Robert Downey, Jr. and Jon Favreau Suit Up For Marvel Studios' "The Avengers" and "Iron Man 2"

As part of his four picture deal with Marvel Studios, Robert Downey Jr. is appearing as Tony Stark in "The Avengers" motion picture, as well as reprising his starring role as the larger-than-life leading character in "Iron Man 2." Jon Favreau will return to direct the sequel to the blockbuster "Iron Man," which to date has grossed over $578 million worldwide, as well as executive produce "The Avengers."

Academy Award® nominee Downey was most recently seen in the summer comedy blockbuster "Tropic Thunder" starring opposite Ben Stiller and Jack Black. Before "Iron Man," he was best known for his film roles in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "Wonder Boys" and "Chaplin," the film for which he was nominated for an Oscar®.

In addition to directing the first "Iron Man," Favreau has previously directed "Elf," "Zathura: A Space Adventure" and "Made." He is also well known for writing and starring in "Swingers." He will next be seen acting in "Four Christmasses," "I Love You Man" and "Couples Retreat."

Don Cheadle Will Star as Rhodey in "Iron Man 2"

Marvel Studios is pleased today to confirm that an agreement has been finalized with award-winning actor Don Cheadle to take on the role of Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes in Marvel's "Iron Man 2" due in theaters on May 7, 2010. In casting Cheadle, Marvel replaces Terrence Howard who appeared in the role of Rhodey in Iron Man.

Cheadle is also signed on to perform the same role in "The Avengers" and subsequent installments of the "Iron Man" franchise.

"We are very excited about working with the extraordinarily talented Don Cheadle as we expand the role of Rhodey in 'Iron Man 2.' It has already become apparent as we prep the movie for production, that the dynamic between Robert and Don will take 'Iron Man 2' to new heights," said Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.

Cheadle is best known for his Oscar® nominated lead performance in "Hotel Rwanda" as well as his role as Basher Tarr in the "Ocean's" franchise, "Crash" and "Swordfish."

Based on Marvel's iconic Super Hero, "Iron Man 2" continues the story of this summer's box office blockbuster IRON MAN, the first feature film produced independently by Marvel Studios. "Iron Man 2" will be produced by Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D'Esposito, Jon Favreau, Stan Lee, David Maisel and Denis Stewart.

In a movie event, "The Avengers" will bring together the super hero team of Marvel Comics characters for the first time ever, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk and more, as they are forced to band together to battle the biggest foe they've ever faced.

The highly anticipated sequel to "Iron Man" will be released in theatres on May 7, 2010 and "The Avengers" will be released July 15, 2011. Both films will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. http://www.marvel.com/news/moviestories.5719.Iron_Man_2_and_The_Avengers_Update

xmen origins coming soon!
2009's still in diapers, but we're starting off strong with this brand new photo from May's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" movie.

First shown in the pages of Entertainment Weekly and on EW.com, this pic of a very wet—and very angry—Logan played by the indomitable Hugh Jackman should whet fans appetites as we get closer to the movie's May 1 release.

Punisher War Zone has left the Theaters. Watch for the release date of the DVD and Blueray!
Thor is tba still. My thoughts, before the avengers of course.
Captain America might not have his own movie but lets hope.
Captain America has an old 90's film of Captain America himself. Doctor Strange has his own movie too from the 70's. Nick Fury(White) has his own movie too. All of these movies are all Live Action. More News later.

As Marvel Studios powers up to begin production on its next highly anticipated slate of films, the studio has made an agreement with Raleigh Studios to film each of Marvel's next four films at Raleigh's facility in Manhattan Beach, CA.

The four projects to be produced at the studio facility over the next three years include "Iron Man 2," "Thor," The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers."

Keeping these four major tent pole film productions in Southern California allows the studio access to outstanding crews and resources and makes Marvel the largest tenant on the Raleigh lot.

Additionally, Marvel Studios will move its Beverly Hills-based executive and production offices to Raleigh's facility in Manhattan Beach.

"In making this deal with Raleigh to produce our upcoming films at the Manhattan Beach Studios, we are most excited about keeping our film production here in California and taking advantage of the best crews in the Los Angeles area," said Louis D'Esposito, Marvel's President of Physical Production. "All of our production partners on these upcoming films have been incredibly accommodating in terms of their creativity and financial structures, allowing us to remain in California. Raleigh Studios has long been known for the superior quality of its film production facilities and we know that Manhattan Beach will be the ideal location to produce our movies to the highest standards that our fans expect."

"We are thrilled that we were able to find a way to make this deal work for Marvel," said Michael Moore, Raleigh Studios President. "We could not have asked for a greater compliment than having a quality company like Marvel put their faith in us to provide a home for its film productions."

The Marvel live action releases to be filmed at Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios are scheduled to arrive in theaters beginning in 2010 and going through 2011. Specifically the release dates are "Iron Man 2" on May 7, 2010; "Thor" on July 16, 2010; "The First Avenger: Captain America" on May 6, 2011; and "The Avengers" on July 15, 2011.

I dont like it when they change the actors in movies, but then again Ray Stevenson was the best Punisher they ever had in my book.

Im curious about Don Cheadle but isnt he in his 50's?

I have no clue how old the man is. I just know he looks like the old action figure of Colonel James Rhodes and War Machine with mask up.
In Other News! Iron Man 2 is rumored to have Nick Fury and Whiplash in as cameos. Whiplash might have a more prominent role but Nick Fury(Samuel Jackson) will have an appearance as he promised to stick with Iron Man. To bad Howard Terrance didnt. I liked how he acted. Release date of Iron Man 2 has been moved to 7 May 2010 (USA). I dont know about you guys but I highly anticipate this movie. This is where War Machine is introduced into the Marvel Universe. For those of us who know who War Machine is congrats! For those of us who don't go to Marvel.com or google War Machine-even our guild homepage has his picture(headshot). If you wish to wait to see War Machine in Iron Man 2 that is ok as well. War Machine's blue prints are shown in the first few lines of the credits of Iron Man(1). To tell it apart from Iron Man's blueprints look for the trademark Machine Gun attached to the shoulder. Whiplash's actor is still in process. I will post a picture of whiplash for those of us who dont know this character as well.

Good to see War Machine will be appearing in the new movie, he was always damn cool in the 90's cartoon. Really looking forward to this man, the first movie was outstanding, hope the second can measure up.

Iron Man 2 news from superhero hype.com

Entertainment Weekly is reporting the rumor that Scarlett Johansson is in discussions with Marvel Studios to replace Emily Blunt for the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow, in Iron Man 2.

Blunt's commitment to 20th Century Fox and the studio's upcoming Gulliver's Travels may prohibit her from co-starring in the superhero sequel.

Marvel will not confirm, but sources tell EW that Johansson has indeed met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking the role. Blunt's reps are still trying to make both projects work, but "Gulliver's" is further along, with a start date of April 15. Iron Man 2 still doesn't have a shooting script and a start date has not yet been determined.

More below

Mickey Rourke has told New York Magazine that it's looking like he won't be playing the villain in Iron Man 2:

But so what if ICM's David Unger doesn't look good in a dress — at least he's battling Marvel for a bigger paycheck for Rourke for his rumored role as a villain in Iron Man 2, right? "Right now, we're not doing Iron Man 2," Rourke told us grimly.

In January, the news broke that Marvel had offered the award-winning "Wrestler" star just $250,000 to play a villain in the sequel. Perhaps further negotiations didn't go so well? Also, Rourke is now firmly attached to star in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables, which starts shooting shortly and might interfere with the Iron Man 2 shoot.
