Have any of you read the book or seen the mini-series?

I've seen it, and DANG~ the actor for Angel was HOT!

I havent actually read it, but all my teachers keep suggesting it to me. I dunno, do I really want to go seeking out inevitable complete depression? XD

Yes, yes you do.
It'll make you cry but it's worth it!
Sick, I know.

Okay, so when I saw this thread I definitely gasped quite audibly.
Lol, Tess of the d'Urbervilles is one of my favorite books of all time. ALL TIME.
And that's saying something, since reading's been one of my favorite things to do since I learned how [1st grade I read an 800 pg book of fairy tales over christmas break =D]
I didn't know there was a mini-series. But we read it last year in my AP English class. I love how delightfully depressing it is. It's not just happy endings and fairy tales. It is real. And Thomas Hardy has such a way with words! In fact, the screensaver on my compy is a quote from the book: "It was the touch of the imperfect upon the would-be perfect that gave the sweetness, because it was that which gave the humanity."
I could geek out about this a lot more, but I'm containing it. But we should discuss! What should we discuss?
*the mild freak-out session is over*
