I think our guard just about died when they announced our score.

Our first competition was Saturday. We got first place with 70.3. 2nd place scored 53 something.

Now we're afraid to be bumped up. We're in SRA and they want to put us in SA. It's a long story so the short story- Our instructor doesn't want us bumped up (I'm still not exactly sure why, just that the judging is different) and they've been trying to bump us for a long time now. It seems very likely now though, but I don't know when they'll find out.

They have to have this meeting to review our show. Our instructor can't sit in on it (for obvious reasons, though she would have if it was someone else- she's the CG rep of OIPA), our dance instructor can't (she's part of Pheonix independent) and her husband can't (he is too) though he will be there cause he's the president and all.

I hope they have this meeting soon.

So if anyone else wants to post how their first competition went, go ahead. Surprise me.

Ok. Pretense before I announce. Last year we got second to last in all but two competitions. Once we got last I think and the other we got like, something higher than usual. We got a 74.1 at the comp before prelims and then at prelims got 70.something. The last qualifier for finals got .7 better than us.
Last year was also our first year in A.
Now, let me explain my circuit system.
We are the largest circuit outside of WGI.
IHSCGA.
So large, we had to break up our A class into A, AA, and AAA
With 40 or 30 guards in each of those classes.
Our first year out was 05.
We were AAA and stayed there.
Second season. Got first in AAA at the first competition and were bumped to AA.
Next year. First in AA and a bunch of comps, second over all at finals, but got a gold medal and were bumped to A.
Last year. First year in A. Didn't even make finals. Everyone on the team except a select few disliked the show.
More explaining.
The results from tryouts that year (this is before marching season). 14 vets, from the 16 who preformed the year before, and 7 rookies.
End of the marching season. 10 vets, 4 rookies.
Beginning and end of the winterguard season. 7 vets, 3 rookies.
This years colorguard team.
7 vets. 13 rookies.

We got 12th out of 15 last saturday.
We beat one of open class finalists from last year who moved down and two of the A class finalists from last year.
We were missing two very important girls. One had the beginning solo, which was learned in one day by the second soloist (the day of the competition) and the other was a duetist (with mee =D)
Who was replaced a week before because she went to the inauguration.
And we still did better than our first time out last year.
We got them both back.
Everyone will be there.
Tomorrow is our day to get back on top.

That's awesome! Tomorrow is our second competition. They decided not to bump us up this competition but we're under close watch.

We're all really excited though. We love our show so much and we're really striving to do our best this season.

I can't imagine 13 rookies though. Eek. My instructor would be really excited though, if 13 girls tried out for marching season. I think I'll cry if that happens. I'll be a senior next year, omg.

I hope your show continues to get better though. Good luck!

our first show was last weekend, and we didnt do too bad.
3rd place with a 47 or something like that in SRA.
i was hoping for better tho.
we have 15 girls, about 11 of them are new and 13 have never done winterguard.
only me and the other captain have.
we're not performing this weekend, but hopefully next weekend will be better.
