I've been looking around the forums a little bit, and I see threads -- I haven't checked them all -- for Uzura and other characters. So I thought; "Where's dark / evil Mytho's thread?"

Mytho is my favorite character out of Princess Tutu, and as of late I've become a major fan of the dark / evil Mytho, but I don't any fans of his...like anywhere. </3
Seriously, the guy needs some more love. x3;

So just hop in and talk about Mytho and Dark / Evil Mytho.
Say what ya like and don't like about him, etc. Just cuss and discuss.

My Love Shall Burn for You

When Mytho turned into dark / evil Mytho, I screamed at the computer screen...every episode...I swear...>__>
Well, it's an interesting part of Mytho. The scene when he was combing Rue/Kraehe's hair made me grit my teeth.
"...after all, you can't do anything. You're just a raven." That line made me mad...
He's cool..all in all.

Heh, since Rue/Kraehe seems to be your favorite character, I can understand why you got rather ticked at his comment -- let alone at who he became.
But personally, I just laughed ( 'cause I'm weird like that ) and thought "Oh snap!"

But despite what he said and did to her, it didn't stop me from loving him.
To me he was completely awesome, even if he was turning into quite a jerk. Then again, that's what the Raven's blood does to a person, I suppose.

Hmm...I suppose you're right about the Raven's blood. [Poor Rue...]

Oh my, I DO love Raven!Mytho * 3*

I dunno, I think what I really like is the inner conflict it brings to Mytho's character. Throughout all of season one, he was just like a puppet on strings- he didn't do much of anything interesting on his own, like a prop on a stage for the dancers to use as they moved the story along around him.

But after it's revealed he's been tainted with raven's blood, he becomes a force on his own. It's a wonderful contradiction- an innocent hero turned dastardly villain, and a damned good villain at that. You could argue that he's still a puppet being controlled by the Raven, but to me his walk on the "dark side" really helps illuminate and strengthen his character up into the finale.

It's also an important part of the series for Rue, who gets to see first-hand that he boy she fell in love with became someone completely different and dark because of how she tried to manipulate him in the first place. It's this regret for that I think helps develop her character as well, into the "real" Rue that forms near the end, free of the Raven's influence.

(Plus his costume is awesome 8D )

I'm glad I could spin things in a different light whee ! I really like examining shows like PT, because there's so many layers~ It's a rare anime with some awesome character development that's fun to read into.

Oh Ryoko! *glomps*
Good to see another Raven!Mytho fan~ <3

I loooved it when Mytho became evil. It spurred him on to do things his own way (in sense), like you said. Instead of being a puppet for everyone else, he had his own intentions and tangents to go off on. Even if he was working for the Raven in a roundabout way, he still did things his way rather than sitting around.

Love how you described everything too, Ryoko. x3

8D! *is glomped* I'm glad to see other fans out there that are so enthusiastic! *glomps back!*

By the way, LOVE your avatars guys~ *meant to say that earlier*

I'm glad that all made sense to you Philia! I always worry that when I go off on those rants/musings and such that no one will know what I'm talking about, or particularly care xD; I enjoy it though, so I'm glad you liked it as well heart !

(And BTW, if you're collecting hearts for your Raven!Mytho, you can add mine to to the list whee )

Hey, speaking of musings...

Philia, I love the quotes you have at the top/bottom of your post. Makes me think- Mytho went from one extreme (perfect innocence) to the other (total darkness), and in the end he ends up living with both- kind of like ordinary people, a mix of light and dark, good and bad urges, ext. (Did Mytho say he would always be changed by the taint of the raven's blood, or did my brain just make that up~?)

"When here I love everyone in the world and want to protect them...
But I also want to make all the world's love my own."

I think a lot of people can relate to that- trying to balance out selflessness with selfishness~ That Mytho has that battle going on really highlights how he's changing.

Too tired to go on with that train of thought x_x;

x3

Thanks! I saw a Prince Mytho and thought I'd be the evil side~

Oh, I understood it. It was lovely. Tangents are nice to go off on. Especially in speech class. It gives you your time easily. *nodnod*

Awesome! Raven!Mytho now has two hearts!
No one else wants to give him theirs </3

Aw, thankies so much. Those are some of my favorite sayings Mytho says in the series when he's fighting with himself.
It's been awhile since I've actually watched the whole series (will get around to watching it again soon, hopefully), but I do think he said something along those lines. He knows he can't let the raven's blood conquer him, but it will never go away.

Heh, that's a good point. People do generally struggle with that. And when Mytho struggles with it, it makes me a little sad you know? He's always risked his well being for others (jumping out windows, going into burning homes, etc). So I think he can be just a little more selfish sometimes.
But that's just me.

I still love Mytho anyway~

I'm glad it made sense! And speech class... *shudder*

They'll all "see the light" eventually... OR THE DARK. Ohoho~

*brick'd*

Yeah, that was lame...

But yeah, I'm (sort of) in the process of watching it again myself, and I can't wait to get to the second half with Raven!Mytho.

I agree with you about him needing to think of himself more often... taking care of yourself IS a way of taking care of the people you care about, since if something bad happens to you, it will hurt them, right? So maybe he came to the conclusion that a little selfishness (in healthy doses) isn't wrong, but human.

Speech class is awful.
It really is.

*snicker* Nicely put.
I like that. Honestly.

*should quest for hearts someday...for Valentine's Day maybe*
That would be interesting.

That is true. Caring for oneself eases the worry of those close to you. Though, I don't think Mytho has realized that until the very end. And even at that point he didn't seem to fully understand it either. He still seemed a little confused, but then again that was a new thing for him.

It IS. But thank goodness it's over now whee !

xD; I'm glad it amused someone! Oh, and questing for hearts is an awesome idea for anytime of the year. At least if you're Mytho.

Yeah, he really did seem confused at the end, poor kid heart . But I think he really matured as a character in that he was taking in enough new information to be confused (instead of just oblivious and uncaring as he was through much of the series). Given time I'm sure he'd have figured things out.

Waah your deep analyses of Mytho make me happy. heart

I'm the one person in the poll so far who's voted against dark Mytho. I think it definitely adds a dimension to his character, and while in some sense this makes him less of a puppet, in another sense he's just becoming another person's puppet.

I guess I mostly voted against because it breaks my heart to see him evil, and have to regret it later.

Analyzing anime characters is heart !

whee

Yeah, that's true... it's sad that Mytho can't really break the chain of puppetry, as it were. But it kind of fits into that whole theme; he and Rue both stick to their given roles and were given the happy ending, while Ahiru and Fakir broke from theirs and got the 'glory'. "Happiness for those who accept their fate; glory for those who resist their fate" and all that jazz.

He DOES go from one extreme to the other, good to evil ; 3; Poor kid. But he does come out of it pretty well.
