Yay! This is a fanfiction about Mai's life! What a shocker! eek I know you did not expect that. You probably thought this was about some girl name Nina's life when you saw the title right? Yeah, I know I'm amazing like that. It's almost as if I could read minds! So, feel free to comment and stuff. I apologize right now if I mess up with spelling, grammar, and puntuation 'cause I know I will. I also apologize for the suckish writing. I'm just not a good writer.

Where's Mommy and Daddy?
Mai, a small eight year old, walked out of her room. There was a thunderstorm going on, and the ringing of the phone was barely audible. Mai answered the phone.
"Hello?" Mai spoke clearly into the phone.
"Mai! I'm coming home right now to drive you and your sis' to your violin recital. So, get changed." said a voice Mai identified as her mother's said.
"We're already dressed. Don't worry about us! I'm not that irresponsible you know!"
"Oh I know! You are way too serious for I little girl! I mean it surprises me that you can handle things so... efficiently."
"Yeah, whatever. Wait! If you're coming home right now that must mean you're talking while driving! Do you know how dangerous that is!? Hang up immediately!"
"Darn it! I was hoping you wouldn't figure that out!"
"Yeah yeah yeah. Good bye, and please don't do that anymore! I don't want you to have an accident." Mai hanged up not even waiting for a reply. She ran to her little sister's room. Mai picked up five year old Melissa and carried her to her father's study. Melissa was screaming something along the lines of put me down right now. Mai giggled completely annoying her sister. They got to their father's study quickly. Barging in, Mai told her father what her mom had said. He was reading some stuff in Latin. Their father's study was like an old fashioned library full of medical texts. Mai pulled on her father's shirt until he came with her. Now they were waiting in the living room for her mom. Approximately five minutes later her mother came.
"Mommy! I missed you so so very much!" Melissa said in a childish voice.
"Lina, darling! We should hurry up so we aren't late!" spoke Ayame, Mai's father.
"Of course! Now everyone get in the car quick!" Lina rushed everybody.
During the drive it was completely silent. It wasn't the awkward silence though. It was difficult for Lina to see the road because of the rain, but she continue to drive not wanting Mai to be late for her recital. That was a very said choice though. Mai looked out of the window. Mai couldn't see a thing through the rain. She sighed this kind of weather was very depressing. It was days like these that something bad happened. The silence was also very tiring for Mai. The previous silence caused Mai to be startled by sudden car honks and screaming. Before she could interpret what was happening, she blacked out.
When Mai came to it, she was drowsy and sluggish. "Mmm" Mai mumbled, barely aware of what was happening. She looked up and saw a white ceiling. "You're awake!" a voice exclaimed.
"Hmm?" Mai wasn't sure what in the world was going on.
"Oh! It's me your auntie, Rika!" the same voice said.
"Auntie?"
"Yes! Oh my god! I can't believe you're alive!"
"Hmm? Why wouldn't I?"
"You don't remember? You were in a car accident!"
"Huh? Oh yeah!" Everything started to come back a little too suddenly. Mai was very scared and wanted to hide. She started to tremble guessing what could have happened to the rest of her family.
"Oh! Maybe I shouldn't of said that. Calm down. You're safe now."
"Where's Melissa?"
"In another room. Let me call a nurse to see if you're okay to go see her."
The nurse came in shortly and got Mai into a wheel chair. It appears that Mai broke her right leg and had sustained no other injuries. The only frightening thing though was that she had been in a coma for seventeen days. Her sister on the other hand had woken up just three days after the accident, but she refused to talk to anyone except Mai. Mai kept asking about her parents, but the nurse and Rika wouldn't say anything. Mai knew that meant they were either in critical condition or...... dead. She knew in her heart they were dead. She just didn't want to accept it. When Mai was wheeled into the room she was relieved to see that Melissa was okay physically.
"Hey Melissa! You feeling okay?" Mai asked sincerely.
"Yeah! I feel awesome! Auntie said we were in a car accident! Isn't that scary!" Melissa replied in her usual happy-go-lucky voice.
"Yeah! It was frightening wasn't it?"
"Yeppers! So um....."
"Yes?"
"Auntie says she don't know, but I know you will...."
"Yeah?"
"Where's mommy and daddy?" That simple innocent question cut deep into Mai's heart. It formed holes that would be difficult to heal. Mai wasn't sure how to answer, or if she should. She just stood there staring at Melissa's big bubbly reddish eyes.
