[ OOC Note: This is just part one of a storyline we have planned between Sunshine, the passeridae, Pebble of Baker's flock and Black Mesa and Psycho of Half Price's. Enjoy~ <3 ] It all began with a beautiful heart shaped locket. The sun was shining high up in the sky, and as the children played with their parents, a little girl seemed to forget all about the necklace she had dropped on the ground. Discarded and forgotten, it was a little yellow Passeridae that found it while exploring the park.
"Ooooooh," Sunshine exclaimed as he eyed the locket closely. It gleamed in the light when he looked at it, which only added to its appeal. Pebble would love it, he thought. He had to bring it back to her! Before anyone else noticed him, the little chickadee slipped the necklace around himself and flew off to find his pidge companion.
It didn't take him long to find Pebble. She was sitting near the fountain preening her feathers; just where she was when he had left. "Pebble," he chirped excitedly. Look what I found!" The Whisperer blinked when her associate approached her and then gazed at the locket with wide eyes. Such an expensive thing! How had her little Sunshine managed to find it without any trouble? After shaking her head to snap out of her hypnotic-like trance, the half-breed pidge adjusted her shawl and moved to examine the piece of jewelry up close.
"Wow, Sunshine," she began, clearly still in awe, "I didn't think you'd find something like this."Sunshine beamed proudly at his friend's words and set the necklace down before the both of them. "I found it for you," he told her with a definite nod. The pidge could only blink in surprise once more. For her? Such a wonderful gift, and it all for her? What a wonderful chickadee Sunshine was!Pebble bowed her head and then hugged her passeridae to show him her thanks. It truly was a great present - something that Sunny didn't even have to give her. But he wanted to, and that's what made him so selfless. "Thanks, Sunny," the Whisperer told him again. "But could you watch over it for me? I have to go scavenge around a bit for the flock. I'll be back in a half an hour, tops. Stay here, that way I'll know where you are.""Okay, Pebble," Sunshine told her, flicking a wave to tell her that he understood what she asked of him. Once she had the okay, the pidge was gone and her associate left alone with the trinket he found. Despite being by himself, Sunshine couldn't help but smile brightly, radiating like his namesake. Sure, she had to go help the flock, but Pebble had liked his gift, and that made Sunny the happiest passeridae in the world.
Little did he know, however, that someone else had their eye on the necklace as they watched hidden in the bushes.

Greedy eyes. Lustful for the shiny object that little pipsqueak carried. That locket was beautiful and Mesa knew how good it would look on her. It would be wasted on the Passeridae and that hideous cross-breed pidge. It was for her and none other, she was sure of it. Black Mesa was a theif of Half-Price's flock. She was rumoured to have been laid by a pidge and hatched by a magpie. She never denied this rumour because she did obsess over stealing shiny things. Her eyes narrowed on the little smite as the big pidge flew away. She was poised, ready to take off. "Don't. Even. Think about it." a voice hissed behind her. She wheeled around, an angry pair of black eyes meeting her. "SHEESH, NINTENDO! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS SNEAK UP ON ME LIKE THAT?!""Because it takes a weasle to catch a fox." he said. "If you saw me, you'd have made sure I couldn't spoil your fun."She pouted. "And what fun might that be?""I know you don't like Pebble. And I know what you want right now. But I say this as a friend to Pebble's mother. If you steal anything from her, I'll rake out your eyes." He glared. She frowned. "Fine. I won't steal.""Promise?""Promise.""Promise?""Promise!""Promise?""DAMMIT, YES I PROMISE!"He smiled. "Three times you promise. Don't break it, Mesa. I'll kick you out of the band if you do." And with that, he smiled and said, "Remember, its a promise," before flying away. She pouted. She liked being in the band. And she couldn't betray Nintendo, not after a triple promise. It was the code of a theif never to do so... But...it wasn't theft if she traded. She looked around hurridly and found a large bough of berries. Making sure no-one was around, she fluttered from the bush with her treat and landed by his perch near the fountain. "Hello!" she greeted, not speaking any passeridae whatsoever.

At the sound of an unfamiliar voice speaking to him, Sunshine whirled around. It was then that he came face to face with a strange pidge he had never seen before; Black Mesa. At first glance, he would have thought she was a nice bird. She looked that way, at least. Yet something didn't feel right, but he couldn't quite put his talon on it.
He couldn't understand a word she was saying, but the berries said all that needed to be said. His eyes twinkled at the sight of them and instinctively he leaned closer with the necklace in his talon. Berries were his favorite, but whether Mesa knew that was anyone's guess.
"Hi," twittered the passeridae. Already had he forgotten that not all pidge were Whisperers like Pebble, able to understand him. After he greeted her, the little chickadee slowly inched forward, careful to not let go of the locket. He couldn't lose it now - not after he told Pebble he'd watch over it. "Those are some really nice berries you got there!"

She held the berries close to her. She didn't want him snapping any up before the trade. She smiled, listening to his jibberish as he eyed her food. She'd have to do this basic. "Listen, I have NO idea what you're saying."
She pointed at the berries. Then she pointed at him. He'd get the berries. She pointed at the locket. Then she pointed at herself. She'd get the locket. A fair trade. "got it?"

If there was one thing funny about pidge, it was how they tried so hard to get their point across. As Mesa pointed and made various motions to the berries, themselves and the locket, Sunshine watched with his head tilted. Thank God Pebble was able to understand him.
It didn't take much for him to understand that she wanted to trade, but that was something he couldn't do. When she was finished, he shook his head from side to side quickly. "I can't trade. This is Pebble's. You can still share, though," he said with a happy smile, "you have more than enough!"
He paused, however, after he finished speaking. She wouldn't have understood anything he just said. So, in hopes of getting her to understand him better, the chickadee decided to try it her way. With one wing, he pointed to the locket and shook his head. He couldn't give it up. There was just no way. Then, with the other wing, he pointed to the berries and then to the both of them. Equal opportunity for all. They could share the berries. That was the best way to go!

She let her face fall and her eyes narrowed. Greedy little bugger. She had no desire to eat the berries, but she tucked them away behind her, just to spite him, and shook her head, glaring. She ruffled her feathers and pointed twice at the necklace, then at her. She stood over him. If she couldn't steal or trade for it, she'd make him leave. That way it was finders keepers and would be a scavanged item. She flared her wings up high and hissed.

A persistent one, wasn't she? Sunshine stared up at the thief, but he didn't back down despite her attempts to intimidate him. Pebble had taught him better than that. No, he wasn't going to give the locket up. Not without a fight. After all, he was the one who found it. It was his to do with as he pleased, and he was giving it to his pidge associate. Not some thief that wanted it out of greed!
When Mesa hissed at him, Sunshine fluffed his feathers up as well and glared back at her. "No," he snapped, taking a step back with the necklace still in his talons. She wasn't going to get it. Of that, he was sure.

She glared. He was the persistent one. She turned and struck him with her huge wing, knocking him over. She stood on his chest. She'd kill him and take his trinket then!
NO, MESA! STEADY! EASY GIRL. Think this through. If I kill him, its murder on my claws...he won't trade, i can't steal, i can't scavanage and i can't kill.
A devious plan awoke in her mind.
But...
It streched and yawned.
I do want that necklace...
It kicked her brain.
And it's not really theft.
She looked over her shoulder at the bush, where she'd left her bag. She smiled and got off the little bird. She then picked the berried up and extended her wing. "Yum yum. come and get them." she waved them, smiling.

The blow from Mesa's wing caught him off guard, and the little chickadee was knocked down with a thud. He cried out when he hit the ground, but it was more in surprise than in actual pain. He hadn't expected the blow at all!
"Ouch...Why is she so mean?"
Gingerly, Sunshine picked himself back up. Once he was off the ground, he fluttered his feathers a bit just to be sure. Good! Nothing was broken. It was the berries that caught his attention next. Those sweet, red, juicy berries that were calling out his name. His stomach grumbled as he gazed at them, only reminding the passeridae more of how long ago he had eaten. He had to have those berries! He just had to! So, against his better judgement, Sunshine inched forward, closer and closer to the beloved fruit he longed for so much.

She had cast the line...and had hooked a whopper. When he approached, she hopped back. She was leading him. "Come on. You can get them. You can do better then this!" She kept hopping backwards.
She was slowly luring him to the spot before the bush. When she got there, she dropped the berries and pulled them off the stem, leaving them in a pile. "All for you if you get here in time." She ate one.

Sunshine was no longer able to contain himself. He lunged at the sight of the pile of berries before him, completely abandoning his watch of the locket. The food was more important, at least at the moment, anyway. When he reached the fruit, he dove in immediately. One by one he scarfed down the berries until he couldn't eat any more. There were a few left over, though, in case Mesa wanted any. With a content sigh, Sunshine ruffled his wings.
"...Those were so worth it."

In the time he had eaten them, Mesa had slipped away into the bushes. She got her sack and slipped up behind the passeridae. And then, with a horrid cackle, the Passeridae was swept up in her claws and wings and was being stuffed, headfirst, into the dark sack.
When only his foot stuck out, she drew the strings shut tight. She smiled and patted it plumply. What an easy catch. The clockwork of her devious ploy was in motion. She bundled the sack in her talons. "Comfortable?" she asked it with a cold laugh.

With the next thing he knew there was darkness. Darkness, and a laugh that chilled him from the top of his head to his talons. It was Mesa speaking to him, even though they both knew they couldn't understand each other. He had been tricked. Tricked like taking Pebble's shawl away from her. How could he allow himself to fall for it?
Struggling, Sunshine tried his best to wiggle his way out of the bag, but it was no use. He had been caught, and resisting would only make it worse. "Lemme out..." he murmured feebly as he began to tremble with fear. All he wanted was to be let free, to see the sky again -- to see Pebble. That was it!
"PEBBLE!" he screeched. "PEBBLE, I'VE BEEN KIDNAPPED! HELP ME!" But that was no use, either. The Whisperer was too far away to hear, leaving the very vulnerable passeridae in the clutches of a psychotic pidge.

Mesa patted the bag plumply once more. She'd never gotten it this full before. Like she told herself, this wasn't stealing from Pebble. This was only kidnapping. She wasn't breaking her promise to anyone.
She rolled her eyes as the chickadee put up the racket. She prodded the bag with her talon, closing it around the small bird. She hoped he was claustrophobic.
She eyeballed the necklace that had slipped off in the scuffle. So tempting...she could just take it! No. No, that was breaking the promise, because the little yellow chickadee hadn't left it willingly. She simply moved it closer to where Pebble had left the chickadee.
Then, she seized the top of the bag and took off, madly flapping her wings. The little bugger was heavier then she though! Her feathers dropped everywhere as she struggled to fly. She put her back into it and was soon in the air with her bundle.
Ironically, the locket she left behind flashed in the afternoon sunshine. A word in loopy letters was engraved in it.
Promise

A half an hour later, just as she had promised, Pebble had returned. On her scavenging trip, she had managed to find a few strips of cloth and a toothpick. Baker would be pleased, and Sunshine would be thrilled about her find. Eager to see her associate again, the Whisperer swooped down gracefully and landed in front of the fountain.
"Sunshine, you won't believe what I fou--.."
Her words were cut off, though, trailing away into the silence at what she saw. Before her sat the beautiful locket, but no Sunshine in sight. What was going on? Something wasn't right. There was no way that Sunny would just up and leave without telling her. He would have waited until she came back before flying off.
Pebble took a deep breath after looking around the surrounding area and tried her hardest not to panic. After setting down the stuff she had found near the fountain, she moved over and examined the locket. It seemed perfectly fine with the word 'Promise' gleaming prettily in the sunlight. With a wing, she picked up the necklace and placed it around her neck so she could wear it as she flew.
With a flap of her wings, she took off in the air after that, not even bothering to pick up the things she had found on her scavenging expedition. They didn't matter anymore. The only thing on her mind was Sunshine, and no matter how long it took her, she was going to find him. Of that, she was sure.[ OOC Note: This concludes part one of our story.
