This is probably a little random. But some how, while I'm in math class and have nothing to do but geometry problems, I get ideas.
Would it be possible to make home made teddy bears, like I'm learning to do, and stuff them with herbs?
Which kind of herbs?
I got the idea from dream pillows. I forget where I read about those though.

That seems like it would work. Something like a sachet.
For little kids, something calming like camomille may be good...

Could you use a lavender scent? I've heard that that's supposed to be relaxing.

This reminds me of what the Inuit used to do. ^^ While traveling, the Inuit did not like to carry anything extra, everything had a use - including dolls. Inuit women would make dolls for the little girls, and the dolls were stuffed with a back up supply of tea. This way, if the original supply ran out while traveling, they could remove the tea from the little dolls and restuff them whenever they had a chance. surprised
Anyway, having teddy bears stuffed with soothing herbs is a neat idea especially for children with sleeping disorders. But you wouldn't want to use too much because even the most relaxing scents can be too over powering when there's a concentrated amount nearby.

Many moms lately are somewhat grossed out about stuffed animals as they tend to be a germ magnet. If you did something like this I'd make the sachet removeable and the teddy bear of a thin enough and durable enough fabric that it would go into the wash easily and dry nice. You could even make one with a cloth that mom sprays some of her perfume onto as the smell of "mom" tends to be more soothing than most herbs out there.

That's a great idea! I could get some camomile tea bags and just stick them in. Then probably add a zipper or something. Or buttons. But then there's the problem of button holes.
I never knew the Inuit did that. Now I feel educated. <3
Thanks a lot!
Any other input?

I think it's a great idea.... *steals it* I do a lot of aromatherapy work so this really meshes with what I already do. ^^ I'll make a proto-type for a friend of mine's baby. And as someone said, lavender is a very relaxing herb just from it's smell. However, for chamomile to be effective, it should be drank.

Esopha I never knew the Inuit did that. Now I feel educated. <3 After I realized my great grandparent was Inuit, I decided to learn more about the mostly lost culture. whee
Unfortunately I can't remember the actual name of the doll.

*nodnod* Hops is great for sleeping, as lavender does give some people migraines. Not me, but someone above me posted that and a friend of mine HATES it. Kinda like I hate heamatite.

It's true that lavender is not for everyone. It causes headaches and migraines for many people -myself included- Many people cannot tolerate a strong lavender scent.

I normally love lavendar, but while in labor...It made me nauseous! LOL...I'd be afraid to put sleeping agents in a teddy bear that could be used for infants. With SIDs being a condition where the baby falls into too deep of a sleep to rouse and "forgets" to breathe for lack of a better word...the lighter the sleep the better. However...as for your buttons idea...nope...chokingh hazard...VELCRO! hehehe.

I was thinking more along the lines for, oh I don't know, my 9th and 10th grade peers. xD So buttons would be fine. Velcro is expensive, and I have no money.
Maybe a lighter smell would be better, as lavender can be heavy. Not necessarily for herbal properties, but just to smell nice...
