Heret was smiling as he led Lumi into his home. It was a glen made up of a cluster of willow trees and an overhanging cliff. In the far corner, a bed of leaves and willow branches was made up and all about the glen odd shaped rocks lay scattered as decoration along with a handful of items left over from the age of man. The blind deer smiled, turning one ear back towards where he could hear Lumi breathing. "Well, it's not huge, but I like it."

Lumi walked into the opening and stopped short, the scene was so calm, so serene, she watched in awe as a gentle breeze swept through the tree's, making them sway and dance as if waving to her in welcome. She couldn't help the smile that crept across her face, this place, this wonerful little aclove of the world. Reminded her of her home so much it made her heart hurt.
But as Lumi switched her gaze from the tree's to the Happy Heret in front of her, she pushed back those dreaded thoughts and memories. Smiling once more, a tone of laughter and playfullness in her voice, she couldn't help but follick around Heret excitedly.
"Who CARES if it's small! it's GORGEOUS!"
Lumi stopped her frollicking and closed her eyes, taking in all the sounds. The birds chirping, the bugs buzzing, the rustling of the leaves on the trees, and the crunching of the leaves on the ground. She took in a deep breath and an excited squeal escaped her throat.
"Oh! and Heret! it smells like the mountains!!!"
Suddenly though, Lumi's gaze wandered to the floor, and she noticed all the different variaties of rocks just laying around, acting as 'decorations' when really they were crudely disguised DEATH TRAPS FROM HELL!!!! She pawed nervously at one of them close to her.
"Although these rocks could be potentially lethal..."

Heret chuckled outloud at Lumi's exclamation. "Thanks. I worked really hard to make it nice." He smiled, sitting down on his bed. "The rocks are fine, just don't move them, okay? I know where each of them are." The spotted herla sighed softly, "So you lived in the mountains right? I used to live near them."

Lumi got a whistful smile as she continued to look around, her worries about Heret's well being momentarily misplaced... Her voice was wihimsical when she made her reply.
"yes... I used to live in the mountains, I always thought it was one of the most beautiful places in the world, and as far as my travels have shown me, they truly are."
Lumi couldn't suppress the sigh as she thought of her family, and she giggled slightly at the memory of how shocked her mother had become when she found out her daughter was planning to leave the mountains before some big to do even with the Royalty.
"i Sometimes wonder what would have happened if i stayed in the mountains..."
It was an open ended question, she neither expected Heret to answer or ignore it.

"Well, if you had stayed in the mountains I would have missed out on having a friend." Heret stated softly, giving a small smile. "But the mountains are most definetely amazing. I used to paint them but I don't think I ever manage to capture all of their beauty." Again he gave a sigh, but this time it was sadder. Painting was impossible for him now, and he knew he'd never be able to see the mountains again.

Taken out of her whistful state by the sad tone Heret was using, Lumi couldn't help but allow the tugging of her lips into a downward curve. She looked over toward Heret and found her feet moving before her mind could even tell her what her body was doing. Slowly, uncomfortable, awkwardly and full of embarrassment, Lumi tentatively layed her head over Heret's neck. but not putting down any pressure in an attempt to not make this an awkward moment, and she quickly pulled back. A deep purple blush crept across her face and she comforted Heret in a foreign (like weak or whetever) and meek sounding voice.
"I know how you feel sometimes Heret, atleast about the mountains, It's been so long since i've been back, that the mountains are just a simple whisp of an idea, dancing away from my mind no matter how hard i try to grasp at it. The only difference between your situation and mine... the simple fact that it's my own stupid stubborness that won't let me go back...."

As he was giving a hug of sorts, Heret blushed slightly, but returned Lumi's comforting touch with a nuzzle to her neck. "Thank you, Lumi. For understanding and for caring about me. It's really sweet." He gave a tiny smile before he sighed, "Why don't you want to go back? And if you love them so much, why did you ever leave?" Heret asked curiously.

Lumi jerked back slightly, her eyes a tad bit wide. She looked like the perverbeal deer caught in headlights, the question had caught her off guard and her mind had gone blank as to how she would answer that. She took a few steps back and looked at Heret. Her insticts fought a wretchedly bloody battle with her mind, and her guardian. But in the end, the instinct to preserve herself won over; she'd tell him a half truth.
With a sad voice to hide the guilt that plastered itself to her face, Lumi told Heret one of her famous 'truths': "I wandered away one day and went a little to far to come back before night fell, so i kept on wandering to see what i could see. I found that i loved the freedom, and to me, the mountains were just a beautifully decorated prison." She giggled a bit. "I blame them on my claustrophobia."
Lumi was surprised that the giggle had sounded so real, and she worried at her lower lip, hoping that Heret bought that half truth.

As Lumi slipped into silence after his question, Heret frowned, suddenly feeling guilty for even asking. After all, he wouldn't want people asking about his past, why should he have the right to ask about her's? But then she spoke and he nodded, his frown refusing to fade. "Ah. Yes, life can sometimes seem wonderful until you get away from it and look back on it." The blind herla agreed as he sighed softly to himself.

Lumi looked over at Heret and realised he was frowing, and then he sighed too... Lumi pouted a slightly displeased look on her face. She walkeh back up to Heret and swatted him with her tail.
"Hey mister! turn that frown upside down!" She instructed jokingly. before nipping at his ear.
"You don't look absolutely adorable when you're frowning!"

A dark blush returned to Heret's face and he couldn't help a tiny smile. "L-Lumi..." He stammered, obviously embarrased. He'd never been called adorable before, and he wasn't really used to it. Heret pulled away and stood again, nudging Lumi. "So, do you want to go for a walk? There's a stream near here and, well, I can't be certain it looks pretty, but it certaintly sounds nice."

Lumi giggled like a teasing sibling, nudging the side of Herets neck with her nose, she smiled in earnest now. She'd always loved embarrassing her little brother and sister, and this just brought back fond memories, memories that didn't hurt.
"don't freak out Heret! it'll just make you blush more!"
She smiled and bumped her rear against Heret's in a playful manner.
"Come on adorable, lead the way, creeks and streams have always been so fun to play in!"
Lumi couldn't help but smile in content at the blush across Heret's face, she stared at it for a few moments and the smile faltered slightly as it began to dissapear from his face. She almost felt like nudging at his cheeks with her nose in an attempt to bring the blush back, but she didn't. It would only make him embarrassed.

Heret smiled, blushing more as she teased him. "Oh you just, shush." He stated in a playful voice as he moved for the exit of his glen. There was no hesitantion in his steps as he moved through the trees, the sound of rippling water growing ever louder until finally they came to the stream. Flowers bloomed around it and there was a soft patch of grass on either side of it. "So, how's it look?"

Lumi couldn't help but follow Heret like a hawk. Worried that at any wrong step he might hurt himself. She was releived that they could finally stop and Heret was no longer in danger... and then she realised that they had finally stop, and that she could look around...
Lumi was speechless. This place... this place.... this wonderful place, was so heart breakingly beautiful! this place was one that begged to be looked at, begged to be loved. As listened to the creek's watter bubble and jingle like a thousand little laughing fairies or a hundred little tinkling bells, Lumi couldn't help but think of the unfairness of the whole situation. Here she was being presented with such a wonderful gift from Mother Nature, and Heret, who had been here no doubt a countless number of times had yet to even see it. Her lower lip quivered as she thought of ways to even out the playing feild.
"oh Heret!" she said, awe in her voice " It's beautiful! oh... oh wow! these flowers! they're so tiny! and pink! they remind me of the pink in the clouds! and their leaves! oh my gosh! they're spikey! -squeal- HERET! HERET!!! THESE ARE MOUNTAIN FLOWERS!!!!"
Lumi couldn't stop herself from jumping up and down excitedly.
"They look EXACTLY like these flowers at the edge of the mountain ranges, near the small streams and lakes that flow down from the mountains! except... these don't have any swirls of blue through them..."
Lumi lowered her head sniffing at the flower, she frowned slightly though becuase it didn't smell like anything. Then the stream began to bubble in a louder more urgent tone, almost as if asking for her to look at them too, she smiled, her attention having been captured by the stream now. She quickly trotted over to it and looked over it fondly...
"the water here... it's so clear!"
she giggled excitedly, this was so amazing.
"You can see every smoth rock in the stream! and so many different colors!" Lumi couldn't contain the hapy sigh that escaped her lips. "further down though..." she continued, enraptured in the world around her, trying not to skip over any detail, trying her hardest to make it real. "the water get's darker, it almost looks like bottomless stream! but when the water turns and bends, it kind of get's a whle array of blues and grays and whites and blacks! oh heret! this is amazing!"

Heret chuckled softly as Lumi squealed, his ears twisted towards her as she began explaining what the clearing looked like. In his mind, a picture of the flowers and the creek formed and he sighed happily, smiling. "Thank you, Lumi. Thank you so much." He finally whispered softly, nuzzling the female herla. "You don't know how.... happy it makes me feel to have an idea of what this place looks like."
