No one told her she was going to get fat. Piper padded heavily through the territory she called home, her stomach swinging from side to side slightly with every movement. Her body ached from the pups taking her nutrients and she found that she ate alot more than usual. Her moods changed like a light switch flipping and it wasn't rare that she turned on her doting mate when he got on her nerves with flashing fangs and a glare that read 'back off bitchboy'. Piper was more than ready for these little demons to get out of her belly. She hadn't, not once, felt the surge of maternal hope a mother was supposed to feel. She didn't yet care for the squirming, kicking whelps that nestled under her ribs and bruised them. For all she cared, Hurricane could eat them. She flopped down by her den, her muzzle resting on her paws and her tail flat out behind her. She briefly wondered if her own mother had felt anything towards them as puppies. She wondered, then, if Gerda was still sticking around Gomorrah. She wondered if the mute wolfess might want to see her grandchildren. Then pride rose up like bile in her throat, forcing her to chase those stray daughterly thoughts away. Gerda was a useless wolf. She snarled to herself and hoped that the little wench had gotten rid of herself.

He had been avoiding Piper as much as he could lately. Ever since she had swollen with puppies, she'd become some sort of hell spawn. Sometimes not even sure if she was worse then his own mother at her bitchest moment. Though he wanted to be a good mate and he wanted to give her a reasuring nuzzle, he infact was worried she was going to rip his neck out for 'doing this to her'. He sighed and after mustering up all his gaul and courage padded to where Piper seamed to be brooding about the litter in her belly.
He gave a half smile at her threw the rabbit he was jiggling in his mouth. It prehaps no more then a baby that couldn't even hop away from it's den. It really wasn't a fitting meal for anyone. But with Hurricane's gimp leg he was luckey he even caught the sleeping babe.
Placing it down infront of her he sighed. "I'm sorry I couldn't get anything more fitting for you love." He almost compulsivly moved his rear leg out of her view as if he felt embaressed to the core about it. Yes he'd been brave back in the day taking down that one peice of deer flesh. But it left him so ungaurded- so unable to take care of himself now, and expecially Piper- Piper who was carrying HIS children. Oh how worthless he felt at times.

The alphess knew his avoidance was for his own good. And hers, as well. Lately she'd been feeling so... so... Combatant. Like a wild animal struggling in the jaws of another. The feeling made her lash out unexpectedly. She respected Hurricane for leaving her be and at the same time, wondered when the pups would be born. She missed her old self.
She caught his smile and flashed a grin of her own. The smell of the baby rabbit made her stomach growl, the blood a delicious scent on the wind. With a wag of her tail, she hoisted herself to her feet and nuzzled his muzzle, thanking him with glittering eyes before laying back down to tear into the meal.
"It's perfect, Hurri." And it was. The meat was tender, the muscles rarely used. She ate in silence, then pulled herself into a sit beside him, looking longingly out to the forest. "How I miss hunting with you..." But they both knew she shouldn't leave the den. Not now, anyway. Not until the puppies were born.

As he looked back at her he was washed over with a warm wave of comfort. His own muzzle tenderly caressing her own. "Glad you like it." His eyes seamed to beam threw his own inward pain. So many things seamed to plague his wandering mind. Mostly his family with Piper and their safety. He looked down at the bulge Piper was hiding under her fur and the joy washed over his face once again. At least thankful for him- she was strong, brave, and without hesitation could have the world following behind her paws. So much opposite to his own personality. He was in fact a dreamer, a lover, something so completely parallel to the wolf he held dearest in his heart.
But that was okay. If Hurricane had been an exact clone of Piper...well they wouldn't be having puppies. His heart also might have been hardened just like his mother, and for the orange wolf he liked to care too much to ever give that up. Also chances were without love he might have been just as mad as his brother, closed off from the world and having nothing to live for. He felt slightly ashamed of that as if it was his fault. Like he took something Tornado rightly deserved. Then his eyes peered back to her bulge again. He didn't fear his mother hurting them- she had boundaries. But one day, just one day he feared...he might have to do something he regretted. Something he didn't want to think about.
Ah his poor brother. He sighed and nuzzled Piper again praying that day would never have to come. Hopefully for his own good he'd be smart enough just to stay away. But he knew in his heart that wasn't going to happen.

As Piper nuzzled her muzzle into the dusty fur at the nape of her mate's neck, she was left to think. Her thoughts drifted back to her wayward puppyhood. To where she wandered around, a spirited young pup.
She thought of the fateful day she met Hurricane. It was fate that they met, afterall. Just as it was fate that Hurricane's twin brother, Tornado, was insane as the black of day.
She nibbled Hurri's ear, smiling wistfully. "What does your brother think of our soon to be children?" She knew Tornado hated her for taking away his twin...but who knew? Perhaps if she wasn't here for Hurricane, he would be just as insane as his twin...

He didn't really plan to have it come out like it did, but to Piper's question he simply remarked "Tasty." When she questioned what Tornado would think of the litter. The single bolted twin recently had gone beyond the point of normality and even insanity when he had grown a taste for his own kind. And moreso for relations then before. But if Hurricane knew anything Piper and his children were probally tops on the list of things to devour. Piper had taken the one think Tornado had loved, the one thing that had kept him grounded- his brother. Though even if Hurricane had been there the orange pup had grown delusions that he would kill father and mate with his mother.
Though leaving the way he did probally unsettled the pup more. "I'm glad he dosn't know though- and I hope he never will." He said with worry and urgency in his voice. He for one didn't want to kill his own flesh and blood. No matter how much they deserved it he couldn't find it in his gut let alone his heart to distroy such a poor creature.

Tasty...
She was afraid of that. She shuddered at the image that flashed into her head; Hurricane, broken on the sidelines, one of their pups hanging from Tornado's clamped jaws, blood dripping down around them and onto the earth, where the other pups lay, slain. She reacted with a soft growl, butting her head against her mate.
"Will your family tell him?" She worried about Twist's mentality sometimes. Even if she was her mother in law. And what about Idogbe and Shezaam? Piper's mane bristled slightly. Would they tell him? Would she someday have to flee Gomorrah to keep Hurricane and their children safe?

Licking her nose he shook his head confidently. "Mother is evil- but she by far is not stupid. She has more to gain by our litter then having brother eat them. If anything- and I know her well she would probally have him slain if the time did come that our pups were in trouble; As for my siblings. They haven't had anything to do with him since he was outcasted. They probally have the same fears we do since having pups of there own."
"Though-" He paused and looked at her long and hard butting his own head agaist hers. "He by far isn't stupid- it's just a matter that his brain dosn't function properly. My worry is that he'll find out on his own sooner or later." He almost wished for the moment that they weren't having any puppies.

She relaxed at the fact that he trusted his mother enough. If he trusted her, and he seemed to be her favorite. Then she trusted Twist as well, as hard as that was for such a proud female.
Piper knew that Tornado wasn't stupid; in fact, he might be brilliant. That was the scary thing. "I suppose he'll recognize them... We'll have to keep them safe in Gomorrah until they're old enough to protect themselves." She took a pause, breathing in his scent and smiling. For now, she felt peaceful. "We can only hide them for so long. And who knows... Maybe he won't hate them. Maybe we're just scared."

"I'll bet 100% that he'll hate them. And if I know my brother. He'll come into Gommorah to have his way with them. We just have to keep watch and be diligent." His ears flattened having the same vision as Piper did earlier- except his continued with his brother hanging limp from his own jaws. And instead of him on the side- it was his mate Piper bleeding out into the earth. Then as he looked at his twins empty eyes he could see his own reflecting there. The dark insanity swirling and passing from brother to brother. And that familar smirk washing over his own face whiping away the hint of any sane smile.
"I will protect them agaist my brother's sickness even if it kills me..." 'Before it takes me...' He went on in his own mind as if he could see what he would become once the lonelyness overtook him. I don't want to be like him. He started to repeat him his own mind over and over again. I will not loose my family to the darkness...

Piper didn't know he feared becoming his brother. She didn't know very much about the illness that Tornado was plagued with, afterall. She just knew that when he stared at her, he stared at her with such a hatred that it was unimaginable.
She grinned up at Hurri, her old self shining through. "I'll protect them with you, by your side, love. We'll keep them safe...don't worry." Then something happened that shocked the white wolfess. One of the pups moved downwards. It caused a sharp pain to ripple up her side. Piper fell to the ground, squirming in pain as the first contraction squeezed the litter downwards. "Hurri..." she breathed, wildeyed. "I think they're coming..."

Those very words shook Hurricane from his own inward fears. They were probally dispreportional in the least. But his family did have some semblence of a mental illness passed threw his lines. Idogbe the luckey one became a seer. His mother the spawn of it all was enraged by power. But then again Kattana and Shelby...he blinked a few times now looking head on at Piper. His eyes turned loving again and the cold dismal look passed over them.
He then turned to the wall of the cave and grabbed the pelts of the animals they had skinned. Then laying them next to Piper. He nuzzled her and guided her to lie on them. He wouldn't have his love uncomforable. He wouldn't have anything but happyness for there pair. He then turned to her his gimpy leg sagging from the excitment. "Is there anything I can get you- to make you more comfortable? Less Hungry? Anything?" He licked at her cheak once again tenderly.

The she-wolf had worried about that earlier in her term. Tornado -was- Hurricane's twin. What if through blood, Piper and Hurricane threw a pup that was a little...off in personality? What would happen then?
But it didn't matter not. Not yet. She could worry about it later. She shifted her weight, curling her body up on the pelts laid out for her lovingly by her mate. "No, Hurri... Just lay down. We have to wait..." Wait for the pups to come. Wait for their lives to change dramatically in only hours.

He nodded at her and with a slow ease settled himself and his bum leg onto the pelts next to Piper. He then took his fluffy neck and rested it upon hers tenderly. "Well if you need anything- don't be afraid to ask." He beamed at her all proud and fatherly. Slightly greatful that he wasn't the one giving birth. He could only guess how females felt in that time of pain. He only remebered little thoughts about his own entry into this world. His mother wailing in pain. That was all though- but for a puppy he had an amazing memory of his first few moments.
His eyes then danced over her buldge again. He could see the movement from within. Then a thought dawned on him. Would he be a good father?. Tornado far out of his mind it was probally the gripe of a first time dad. He in no way wanted to be like his mother; ignoring her puppies and trying to twist them into her own devious ways. He wanted his children to grow up happy, loving, and maybe when they were older he could teach them things that would truely better each of there lives. Another thought then danced into his mind- Would he be able to provide for them? His leg gave a slight twinge at the thought.
Would his children become like him? Gimpy and in pain from accidents he couldn't control. He almost shuttered in fear as he saw there futures in his mind. The thought raced threw his head once more. Would he make a good father? Or would he fail just the same as his own parents did?

As her belly contracted wickedly, sending the she-wolf into a curled ball, she was forced to think about nothing but the pain. Gradually it subsided, and Piper let her mind wander to names. What would they call the little ones? Gerda had given her and her siblings the names they bore, and they were surprisingly good ones, Piper thought. All of them but Beauty, but Beauty fit the little wolf who was named that. Abital's name was one fit for a thief and Akiva held an underlying rage to it, just like her brother. She gave a small smile. And Piper was seductive.
Soon, the pains gathered closer and closer together. She ground her teeth together against the agony, shuddering with each contraction. The first puppy was coming. She could feel it, a little beast suspended in a bag of water, waiting for its birth. She wondered if it would be male or perhaps female, and with a squeak of discomfort, she pushed herself up against Hurricane, panting.
And there, between her legs lay a tiny little ball slick with blood and fluid. Ears flicking back, she could only stare at it. That was her child? That...thing...? With a soft growl, she nudged it rather roughly, pulling away the placenta from its useless little body. Her mind was dead set against liking something so...so...worthless... Until the pup squeaked, his pelt predominantly orange, and began to suckle. Then her eyes softened and she relaxed into her mate once more, grateful for the break of pain.
