The scene of the crime...
The winter session at Hallaverd had just begin, mirroring the weather changes outside almost exactly. It had been slowly getting colder for weeks now, but this morning it had actually begun to snow. For this reason, Hallaverd opened her gates early to admit students into the warmth of her halls.
The grounds keepers were outside immediately after sunrise, shoveling the newfallen snow from the pathways that criss crossed the grounds. Once finished, they carefully coated them with things to keep people from slipping as they traveled across the courtyards.
Students who were bundled enough [and brave enough] were lingering around outside, excited about this quarters winterly activities from the break that was coming at the end of the month to the parties scheduled and being planned by the student councils.
None of this really effected Jessi in the least [he wasn't one of the students who got their kicks out of planning large scale social events]. He did, however, favor the colder season to the humid hot months that plagued Hallaverd. He tucked his fingerless gloved hands into the deep pockets of his long coat, class scarf dangling around his neck, loose. He was leaning on one of the far walls, away from most of the other students that would have ventured outside. He was smoking, a bad habit he'd picked up from his 'job'... He lifted a hand from it's warm place in his pocket, quickly flicking ashes aside before returning it to his mouth- and his hand back into the warmth.

Winter was the one season that Dyfrin wished he could stay home and in his warm bed. Three layers of clothing and he still felt chilled. Dyf lacked the energy and the enthusiasm to care about anything other than running into a wall or pole. He hated the lack of warmth that helped him to see where he was going. Bodies blazed in reds and oranges where the ground was a dark purple color, almost black. Avoiding the crowd Dyf moved to the far side of the building to get out of the windchill, maybe he could warm up.

Jessi was beginning to doze idly where he was leaning against the wall when he heard someone coming. He quickly flicked the cigarette aside, kicking snow over it and blew the remaining smoke into the air.
When Dyf appeared he frowned. "... I thought you were a treacher."

"So sorry to disappoint you," Dyf said flatly. He was to cold to offer any sympathy. "If you get caught it's your own fault, I wouldn't suggest doing it this close to the entrance. Most people go to the back of the building." He could feel the cold of the wall seep into his clothes as he leaned against it. Maybe he'd be better standing against something that wasn't frosted over...which was nothing as far as he could tell.

"Not dissapointed, just wasted half a cig." Jessi mumbled, taking out another and lighting it without a second thought. "That's why I'm here- if most people go to the back, they probubly assume that's where most will be. I'll stick right here.. it's suited me fine enough."

"Okay, suite yourself." Dyf rubbed his hands together to remove the numbness. Glancing at the other man's outfit he shook his head. "How can you not be cold? It's freezing out here." Dyf suddenly wished he smoked just so that he could have a lighter open around his own hands.

The other boy shrugged, taking a long drag before removing the cigarette from his lips to reply.
"I like the cold," He glanced at him, smirking faintly at the layers Dyf wore. "Not a big fan of the cold, hmm?"

"No, I enjoy wearing so much clothing it's difficult to move." He knew that being sarcastic was never a good way to answer anybody espeically not in school, but it was already to late to take it back. "Sorry. It's been a long day and it's barely started."

Jessi's eyebrows lifted slightly, studying Dyf for a moment before turning back to watch the snow field.
"You're a real charmer, I can tell." He sighed, exhaling smoke. "What's got you so pissed so early..?"

"I guess it's the fact that it's snowing." Dyf looked down at the ground and out to the field. "It makes it hard to see where I'm going."

"What do you mean," Jessi tucked his hands back into his pockets, warming them for a moment. "What's the snow got to do with your sight?"

"Oh, it's far to late for that now-" Jessi tossed his cig aside, having smoked it down to practically nothing. He stepped over towards Dyf, moving to stand infront of him. "I'm curious now." He peered at him, leaning forward to look at his eyes closely.
"So, tell me.." He grinned a bit, "Oh, my name is Jessi."

"I think I'll pass. Trust me, you don't need to know." Under such close examination Dyf found himself backing up till his back hit the wall. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Dyfrin Li-Merrindale."

Jessi placed a hand on the wall beside Dyf's face, head tilting slightly. "Tsk, you brought it up... That's quite a name, 'Dyfrin'... "
