The Mothman is the name given to a creature reported in the Charleston and Point Pleasant areas of West Virginia between November 12, 1966,[1] and December 1967. Most observers describe the Mothman as a winged man-sized creature with large reflective red eyes and large moth-like wings. The creature was sometimes reported as having no head, with its eyes set into its chest. A number of hypotheses have been presented to explain eyewitness accounts, ranging from misidentification and coincidence, to paranormal phenomena and conspiracy theories. The Mothman phenomenon is sometimes associated with a mystery man named "Indrid Cold," although the relationship between the two varies from story to story. In my opinion, I think it may have been some sort of demon, since it was a prophecy lol but Idk, I do believe it was real, though. It was always seen around the TNT camp areas used during the world war, where there were wastes, witch makes people think a bird or human may have slipped into it and somehow evolved into some mutant creature or w/e. And they said it had to deal with a prophecy dream combined with the bridge falling in Virginia, witch did happen. Ever since, the mothman was never seen again. Here's a picture when the bridge collasped; http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i318/JVM485/wtcangel.jpgAnd what he is described as looking; http://www.coasttocoastam.com/timages/page/Mothman071207a.jpgWhat are your opinions on this?

Well, I don't know about the theory itself. I'm rather skeptical of this one, really... (says the girl who thinks that bigfoot and the yeti could reasonably exist as well as a chupacabra, etc....)
But I will say this. I really do think that picture is faked. For one, it'd have to be a BIIIIIIIIIG picture for the zoomed version to still remain clear, not to mention the fact that it looks more like a bird in the smaller version. Also, the wings look to be consistent with the formation of a bird wing. (There are really birds that are quite large around here....though this is not anywhere near there, I'd assume there'd be something similar to them there.) The head could be pulled in for flight, much like that of a heron or a stork.
It could also be a simple game of perspective playing a trick. A bird could have been turned at that exact position and it could have been much closer to the camera than that building it's beside, thus playing it up as being huge...
Maybe those are shots in the dark for this thing....but whatever, right? ^^;
I'd sooner believe the picture was of an angel than Mothman, anyway. I'll look into learning a little more about Mothman from other sources so I can actually make a post of some quality on the feasibility of him, 'kay? biggrin

Rabbi Rag Doll well im not talking about the picture, im just wondering wether you think it may be real. but why do you think its an angel D: with red eyes D: ? I know, I know. I'm just saying that about the picture. It looks more like an angel or a bird there than anything. Like I said though, I need to do a little more reading before I really say definitively whether or not I believe in it or not. I mean, I heard about this from another friend....but I still haven't done the research. It doesn't really sound plausible though, to me. Depending on what things I find in the reading, I may change my thoughts on this. Who knows, right?

I've heard rumors about this flitting around here and there, but I've never heard the whole story. Do you know a website or something that has all the history that I could possibly read up on it? ^^

I am sure there are several sites on it. Usually wikipedia would hold enough infermation about it though.
Gosh, it would be soooo awsome to see it up close.

Never use wikipedia as a source. It's useful, but can-not be relied upon to remain the same from miniute to miniute, much less over a long period of time.

If you haven't already, pick up the book "The Mothman Prophecies." It was written by the man who lived Through it, John A. Keel. You'll even get to hear about some of the weirder stuff that was happening. Also, ignore the movie. It's an utter waste of time and crap, and so you're better off avoiding it all together. Anyways, all the info you'd Want/Need is in the 'Mothman Prophecies' book.

No, mauve. Not every site is fine. Some people go and deliberately change the information so it's wrong just for the lols. You need better sources.
