What's a forum for original writing without a thread for the resident poets? =o

So, do you guys write poetry? I've been doing it increasingly lately~ It's good for the soul, if you ask me ^^ Haiku is my favourite form to write in... then free form, and I have been known to write the odd ode and sonnet. XD Limericks are always fun, too!

heart Indeed, I probably prefer poetry to literature~ heart

Howdy!

I'm a poet on break.
About a 5 year break.

xD
When I was little I won a few competitions, but as I got older I grew discouraged for some reason.
Luckily, I'm getting back into it now.
=D

I hate limericks. >>;

XD

Our Guild Leader is called Arykona;
She declared, as her mouth did a-foam-a,
"Limericks are the pits!
I'd rather catch nits
Than have one of my very own-a!"

Too late =D heart

Okay, so what about everyone's favourite poems/poets? =O Owen Sheers is my favourite hands down! Yeats is gorgeous, too... He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven is just so magical d; Adam's Curse, too, also by Yeats. Oh, and Ozymandias, as quoted in my sig... and El Dorado, by Poe. Poe's awesome too =3 Can't beat The Raven. Emily Dickinson wrote some very witty stuff, too. I quote her in my About on my profile. Also love La Belle Dame Sans Merci- so haunting! By Lear, The Pobble Who Has No Toes always makes me smile... Other favourites are The Galloping Cat by Stevie Smith and The Darkling Thrush by Thomas Hardy...

I could go on... XD

Awww DX Yeah, poetry is harder to write than everyone thinks. It isnt just a case of chucking down random fancy words in patterns. It's not even a case of making it rhyme XD Poetry is awesome~

Believe me when I say you’re a pansy
Because I need not to lie
Though this fact you’ll probably deny
I’m better off without you

Was tangled in your web of lies
You weave them better than the best
At the side you sit and rest
Waiting for your unsuspecting prey

Then comes the catch
And you jump at the chance
To fill them with fake romance,
For this is the game you play so well

But when it is time
The venom will strike
And you and the spider see alike
But that doesn’t really matter, right?

When all is done and your satisfied
You wait once more
For another victim to score
Praying for disastrous events

This time, I figured out the game
I got out before it was too late
No longer a fish waiting for bait
I’ve survived this terrible fate

Believe me when I say you’re a pansy
Because I need not lie
Though this fact you will deny
I’m better off without you

LOL
I just made this up right now. I write poetry pretty fast, but I'm not very good at it. I just like to write it for the heck of it, and most of the time my poetry doesn't make sense, but I just think of poems as something that I do in the spur of the moment. I normally just write the first thing that's on my mind when it comes to poetry.
