Hmmm...I see why you are asking, this is a tough one. I like swatch #1 the best I think. I happen to like circular patterns.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards that one myself, but there is something really neat about the second one that makes me still consider it. *Still hasn't made up her mind*

The second one seems like it would have more warmth. Is that true?

Actually I think they would more or less provide the same amount of warmth. the second one looks like a more solid design, but when actually handled proves to be surprisingly airy, like the first.

First one, looks cuter/smaller & more baby-like. I think the other one's too... bulky... Is that a word?

I agree with Uma and Jody... the first one seams to be more "baby-friendly"

I like the second one myself. Then again I had an oversized pillow with a pattern similar to it so that's probably why I like it more.
Both are nice patterns though. But yeah, I like the second one.

Thanks, everybody. Finally broke down and asked the recipient what she wanted, all she told me was that she was sure it would be wonderful, hehe. Still having problems deciding though, the first one is very cutesy, which is perfect for a girl baby, but I like the way the second one feels. *shrugs* Still, I have time to decide, this project doesn't actually have a date, unlike those christmas presents I still have to finish... sweatdrop oops, lol.

I've finally made a decision. I'm going with the first one, because upon handling the swatches again I realized the first one will stand up to more wear and tear than the second, which is more delicate in nature. I am definitely using the second for another project however, it screams to be used. smile

I had a circular one when I was little, and it didn't fall apart nearly as much as my brother's did, which was the square pattern.

Thanks for letting me know. That was one of the things I was afraid of with the square one, good to know I judged it right. smile
