Well, it's a masked ball, and most people are supposed to wear ballroom clothes. Fancy dresses, tuxedos, a mask that ties on, and dancing shoes. And maybe even a spritz of perfume or cologne. Who knows? You might just find a secret love...
(PM me if you want to roleplay first, then we can get started here. I need to go over a few things before we start. No profile needed, just a picture.)

Vincent Vladmire, a hopeless romantic and an adverturous rouge stepped through the doors of his wonderfully large bedroom. The rain outside hitting the windows like insults to his lack of charm with womenfolk, and it annoyed him. "Yes, I know... It's unhealthy to go through life without someone.." His angelic voice chimed to the rain.
"Absurd brother, you have me." Victoria Vladmire stood at the entrance to his room, her long blonde hair flowing over her gentle sholders and around her perfect face. "Silly goose, put on your mask. The Ball is tonight, you know." She giggles, the sound like christmas bells, "and Vincent, you should probably stop talking to unrespondable objects." His kid sister spoke this last sentance as she fled down the hallway, her new blue and black lace dress suiting her wonderfully.
"I know, Victoria.." He said softly, a sadness filling his heart as he put on his dashing velvet mask, giving a small glance at the mirror. "Well done Vincent, you now wear two masks..." He followed his sister into the hallway then.
(Good beginning?)

((OMG wondeful beginning! I love how proper you are! Are you British? o.O))
"Rain, rain. Go away," Mary sang childishly. She twirled around her brightly lit room, avoiding scattered clothing and a few papers. She wore a forest green silk dress that flowed from her waist in smooth ruffles, and a silver mask was placed over her eyes, with swirls of silver dust that caught the light every so often. It was a very simple ensemble, but it was all she could find. "Come again another day," she chimed. Mary's feet were bare and she was on her toes, her hands holding the ends of her dress like a gown. She twirled and twirled in her room until she very well thought the dizzying sensation would be permanent, but she continued as if she didn't feel it.
Mary stopped for a brief moment and waited as the sensation slowly drifted away. When she could see herself properly in the mirror, she smiled. At the dress, of course, and the beauty of the mask, which she pulled away from her eyes. Her face was plain, but she didn't mind. Better to be ugly and carefree than beautiful and showered with love and admiration from people who didn't really care. She pulled the mask back on and smiled as she slipped into her black heels and clasped a chair around her neck. The tiny charm on it was a silver squirrel, with didn't match at all, but it was a birthday present and she loved it.
"Best be off," she murmured to herself, picking up her overcoat and heading out of her room.

(^ ^ No, but thanks for the compliment, doll. I'm a novelist, is all.)
Victoria reached the doors to the BallRoom, her eligant feet already waltzing to the beat inside. "Oh, Vincent! It's lovely!" She turned to see her brother, an awkward look pasted to his face. "Pardon, but what is the matter?" She clasped his hand in hers.
"Nothing, Sister." He assured her, a fake smile spreading across his face. "Go, have fun, be safe." He kissed her forhead.
She smiled charmingly, "Okey. But, promise me you'll dance with someone?" She pouted, and it wasn't fare, she was so pretty it hurt.
Vincent sighed, "Okey, I promise." he twisted his pinky gently with hers. "Now, be off with you!" He smiled for real now, the emotion reaching his eyes in a brilliant sparkle as he watched his sister begin dancing with a tall young man.

Mary arrived at the ball in time to see that it had already begun. She took off her overcoat and a man took it to put it with the others. She thanked him and walked into the ball room, watching couples waltz to the music. With a smile, she walked to the other side of the room, seeing the long tables piled high with food. She picked up a glass--a very elegant, clear goblet--and poured herself a drink. She sipped it, walking along the tables to see what other meals there were.
Mary hummed to the music as she settled herself in a corner of the room. She watched the other couples dance as she sipped her drink, her fingers running over the silk ruffles. "Rain, rain. Go away," she whispered to herself, wishing she could go outside to dance in peace.

Vincent browsed the room, "women.. they always travel in packs.." He swallowed hard, unsure how to go about asking a lady to dance. "Vincent... Come now, you promised your sister..." He spoke to himself. "A drink.. That'll help." he poured himself a drink from a fine goblet, admoring the craftsmanship of the glass, taking a sip as he looked around the room. There, in the corner, "alone?.." He couldn't believe his luck. He set down the glass, striding over to the girl by the window. "Erm, hello M'am, may I have this dance?" He held his hand out to her effortlessly, the other behind his back like a gentleman.

Mary drummed her fingers along the edge of the goblet until she noticed someone walking in her direction. She looked away, sure he was going to someone else. That was, until he stopped in front of her and held out his hand to dance. "Oh, um..." She glanced around, making sure he was talking to her. "Sure," she said, smiling lightly. She set her glass down and took his hand.

Vincent helped her stand, brushing her hand ever so softly with his lips. "Thank you." He brought her to him, his hand curving around her waist professionaly as the other cupped her left hand. "Shall we?" He smiled charmingly.

Mary felt goosebumps rise on her arms as the man kissed her hand. She took his his right hand and her left she rested delicately on his shoulder. She didn't answer him, only began to dance with him. "Do you have a name, sir?" she asked pleasantly. "Or would you prefer if I called you 'Sir' for the rest of the dance?" She tilted her head to the side in simple curiousity, smiling impishly.

"Yes, actually." he spun her round gracefully, admiring the sight. "It's Vincent. " He smiled just as impishly, "and you, fair one?" He smiled widely. "Do you hold a name, or must I call you 'M'am'?" He lead her around the room, knowing his way in a dance like the back of his hand.

"Vincent," she repeated as he spun her around. "'Fair one?' For that, I'm sure you're mistaken." She twirled under his hand then placed her own on his shoulder again. "And I'm Mary, not 'M'am.'"

"Very well, Mary." He said her name with calm adoration. "It's a beautiful name. And It suits you." He winked, pulling her closer as he began to dance a little faster, making sure she could keep up with him easily.

"Thank you," Mary said as she was pulled closer. She blushed at his wink, then looked over his shoulder at other dancing couples. When Vincent started to dance faster she moved with him for a few steps, then she stumbled over the tangle of feet as his moved faster and hers slowed down. "Sorry," she murmured, trying to keep up better.

he smiled, moving smoother so she could keep up better. "I'm sorry, I get carried away when it comes to dancing." He blushed as almost all of the other couples stopped dancingto watch them, his sister giggling softly as she watched him and Mary. "Thats my sister over there.." He commented under his breath, nodding twards the beautiful blonde.

"She's beautiful," Mary commented about Vincent's sister. She swallowed when other couples started to watch them. "And your dancing is fine, I'm just clumsy..." She looked back at Vincent and shrugged, wondering if the songs had ever changed or if the first one had just gone on for however long they were dancing. "Everyone is watching us," she murmured softly.
