Here's my philisophical rant. I believe, that when the ice age hits, that we'll be forced underground. As humans, a lot of us may be saved. By a lot, I mean a few thousand. Well, after the world has once again thawed, we will emerge to witness the final years of Human life. A new species will have gained domination, and we may soon find ourselves extinct. I'd like to know what the species will be, but I can barely fathom a guess!

Okay, for discussion-
The way you think Armageddon will occur
Is my theory plausible
How long do you think the world would be frozen?

My vote was for nukes.
XD

I'm misanthropic enough to say that with a smile.

Well, there will definitely be an ice age 'soon' in geological years. Keep in mind 'modern' humans have only been around for 250,000 years out of 4.5 billion. They estimate the next ice age to be in 80,000 years. I honestly don't think humans will make it that long. And if we did, humans survived the last ice age in nomadic tribes without going underground.

Now that I think about it, the most likely cause of mass extinction would be an asteroid. They are more probable that you'd think. And if you think we have technology that would 'blow it up', you are soooo wrong. The first reason is that the chance of us actually knowing about it before it hits is by days or hours is slim. We would need months to years to launch the things you see in the movies. Even more importantly, splitting an asteroid would make it worse. We would just have widespread impacts. XD

Although, NASA is working on a project that would work if we had warning. The vessel would use it's tiny gravitational field to slowly alter the path of the asteroid just enough to let it skim by our gravitational field.

Your theory sounds like an excellent sci fi novel. 3nodding
I've read too many novels about the "end of days". Now I just find it so depressing and uncertain I try not to think about it. ^^ Whatever will happen will VERY DOUBTFULLY come in our lifetime (though I would have been worried if McCain had gotten in), so I'm not going to worry about it. =)

Also, I vote for squid. A race of super intelligent, highly evolved squid.
Cue fleeing masses of Japanese schoolgirls~
