Use This Deck" botten. It will ask you if you are sure and then give you a list of the basic deck stats befor going into the normal dule mode of YVD.

2. Once you are there and have a friend talking to you (over IM, fourms, emaile or whatever). One of you will click on the small "Listen" botten, located near the bottem left. This will make another box pop up giveing you your most likely IP address. Highlight the adress and then right click it and click on "copy". After that click on the botten right before your IP adress that says "listen", and then give your IP adress to your friend by pasting it into the IM window or whatever you are useing.

3. If you are the friend receaveing the IP adress you will highlight the adress and copy. Then click on the "Connect" botten, located right below the "Listen" botten. Past the IP address into the emptiy box beside where it says "Opponent's IP:" and then click on "Connect".


Dueling Over YVD

This can be hard to get use to. I recoment you play around with it a while before atempting a duel. Get use to how it works and stuff is done.. also never be afrade to ask how to do something dureing a duel.

1. Who goes first - In "Chat" located at the top left inbetween "Game" and "GamePlay". You have micros for "heads!" and "tail!", click on one or the other at the start of a match. Then if your opponet dosn't do so, click on "GamePlay" and then "Flip Coin". If you call it right, you pick who goes first. If you don't, then your oppnet dose.

2. Drawing Cards - Click on the deck on your side of the field. Each time you click you will draw a card

3. Playing a Card - Once you have drawn your cards. Right click the card you wish to play, and then left click it. This will give you a list of options to do with the card. YVD isn't automatic in how the cards are playen. You will have to direct it properly your self, just like real life.

4. Life Points - Left click on your life poins number. This will give you a list of options to add or subtract exsact numbers from your LP. It also gives you the option to type in a custem amount of life points.

5. Phases - Simply click on wich Phase you are when as you go. No need to type out or say "your turn" anymore, yay! (Most peaple just do there turn with just clicking on "Draw Phase" and then "Opp. Turn" with out going thure all the phases to speed thangs up)

6. Make a Note - Placeing a sticky note on the field is vary usefull. Insted of trying to remember what all your monsters atk points are after playing a field spell card that changes everything. Just make stickys with there atk/def listed on it.. or notes on whatever you might need to. Right click the center of the field and then click on "Make Sticky Note".

7. Tokens - Right click the center of the field and then go down to where it says "Tokens" it will give you a list of all tokens in the game. Click on it and it will give you one of wich ever toke you picked. Repeat till you have the number you need.

8. Miscolanious - Shufeling your deck, drawing a card that is shown to your opponet, roleing a die, fliping a coin, showing your hand, viewing the top of your deck, bla bla bla... all this can be done under the "Game Play" option at the top.


YVD Glitches

1. If both opponits place a card at the same time on the field, both or one of the cards will dissapear from play. Be carefull of this. Eather restart the dule or make a sticky for wich ever cards have gone and play thure it.

2. If the conection is lost dureing a duel. You will most likely have to wait a minnit or two before it will let you start a new one agen.

3. For Windows Vista users (after you have it installed) right click the short cut on the desk top and click on "Run as Administrator" or you may get an error.

4. For users who have the language that windows displays everything in set to anything other then english, you may have errors trying to run yvd, the only way to fix this that I know if is to go in and change the language that your pc uses to english.
