Years had passed since the fall of Granthos to illness and the passing of the Elder gods. Angstrom Himself was so stricken by this blow, something he felt so keenly, he temporarily lost his senses. In an act of wild abandon, he let flow from him the Godly Ambrosia that was him and allowed several chosen mortals to suckle from this tap.
They grew into their new roles with surprising speed- though this rapid pace would be their downfall. Many of their minds, being once mortal, could not hope to handle the stresses of the greater minds. Some went insane from hearing the voices in their heads, day in and day out.
But by far, the largest purge of the gods was the Thorn War, in which Kel'Jaed of the Black thorn rose up from hell commanding the undead legions to strike at the very gods themselves. He succeeded in eliminating fully half of the new Divines before he was slain forever by Angstrom, the last Elder god.
Let this be a reminder to even the most arrogant of beings, that even the most powerful of those that exist may make flaws in judgement, mistakes in action.
